The Unremarkable Little Taoist Master - Chapter 144 - The Second Item
With a loud bang, the young man looked at me in despair, shouting, “Why should I die for him? Why?”
Although I was very frightened, I could still sense that something was off in what the young man had said.
Why was this young man talking about dying for me? Was someone helping me? But did this young man become his scapegoat?
The young man appeared to be filled with frustration, repeatedly slamming against the television.
Gradually, the screen turned black, and the young man seemed to encounter something terrifying, shouting, “No, don’t come near me.”
After a terrible scream, the young man’s figure gradually disappeared.
From the television came a strange voice, saying they would seek revenge on you.
After that, the dark energy immediately dissipated.
The television began to return to normal, and I continued to stare blankly at everything.
My mind was completely at a loss as to how to make sense of it all; the situation was becoming increasingly perplexing.
It seemed I could only consult the Daoist priest; perhaps then this matter could be unraveled.
After turning off the television, I sat there lost in thought when suddenly, I heard the ticking of a clock beside me.
I quickly unwrapped the package again and saw that the clock’s hands were moving backwards.
I tried several times and managed to turn the hands back to normal, but soon after, they began moving in reverse again.
Watching the backwards-moving hands filled me with frustration, and my expression began to change.
At that moment, I couldn’t believe this clock was without some sort of weirdness.
Just then, my phone rang, and I answered it to hear an old voice on the other end.
“Kid, hurry up and come to my daoist temple, and remember to be quick.”
Hearing the old man’s hurried tone, I realized something significant must have happened.
The old man had never sounded this urgent before; he always took things lightly.
I didn’t have time to think further and rushed downstairs.
When I reached the bottom, two young Daoist priests greeted me.
I looked at the two guys in confusion. Were they really greeting me?
Just as I got into the car, a figure in black suddenly appeared behind me. The man wore a mask and stared coldly at my departure.
The two Daoist priests quickly returned to the mountain gate. As soon as I stopped, they grabbed me and pulled me toward the daoist temple.
The moment we stepped into the temple, a thick wave of dark energy burst out from my body.
I shouted, “Damn Daoist, do you really want to die? How many times are you going to stop me? Do you think I’m afraid of you?”
I was astonished to see the dark energy; I had no idea how it had come from me. Nevertheless, I quickly followed the two young Daoist priests as they rushed toward the old man.
At that moment, the old man’s voice drifted out from the temple. “Hmph, evil creature, do you think you can harm anyone when you’re here?”
“Ha ha, old man, just wait. You won’t be alive for long.”
After saying that, the dark mass suddenly split into countless threads of dark energy, scattering everywhere.
I turned around in surprise to see the old man’s voice continuing, “Don’t look back; he has already left.”
Upon hearing this, I turned my head and walked toward the old man.
Before I could even speak, he smiled and said, “You can’t ask me anything right now.”
“What? I can’t ask? Do I have to wait until I’m dead to find out?” I exclaimed angrily.
The old man seemed to anticipate my reaction. He chuckled and told me, “Sit down first. I know you’re in a very dangerous situation, but you must trust me; I will ensure your safety.”
Hearing the old man’s words, I sank down like a deflated balloon, feeling powerless.
After giving me a glance, the old man said, “Have you encountered something unusual?”
I nodded hurriedly in response to his question.
Then, with a hint of fear, I said, “He almost took my life.”
Just recalling the encounter made my heart race with fear. If it weren’t for the old man’s amulet, I might really be sitting with King Yama right now.
The old man nodded, looking inscrutable as he said, “I didn’t expect him to strike so quickly. Luckily, I gave you the amulet in advance; otherwise, you…”
Upon hearing the old man’s words, I felt a surge of anxiety. So this amulet was given to me just in time? If the old man had not anticipated this moment, I might have already turned into a dry corpse.
“Old man, what exactly is going on? What does he want from me?”
The old man glanced at me, seemingly lost in deep thought.
It appeared he was contemplating whether to tell me about this situation.
I refrained from interrupting his contemplation, and after a moment, he sighed and said, “Fine, fine. Since you’ve already encountered it, there’s nothing to hide.”
This matter is not as simple as you think. From the moment you met that guy, it was destined that he would become entangled with you.
Hearing the old man’s words made me want to curse, but I managed to swallow it down.
I couldn’t afford to offend this unscrupulous old man; otherwise, if he decided to take back the amulet, I would be waiting for my end.
I forced a helpless smile and bitterly said, “So why is he coming after me?”
The old man rolled his eyes at me and replied, “Isn’t it because you’re the one who attracted him?”
“What? I attracted him? When did I offend that half-human, half-demon creature?”
“Do you remember what that guy said when you came out of the mental hospital?”
Hearing the old man’s words, I quickly began to think.
Suddenly, I recalled Wang-Ge’s half-human, half-demon appearance, sending a chill down my spine.
But I always thought Wang-Ge was just being threatened and didn’t pose any real danger to me.
The old Daoist priest sighed and said, “I warned you long ago; you just didn’t know it.”
After saying that, the old Daoist priest shot me a fierce glare, seemingly angry, and then fell silent.
I realized he was probably blaming me, so I stood quietly behind him without saying a word.
After a while, the old Daoist priest let out a long sigh.
“You should go back now. I just calculated, and I estimate you will soon receive the second item. You must remember, do not destroy it.”
