Chapter 18
I found it unbelievable until I received a call from the real estate agent.
“Miss Shen, there’s a problem with the sale of your house. Could you please come back to handle it?”
With confusion, I bought a ticket to return.
As soon as I got off the car, I saw the agent who had called me a few days ago.
Seeing me return, he looked as if he had seen a savior.
“Miss Shen, you’re finally back. It’s your husband. He heard you were selling the house and is absolutely against it.”
The agent explained the situation to me in a few words.
I was amused by the absurdity.
So that’s why Zhou Jingcheng hadn’t made any moves.
He was waiting for me here.
“I’ll handle it.”
After sending the real estate agent away, I called Zhou Jingcheng.
He didn’t answer, so I went directly to his company.
Unlike last time, this time the receptionist didn’t even ask and directly invited me upstairs.
The young lady who had previously received me was now even more respectful, leading me to Zhou Jingcheng’s office door.
“President Zhou is waiting for you inside.”
I glanced at her, but it wasn’t really at her.
My gaze swept past her, landing on Lin Manman in the corner.
It seemed she had been demoted.
I remembered that during my previous visits, her desk was the closest to Zhou Jingcheng’s office.
Lin Manman saw me, unable to hide the resentment and anger in her eyes.
If looks could kill, I had no doubt she’d burn holes all over me.
I ignored her and pushed the door open.
The moment I saw the office layout, I felt a bit dazed.
All traces of Lin Manman had been thoroughly removed.
It suddenly looked like it did in the beginning.
Zhou Jingcheng sat in the executive chair behind the desk.
Against the backdrop of the large floor-to-ceiling window, his slender figure appeared somewhat weary and disheartened.
He looked particularly forlorn.
Indeed.
Recently, due to the trending video incident, the stock price of Zhou Jingcheng’s company had been affected, dropping several points.
It’s no wonder he was troubled.
But… what does that have to do with me?
“If I remember correctly, you promised me this house.”
I walked straight to Zhou Jingcheng, questioning him.
Hearing my voice, Zhou Jingcheng looked up, his gaze deep.
“Ah Yue, what do you mean by regret?”
He answered irrelevantly, leaving me puzzled.
But soon, I understood.
He was referring to what I said in that video.
When the Blogger asked me, “What would you say to yourself five years ago?”
My answer was:
“If possible, Shen Yue, don’t marry Zhou Jingcheng. You will regret it.”
And five years ago.
When Zhou Jingcheng and I registered our marriage, he asked me with teary eyes.
“Ah Yue, marrying me has been hard on you. Will you regret it?”
At that time, my answer was, “No.”
Now Zhou Jingcheng was actually asking me what I meant by regret.
“Don’t you understand?”
I couldn’t help but find it laughable, calmly retorting.
