The Vanished Parents - Chapter 7
The woman suddenly burst into tears.
“The doctor warned us before, saying you might have some aftereffects from the car accident, but we didn’t take it seriously. What’s wrong with you now? Mom and Dad are right here!”
I turned my head, staring intently at these two unfamiliar faces.
“What proof do you have that you are my parents?”
The woman wiped her eyes and shakily took out her phone.
I noticed that on her finger, there was a black mole identical to my mother’s.
The woman showed me the photos on her phone.
In the phone, I was nestled with them, smiling sweetly.
The date on the photo was exactly three months ago when I wasn’t blind.
My face turned pale, and I stepped back, unable to believe what I was seeing.
“It’s all James’ fault. If it weren’t for him, my daughter wouldn’t be like this!” The man was so angry that veins bulged on his forehead.
I stared at them blankly.
Could it be that I am really sick?
They are my real parents, and because of my illness, I’ve hallucinated that they aren’t my parents.
“Dad, Mom, I need to go to my room to calm down.”
I was desperate to know the truth.
This time they didn’t stop me.
The man nodded heavily.
I walked upstairs in a daze.
If what they said is true, and I’m the one who’s sick, then what about that napkin under the bed?
I stood upstairs, watching them sitting on the sofa, looking worried.
I took a photo of their faces and sent it to James.
James quickly replied to me.
“Emily, aren’t your parents fine?”
They really are my parents!
So all of this is true, and the one who’s sick is me.
I stumbled back to my room, “James, you cheated, didn’t you?”
James was silent for a moment: “Emily, you did see something that made you misunderstand, but please believe me, I really didn’t cheat.”
Whether James cheated or not, I actually didn’t care much anymore.
Even if I am sick, there are still many doubts here.
First, where exactly is James now?
From the photo he sent me, he is indeed in a villa identical to this one.
Second, who wrote the note on the napkin under the bed?
Various mysteries loomed over my mind.
I remembered the words I hadn’t had a chance to see clearly under the bed before and quickly crawled under it.
‘Emily, that napkin was left by me.’
‘I am you from the previous cycle, and you are now repeating the same thing. This is your fifth cycle.’
‘Though it sounds unbelievable, those two people downstairs are indeed not your parents. Don’t believe anything they say.’
‘And don’t believe James, don’t believe in the existence of another identical villa he talks about. Use your brain and think, the photo he provided can be done through Photoshop.’
‘At the end of each cycle, you will lose the memory of the previous cycle, but the fourth cycle you were lucky, you retained the memory, and these words are left for you who are now experiencing the fifth cycle.’
‘Also, don’t believe what the police say, they won’t help you. You will die at eight o’clock in the evening and enter the sixth cycle unless you kill them before then.’
‘Perhaps you don’t believe what I’m saying, but James will do everything he can to stop you from killing them, he will make up all kinds of lies.’
