Summary
Raised as a street beggar, Gu Xiaoxiao never expected to become the prime minister’s long-lost daughter. Noble manners have never suited her, and neither have the marriages her new family might choose. Her heart belongs to Mo Yan, the beautiful boy with whom she once shared her scant food. She has since bought his freedom, but keeping him by her side calls for a colder plan: a marriage to a sickly young duke. When a princess’s jealousy and a crisis at court threaten that plan, Xiaoxiao must decide what she is willing to risk for the person she loves.
