A True Heroine Needs No Man - Chapter 7
To get Su Wanyin help faster, I ran down the stairs with her in my arms.
My high heels practically struck sparks against the floor.
Lin Lailei chased after me, not catching her breath until we were in the ambulance.
“I think Shang Luzhou was calling your name back there.”
“You must have misheard.”
Lin Lailei didn’t press it, instead launching into a breathless tirade.
“Oh my god, you were wearing eight-centimeter heels, carrying a whole person, and running like the wind!”
“Weren’t you afraid of twisting an ankle?”
Not a chance.
Not with the female lead in my arms.
I thought with a sense of quiet relief.
Lin Lailei saw me staring at Su Wanyin and leaned in to whisper, “If it were me, would you run that fast for me?”
Before I could answer, she answered herself.
“No, wait, I’m definitely more important to you than she is.”
“You’d probably run even faster.”
A nurse nearby shot her an annoyed look. “Please be quiet.”
Lin Lailei pouted but said no more.
I squeezed her hand and whispered in her ear, “Of course I would.”
Her good mood returned instantly.
