The Unremarkable Little Taoist Master - Chapter 145 - Revenge
When I returned to the shop, I suddenly saw a package at the door, and my expression immediately turned grim.
The old man was right after all; I really had received a second item.
I hurriedly brought the package inside and then edited a text message to send to the old man.
Seeing his reply that he was on his way brought me a sense of relief.
After I opened the package and placed it on the table, I went to the bedroom to rest.
After a while, the entire room was illuminated by an eerie red glow.
I quickly got up from the bed and found the old man sitting on the sofa, coldly staring at a dark red, ancient-looking mirror inside the package.
The mirror flickered with red light, which shocked me; it seemed this mirror was somewhat sinister.
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, the old man shook his head at me, and I quickly swallowed my words.
The old man nervously watched the strange mirror before him, murmuring incantations. He took out a talisman and hurled it forcefully. The talisman spun in the air for a few circles before slowly descending.
Originally golden, the talisman had turned blood red. The old man sighed inwardly, realizing this time they were in over their heads; the opponent was more powerful than imagined.
He quickly grabbed my arm, and we started to run outside, but no matter how we ran, we always ended up back where we started. This was what they called the Ghost Wall.
With trembling hands, I tugged at the old man’s sleeve and said, “Can you deal with this ghost? It seems really strong.”
The old man glanced at me, who was shaking in fear, and felt uncertain himself. But being the boastful type, he gave me a nonchalant look, implying he still had it under control.
Seeing that look in his eyes, I suddenly felt quite brave. I extended my middle finger at the floating mirror and shouted loudly, “If you have the power, come kill me!”
The old man’s expression immediately turned sour, likely cursing me in his mind.
The old man watched as the light on the mirror grew more intense, his brows furrowing deeply.
He quietly lamented that he had left the house without anything prepared, and this was no ordinary ghost; it looked truly terrifying. Even if he had been ready, he would have struggled to handle it, let alone come here empty-handed.
The mirror trembled more violently, and the evil energy in the air thickened. I could even feel the changes in the mirror, and the old man sighed inwardly, realizing that what was meant to come was finally here.
Just moments ago, I had fantasized that the Blood Fiend Aura sealed within the mirror wouldn’t be able to break free. However, looking at the seemingly tangible Blood Fiend Aura in the air, he understood that his hopes were shattered.
I was already stunned by the Blood Fiend Aura. I had seen my fair share of ghosts, but witnessing such a bizarre scene was a first for me.
Slowly, the mirror finally stopped shaking, and a woman in a red robe emerged from it, causing the hair on my neck to stand on end. She had no head.
To be precise, it was just her body without a head. One could only imagine the sheer terror I was experiencing. Although I had just encountered a female ghost and numerous extraordinary and frightening events, this headless corpse was a first for me, and despite it being my first encounter, I could feel a deep sense of fear within me.
Upon seeing the headless corpse, I let out a shriek and collapsed to the ground in a heap.
The old man couldn’t help but roll his eyes in exasperation, seemingly at a loss with my reaction.
The female ghost looked at the old man and let out a chilling laugh. He stared at this ghost in red, tension etched on his face. The sound of her laughter felt like a mental assault; for anyone slightly timid, just her laughter could draw out their soul and spirit.
The old man became alert, gritting his teeth and steeling himself. With a fierce shout, he directed his words at the female ghost, “Separated by Yin and Yang, why haven’t you reincarnated? Do you wish to have your soul scattered?”
The female ghost cackled in response, addressing me, “With your strength, do you think you can subdue me? Do you think you can scatter my soul?”
The female ghost was still simmering with rage, and the old man, being very much alive, felt a surge of anger upon hearing her mockery. It was the first time in years that a ghost had looked down on him, and fueled by his fury, he decided to fight back.
He took out a purple talisman from his pocket, chanting incantations as he did so. This purple talisman was something he had stumbled upon, and he only had three left. He didn’t possess the ability to create more purple talismans himself.
At this moment, it was impossible for him to do it alone; he could only try if his daoism progressed further.
The old man began to chant, directing the purple talisman toward the female ghost. The talisman shot toward her, and for a moment, the female ghost seemed caught off guard by the sudden burst of power.
Struck unexpectedly by the purple talisman, she was knocked back, her body erupting with dark ghostly energy.
Letting out a strange scream, the old man said coldly to the female ghost, “If you remain so stubborn, I’ll prepare for your passage to the afterlife.”
The female ghost cackled wildly as she got back to her feet. I realized, to my despair, that she seemed to have sustained no real damage from the attack.
I could only shake my head in defeat; it seemed like this time we were really in trouble.
Seeing the female ghost’s reaction, the old man was taken aback as well.
The female ghost glared at me, saying, “Ha! You can’t stop me. I will find those people. I want revenge; I must have my revenge!”
Looking at her madness, the old man seemed to come up with a plan.
He addressed the female ghost, “I understand your unwillingness; you want revenge. But this world is no longer yours. It’s been many years; can you really find them again? Let it all go and reincarnate.”
The female ghost replied coldly, “No, they must have reincarnated. I know they’ve reincarnated, which is why I escaped from the underworld. I must take my revenge.”
Upon hearing her words, the old man felt a wave of despair wash over him. If this female ghost could escape from the underworld, it showed just how powerful she was. The fact that the purple talisman had harmed her might have been purely due to her being unprepared; it was a stroke of luck.
Now he found himself in a dilemma, his expression chilling as he confronted the female ghost. “Haven’t you considered the wrath of Heaven?”
“Ha! I fear not even soul scattering! Why would I fear a mere heavenly punishment?” she retorted.
