Waterbound Love - Chapter 67
Shen Yan left the hospital and saw the Du Family car parked outside. Du Bai was sitting in the back seat, her head slightly leaning against the window. The tint of the window was too deep to clearly see her expression. She must be frowning even in her sleep by now.
Du Bai’s sleep was light, and her posture seemed uncomfortable. She shifted slightly, waking up from her light slumber, rubbed her eyes, and then saw Shen Yan approaching with the help of Lin.
On seeing Du Bai, Shen Yan smiled gently, “You came over.”
Du Bai helped Shen Yan into the car and pouted, “You didn’t wait for me to bring you here, and you didn’t let me pick you up? Do you dislike me that much?”
“It’s not that, I just didn’t want to tire you out,” Shen Yan replied with a smile as she got into the car, followed by Du Bai looking down.
Shen Yan, I won’t pry into what you don’t want me to know.
In the early morning, Shen Yan woke up in pain, staring at Du Bai who was holding her tightly beside her, feeling a warm stream soothing her heart. These days, Du Bai had been sleeping beside her every night. Though she never mentioned it, Shen Yan knew she eagerly looked forward to these moments.
As waves of pain struck, Shen Yan’s body stiffened, perhaps from discomfort. Du Bai moved slightly and groaned. Shen Yan took a deep breath, trying to relax her body, clenching her teeth, and forcefully suppressing the urge to spasm. Holding back the tears in her eyes, she quietly gazed at Du Bai’s peaceful face.
Shen Yan, hang in there, you can do this. Du Bai, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying my best to provide you a peaceful morning, I will try to keep it stable for you.
Still in pain, her body felt cold as if placed in ice yet sticky, as if coated with a thick layer of syrup, slowly torturing her senses. Shen Yan endured the agony, trying to steady her rapid breathing, tasting a warm yet metallic sweetness in her mouth.
Du Bai felt the dampness beside her and suddenly woke up, yet remained composed.
“Good morning, my dear.” Du Bai looked at Shen Yan, her smile as happy and radiant as always.
It seemed that even God was immersed in this overly cruel joke. After enduring the intense pain and becoming accustomed to it, Shen Yan managed to get her medication, swallowing two pills. She collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily.
Du Bai didn’t know how much time had passed; every minute felt like a century. Coming out of the bathroom, she saw Shen Yan quietly lying in bed, breathing lightly.
“Are you done?” Shen Yan opened her eyes and looked at Du Bai, making a move to get up.
Du Bai pressed Shen Yan back down, noticing a red mark on her face, “Stay down, let’s talk for a bit.”
“Okay,” Shen Yan agreed, too exhausted to argue.
“I want to lay some carpet in your room, I still prefer walking barefoot, and the wooden floor has to dry after a shower before I can walk on it.” This way, next time you fall, it won’t hurt as much.
Deeply touched, Shen Yan cleared her throat and pretended to be cheerful, “Sure, I’m all yours, do whatever you like, especially with this room.”
Du Bai continued to whisper something, her voice sweet and crisp like dates soaked in fine wine, addictive. Unknowingly, Shen Yan drifted into the sound of her voice, closing her eyes.
Watching her breathe lightly, Du Bai still spoke softly, uttering words no one else could hear, accompanying the breathing, like a song of happiness composed by love, making tears poignant.
