Waterbound Love - Chapter 68
The wedding was modestly held, attended by members of the Shen and Du families. Wei Qingqian and Chu Qian, along with Zhao Ling, served as groomsmen, while An Qinqin and Yaoyao were bridesmaids. There was always a spot left open for her, a perfect happiness that didn’t mind such a small imperfection. Close friends and noble families, aware of Shen Yan’s health, showed understanding.
Before the wedding, Du Bai visited Tinna in the hospital only to find she had been moved. Du Bai hadn’t confirmed with the Liu family whether Tinna was unconscious or awake; keeping a fantasy might be nice, she thought. In a life so full of despair, why not choose to create beauty for oneself?
If she were awake, wouldn’t it be better for her to seek a new environment to live quietly and simply, instead of recalling the sorrows of the past? Even though she wasn’t there physically, her heart was still very close.
Du Bai was dressed in a wedding gown, her right arm draped from the chest down with chiffon lilies, wrapping around her wrist. The white petals converged at her front and waist, merging into a chain of petals that bloomed extravagantly at her left waist. The sleeve on her left arm reached her elbow, and a petal clutched her tender jade wrist. The gown’s lower part casually pleated, as if caressed by the wind.
At first glance, she seemed like a lily bud waiting to bloom, stepping into the intertwined colors of happiness floating from afar.
The air was filled with many bubbles, seemingly a multitude of happiness rushing towards her.
Shen Yan slowly walked towards Du Bai, her steps too hurried, her body tense. Chu Qian reached out to steady her. “Let me escort you,” he whispered softly to Shen Yan, suppressing his intense emotions.
Shen Yan smiled gratefully at Chu Qian. “Thank you, but can you let me do this alone? I’ve been looking forward to this moment for too long,” she said.
Chu Qian looked at Shen Yan’s gaunt face, her determination, and nodded. He gently let go of her hand and watched as Shen Yan slowly walked towards Du Bai, swallowing the bitterness in his eyes. Happiness arrived so intricately, so slowly.
The two of them slowly came together, their black and white attire blending distinctly yet harmoniously.
It turns out faith can indeed lead to the church.
Du Bai brought Shen Yan to the new residence her brother had gifted her. She played with the flowing water in the pond, where the fine and smooth pebbles made her feet look even more delicate and ethereal, the water wetting the hem of her dress.
An Qinqin came out with Shen Yan, wearing a wedding dress similar in style to Du Bai’s but with different details in the pattern. Shen Yan looked at Du Bai, her face a picture of confusion.
“So beautiful,” Du Bai sincerely complimented her, teasing upon seeing Shen Yan’s blushing cheeks, “Babe, are you ready to marry me now?”
Shen Yan, still puzzled, replied, “Didn’t we get married during the day?”
Du Bai rolled her eyes and walked towards Shen Yan, “You married me during the day, but now it’s Shen Ai who is marrying me.” Seeing Shen Yan struggling, she walked over and embraced her waist. “What, you despise me for being a second-time bride? Let me tell you, I’m still quite the catch.”
Shen Yan hugged Du Bai tightly, a tenderness trickling down her neck and slowly flowing through her heart.
Lian Yinyun stood quietly at the doorway, watching the brides who had once been connected to her embrace each other. If only the past could have lasted, how wonderful it would have been. The glittering sand had ultimately slipped through her fingers; happiness was what she had lost.
Shen Yan saw Lian Yinyun at the door, her body stiffening momentarily, her hand gripping Du Bai’s tightly before she forced a bitter smile and relaxed. Du Bai caressed Shen Yan’s hand that hung limply, warmly transmitting strength.
“Today we are getting married. Won’t you bless us?” Du Bai asked Lian Yinyun openly, holding Shen Yan’s hand tightly. I’m sorry, blame my ruthless heart, but I can only strive to make Shen Yan’s happiness richer, not allowing even a slight flaw to exist.
Shen Yan looked at Du Bai, her eyes which had just dried filling with tears again, staring steadily at Du Bai who simply smiled softly at her, as gentle and loving as ever.
Even knowing she couldn’t be seen, Lian Yinyun still smiled and nodded slightly. An Qinqin quietly pulled her away, leaving them a peaceful space enveloped by their love.
This wedding was simpler than the one during the day because it was just the bride and the bride.
The ground scattered with stars seemed a reflection of the sky, telling of longing and deep love.
Today, we are each other’s wives, each other’s husbands, each other’s everything. I will make your happiness even richer, unbreakably so.
Thank you for making everything so perfect. How should I choose to leave so that you can still live happily?
