99% Match, But He Smells Like My Ex-Boss - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Han Che didn’t run.
He even laughed.
“Lu Zhiheng, so what if you’ve traced it here? That was two years ago. Who can prove I wanted to harm you?”
Lu Zhiheng stepped in front of me.
I grabbed his sleeve and pulled him aside.
He paused briefly.
I said, “Don’t block the shot.”
Han Che’s expression changed.
I took my phone out of my pocket.
The screen showed that it was recording.
His previous statement was clearly captured.
Han Che sneered.
“Song Zhi, you’ve learned to be clever.”
“Thanks to you.”
He looked at me, his eyes finally showing a trace of venom.
“Do you know what I hate most about you?”
“I don’t want to know.”
“You’re just an ordinary Omega, yet you always make Lu Zhiheng see you.”
I frowned.
Lu Zhiheng said coldly, “Han Che.”
Han Che seemed to have been holding it in for a long time.
“The Yunqi Project was mine from the start! You’d only been here three months, and he handed you the core module.
What do you think that was based on? Because your proposal was well-written?”
I looked at him.
“Otherwise, because you’re good at drugging people?”
Han Che’s face twisted.
“I was just putting things back where they belonged.
Lu Zhiheng shouldn’t have rejected Hengyuan for you, shouldn’t have suppressed so many resources to protect you.
He’s an Alpha, you’re an Omega. The higher your matching degree, the less clear-headed he becomes.”
Lu Zhiheng’s voice was very low.
“I’m perfectly clear-headed.”
Han Che laughed.
“Clear-headed enough to fire her with your own hands?”
Lu Zhiheng’s face paled.
I didn’t want to see him repeatedly stabbed by those words.
So I took a step forward.
“Han Che, you scheming against me has nothing to do with my matching with Lu Zhiheng.”
I paused and rephrased.
“You schemed against me because you can’t afford to lose.”
Han Che’s face stiffened.
“You prove your worth by erasing others.”
“But you still don’t understand why the Yunqi Project doesn’t belong to you.”
He glared at me.
I said, “Because what you do is about control.
What I do is about giving users a choice.”
Those words seemed to strike his most painful spot.
Han Che lunged at me.
Lu Zhiheng was faster.
The fir scent suddenly bore down.
Han Che’s knees went weak, nearly collapsing.
My scent gland also heated up.
“Lu Zhiheng!”
He immediately reined in his pheromones.
But Han Che had already been restrained by the arriving security.
The regulatory authorities and police arrived quickly.
The chain of evidence was more complete than I imagined:
Illegally accessing matching data, unauthorized use of inducers, forging project logs, deleting medical records.
When Han Che was taken away, he was still looking at me.
“Song Zhi, do you really think Lu Zhiheng is innocent?”
I said, “He’s not innocent.”
Lu Zhiheng stood beside me, his fingers curling slightly.
I continued, “I’ll settle scores with him myself.”
