The Unremarkable Little Taoist Master - Chapter 169 - Vampire
The old daoist priest pulled out the peach wood sword from his backpack, while a group of police officers at the entrance held a net covered in talismans. This net was soaked in black dog blood, and in every sense, it had a tremendous killing power against all strong yin energy in the world. Therefore, even against a creature as powerful as the Thousand-Faced Granny, it was highly effective.
The Thousand-Faced Granny had already walked into the center of our encirclement when the old daoist priest shouted into his microphone, “Action!”
A flurry of nets was thrown at the Thousand-Faced Granny, who was caught off guard by the ambush and suddenly found herself trapped in a golden net. Within the net, she let out a strange cry.
The old daoist priest lunged towards the net where the Thousand-Faced Granny was trapped. He pointed at the net, and lightning crackled violently from the sky, striking down fiercely. The Thousand-Faced Granny screamed in agony, her form shattering into countless fragments, but in an instant, she transformed into a man. The old daoist priest had only shattered one of her lives.
Seeing the mocking expression on the Thousand-Faced Granny’s face, the old daoist priest remained silent. He didn’t intend to kill her, for he knew he couldn’t.
Only a top-tier master could possibly eliminate this Thousand-Faced Granny in an instant, but a younger practitioner like the old daoist priest was not that powerful; he could only gradually wear her down.
The police officers nearby were pale with fear, as the scene before them seemed to transcend their understanding. They stared in shock at the Thousand-Faced Granny as she howled in pain. Suddenly, it seemed the old daoist priest had remembered something, shouting loudly, “You all, get back!”
With a thunderous roar, a blood-red figure appeared before us. The figure wore a cruel smile, but its face was different from ours; it had a European appearance. A vampire?
The old daoist priest regarded the vampire before him, whose demeanor was exceedingly sinister. Now, it was only a battle between the old daoist priest and the vampire. I could watch the Thousand-Faced Granny; as long as the old daoist priest defeated this vampire, I believed that would be our victory.
The old daoist priest coldly picked up the peach wood sword, his gaze fixed on the vampire before him. The vampire seemed to sense the danger as well; neither of them made the first move.
Finally, the old daoist priest initiated a probing attack. He struck the blood-red barrier with the peach wood sword, and with a crisp crack, the barrier shattered into countless fragments. The vampire shook its head, appearing to have sustained injuries. This discovery thrilled the old daoist priest even more!
Initially, the old man had feared he might not win, but now that he saw the vampire was wounded, he decided to seize the opportunity. Without hesitation, he launched a rapid series of attacks.
The vampire could only passively endure the relentless strikes, and after an unknown number of blows, the old man felt his hands start to numb. Blood dripped from the corner of the vampire’s mouth.
The old daoist priest smiled, observing that the vampire was already swaying on its feet. He knew the vampire was nearing its end. If he continued to attack a few more times, the vampire would likely exacerbate its internal injuries.
Meanwhile, the Thousand-Faced Granny watched the scene unfold and suddenly let out a loud scream. The vampire turned to look at her and displayed a gentle smile.
With a loud crash, the Thousand-Faced Granny unexpectedly broke free from the golden net. The old daoist priest quickly launched his peach wood sword, sending it racing toward her, directly piercing through the Thousand-Faced Granny’s body.
A glimmer of relief flashed across the her face, and the old daoist priest realized with dread that she appeared to be preparing to self-destruct.
He hurriedly raised the golden barrier, pulling me to his side. With a tremendous explosion, the barrier shattered, and I felt a searing pain ripple through my insides.
The old daoist priest gritted his teeth, got to his feet, and took up the peach wood sword, sprinting toward where the vampire had been. I looked around at the chaos surrounding that spot, but the vampire had already vanished. The old daoist priest sighed; indeed, it had escaped.
There was no helping it; it seemed this vampire would cause more trouble in the future. But what could I do?
The old daoist priest sighed, abandoning the idea of pursuing the vampire. Director Lou was directing the officers as they cleaned up the scene. When he saw us return, he hurried over and asked me, “Were you able to eliminate that vampire?”
I shook my head and replied, “He ran away too quickly; I couldn’t catch him.”
Director Lou patted me on the shoulder and said, “You did very well just taking down the Thousand-Faced Granny. We’ll keep a close watch from here on.”
I shook my head again, saying, “This vampire will certainly go on a rampage in the coming days. He’s sustained serious injuries and will need blood to quickly heal. We must monitor the city closely, or he may kill innocent people.”
After hearing my words, Director Lou seemed to understand the gravity of the situation. He nodded, saying, “Don’t worry; we will ensure strict monitoring of public safety in the city.”
I nodded and said, “I’ll stay at your police station for now, so I can respond quickly if anything happens.” Director Lou agreed, and we all climbed into the police car, which slowly drove away from the scene.
Not far from the location, in a small village, the vampire finally came to a halt. Gritting his teeth, he prepared to feed to restore some of his energy. He aggressively grabbed a chicken from a yard, exposing his sharp teeth as he opened his mouth.
The chicken seemed to sense the danger and flapped its wings, attempting to escape. The vampire sank his teeth into the chicken’s neck, and the chicken shook its wings one last time before going limp.
After tossing the lifeless chicken aside, the vampire licked the blood off his lips, revealing a sinister smile. Then, with a few leaps, he vanished into the darkness. Just as the vampire disappeared, a Jiangshi jumped out.
The Jiangshi glanced at the chicken’s corpse, sniffed the air for the lingering scent, and then boldly strode off in the direction the vampire had taken. If I had been at the scene, I would have turned around and fled, for that was a Jiangshi King.
I sat in the police car, silently gazing out at the passing scenery, while Director Lou fell into deep thought. The old daoist priest was playfully entertaining the little girl, and amidst her joyful laughter, he did his best to act like a clown. Seeing her smile brought a bright expression to the old man’s face.
