Summary
After yet another silent standoff with my childhood sweetheart, I didn’t go and coax him this time.
All my friends came to talk me around.
“He’s just awkward. He says the opposite of what he means. “Someone that emotionally tangled needs a patient lover.”
But I was truly tired.
I didn’t want to be the one to back down anymore.
All these years of cold wars, arguments, and avoidance…
They had worn me down so much that I could no longer tell whether he really was just emotionally tangled, or whether he no longer loved me.
So when he threatened me with a breakup again, I said, “Then let’s break up.”
