Summary
When my husband returned to the capital to report on his post, he brought a woman from Jiangnan home with him.
She was gentle and pretty and knew medicine, and she had saved his life when the plague was raging.
“Rest assured, Yuqing is only a co-wife. She will never outrank you. The household will still be yours to run. Yuqing will stay with me in Jiangnan while I serve in the provinces, and you may live quietly and comfortably here in the capital.”
“In the future, Yuqing’s children will be handed to you to raise, and they will call you Mother.”
Ha. He really does dream beautifully.
He takes his new wife to Jiangnan to play at being an official and live it up, while I stay home running his enormous household, and on top of that I am supposed to raise their children for them?
I would very much like to see how many more days the Song family’s empty shell can hold together once my dowry stops propping it up.
And whether that gentle, pretty woman from Jiangnan will still call him husband so sweetly.
