Having just returned to the shop, I indulged in a long, beautiful sleep, but a sudden urgent knocking at the door jolted me awake.

Two men in police uniforms walked in.

“Hello, do you recognize this woman in the photo?”

Looking at the somewhat alluring woman in the picture, I instinctively responded, “What happened to her?”

The two police officers exchanged glances, then one of them said to me, “Sir, we need you to cooperate with our investigation.”

After saying that, the male officer stepped forward, staring intently at me as if afraid I might flee.

As the car approached Wangshan Villa, I suddenly heard what sounded like a little girl singing in my ear.

I quickly looked over and saw a little girl by the side of the road, holding a doll and grinning at me.

Startled, I exclaimed and urgently shouted to the two police officers, “Quick, stop the car!”

Although the female officer didn’t understand why I suddenly asked her to stop, she slammed on the brakes.

With a loud screech, the car came to a rapid halt. I quickly opened the door and dashed out.

The two police officers hurriedly jumped out of the car and closely pursued me.

I pointed at the little girl by the side of the road and said to the officers, “Look, there’s a little girl over there.”

The female officer stepped forward and coldly said to me, “Sir, this joke of yours is not funny at all. If you don’t cooperate with us, we will have to take strong measures.”

“Can’t you see her?” I asked in terror, looking at the female officer.

She ignored me, while the male officer roughly grabbed me and pulled me into the police car.

As I glanced out the window, I saw the little girl slowly walking toward me. Blood streamed from her eyes, and she wore a sinister grin as she looked at me.

Ah! I screamed wildly, startling the male officer beside me.

He snapped at me, “Calm down.”

The car gradually came to a stop outside a villa, and we got out.

I quickly looked around but saw no sign of the little girl, and I let out a slow sigh of relief.

Following the police, I entered the villa and was hit by a strong, metallic scent of blood.

I frowned and surveyed the surroundings, noticing a life-sized photo of a woman hanging on the wall.

After giving me a glance, the female officer said, “This is the victim, Bai Lu.”

Huh? Isn’t she Chen Lili? I asked, bewildered.

The female officer shook her head and replied, “She is Bai Lu. She was murdered here last night, shortly after you entered the villa.”

After saying that, the female officer fell silent, fixating her gaze on me.

“I never came to this villa!” I insisted, very confused.

The female officer led me toward a bedroom, and as I followed, I noticed traces of fresh blood still lingering on the sheets.

The female officer sighed and said, “Bai Lu was killed here. When we arrived, she had already ceased breathing. The murderer was extremely brutal.”

I shook my head and said, “I didn’t come to this house yesterday.”

“Huh? Then where were you?” the female officer asked, a hint of disbelief in her voice.

“I never came to this villa!”

The male officer, sounding skeptical, said, “At this point, you still want to argue?”

Hearing the male officer’s words, I felt an explosion of anger and shouted, “I’ve already told you the truth, but you don’t believe me! If that’s the case, you can conduct your own investigation!”

With that, I angrily tried to leave, but the male officer obviously wasn’t going to let me go.

I nodded, feeling a bit irritated, “Don’t I know where I was?”

Shaking her head, the female officer said, “If that’s the case, then we can only search for answers here.” She turned and looked at a bedroom, the door of which was completely rusted.

I stepped forward, pressing the doorknob with force, only to find that the door wouldn’t budge.

I increased the pressure on the handle, yet the door remained stubbornly closed.

I started to panic a little, and at that moment the male officer laughed mockingly.

“Since you want to be stubborn, I’ll make sure you give up completely,” he said with a cold sneer.

After saying that, he pulled me aside and forcefully slammed his body against the door.

With a loud bang, the door flew open.

I dashed inside, and when I saw the condition of the room, I was completely dumbfounded.

It appeared as if the room hadn’t been lived in for a long time; the furniture was battered and covered in dust.

A foul, decaying odor filled the room, and I quickly covered my nose.

Suddenly, I noticed something that sent my whole body into a tremor.

There, at the head of the bed, was a huge stuffed bear, and it seemed to be smiling at me.

Gradually, my complexion grew worse, and my face turned pale.

I looked up at a photo hanging on the wall, and I froze in place.

The picture featured a little girl, and that little girl was the same one I had just seen.

I could no longer control the fear rising within me, and I screamed as I ran toward the door.

The two police officers appeared to be stunned in shock as well.
