Summary
My father the Emperor asked me to choose an Imperial Son-in-Law between Jiang Yuanhe and Xie Lan.
Just as I was about to make my choice, messages appeared in the air:
“princess, don’t choose Xie Lan. He has great ambitions – becoming the Imperial Son-in-Law would only ruin him. He wouldn’t be able to enter the court, nor could he openly have a meeting of minds with talented women.”
“Please don’t choose Jiang Yuanhe either. If the young general becomes the Imperial Son-in-Law, how is that any different from an eagle having its wings clipped?”
“I’m starting to get annoyed with the princess now. She’s just a useless burden. Why not send her off for a marriage alliance?”
I stood there, bewildered, unable to point to anyone.
Then, another message appeared:
“Don’t make the choice for Jiang Yuanhe, okay? He honed his strength on the frontier and longed to serve the princess. Are those who don’t want Jiang Yuanhe to be chosen trying to ruin him?”
My gaze focused and landed on Jiang Yuanhe, who was kneeling in the hall below.
Does he mean to use his strength for me?
