The Unremarkable Little Taoist Master - Chapter 141 - The Terrifying Evil Ghost
After we walked out, the old man took a somewhat shabby bronze mirror from his pocket.
Then he placed the bronze mirror in my hands.
“Take good care of this; it will save your life at a crucial moment.”
Seeing the old man’s serious expression, I hurriedly tucked the mirror and the red silk ribbon into my clothes.
When the old daoist priest noticed I had put the items away, he let out a relieved sigh.
Then he said, “Kid, you shouldn’t come here for a while. Just return to the shop.”
Hearing the old man’s words, I instantly felt a surge of anxiety and quickly asked, “Is it because of that female ghost?”
The old daoist priest seemed to have some sort of taboo, opening his mouth slightly before sighing and shaking his head, “Just go. The car is at the village entrance.”
After saying that, he ignored me and walked straight out.
With no other option, I reluctantly exited the village, where two young daoist priests started the vehicle with ease.
Before long, I arrived back at the shop.
I took off my clothes, comfortably lay down on the bed, and fell asleep instantly.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself back in the shop once again.
At that moment, the female ghost from that day placed several items on the counter and, with a beaming smile, said to me, “Young man, it’s time to settle up.”
I was so startled that I let out a terrified scream and desperately ran toward the entrance of the shop.
However, no matter how fast I ran, it felt like I was stuck in place. Suddenly, the female ghost transformed into a skeleton and coldly said, “Why are you running? Am I not beautiful?”
In my mind, I cursed, if you were beautiful, I’d be a deity.
I kept running, but the female ghost approached me step by step.
Then I realized I couldn’t move at all, only a protest came from my throat.
Just as the female ghost reached out her hands, I suddenly felt a warm sensation in my chest.
The female ghost screamed, her voice echoing, “You’re going to die.”
Ah! I let out a loud cry and sat up suddenly.
To my surprise, I found myself in the room, and the outside was fully lit now.
I wiped the cold sweat from my forehead, continually reassuring myself that it was just a dream.
I touched the red silk ribbon on my chest, which was still faintly glowing with a red light.
Oh no, I was going to be late. After glancing at the time, I quickly washed up and dashed out.
Even though the old daoist priest told me not to go to the village, how could I abandon Huang-Ge and that old man?
I decided to sneak back into the village and see if I could help them.
After changing into some simple clothes, I headed towards the village.
Following the route I remembered, I hurriedly made my way to the village.
Along the way, I felt an eerie quietness, with occasional chills running down my spine.
Gradually, I arrived at the village entrance, but the scene before me made my scalp tingle.
A massive banyan tree had appeared at the village entrance seemingly out of nowhere.
Underneath the banyan tree, a group of children were playing.
But instead of playing together, the children were spread out, each one fixated on their own toys.
Curiosity piqued, I slowly walked closer.
As if they had heard me, all the children turned to look at me at once.
Being scrutinized by their gaze made me feel uneasy because their expressions seemed so strange.
Each child’s pale face wore an eerie smile, their hollow eyes staring at me, continuously emitting a weird, silly giggle.
I swallowed hard and forced myself to calm down.
Then, I gently asked the children, “Why aren’t you all playing together?”
However, none of the children replied; they didn’t even move, just staring blankly at me.
The eerie giggles echoed in my ears, and I began to feel a rising panic.
At that moment, I sensed an icy chill enveloping me, as if I were trapped in an ice cellar.
The children started to change; they all stood up, their eyes locked onto me tightly.
Then, they slowly approached me, instantly reminding me of a scene straight out of a zombie apocalypse.
Suddenly, the voice of the old daoist priest echoed in my mind, reminding me that he had given me a mirror that could help distinguish between humans and ghosts.
Why hadn’t I thought to use it? I quickly began to search through my clothes.
The children gradually approached me until they were standing right in front of me. I hurriedly took out the mirror and looked into it.
The mirror shimmered with a golden light, and instantly, the children reacted as if they had encountered something terrifying. They screamed and scattered, looking for places to hide.
Looking into the mirror, I was suddenly filled with dread.
In the reflection, the children were engulfed in dark, evil energy, and blood was even trickling from their eyes.
I realized that these were not children at all, but ghost babies.
Fortunately, the mirror could suppress these ghost babies; otherwise, I probably wouldn’t make it out of here alive.
One by one, the ghost babies crawled toward me, their lifeless eyes flickering with a fierce glow, charging at me as if they were determined to catch me. I could no longer contain my fear and let out a frantic scream as I ran.
At this moment, it seemed like the ghost babies were under some control and pursued me quickly.
Muttering incoherently, they called out, “I want your body, give it to me!”
I didn’t dare to stop even for a moment and fled the village as fast as I could.
As soon as I burst out of the village, the entire ground began to tremble.
The whole village suddenly turned to dust as if it had never existed.
I stood in shock, staring at the nursery that had transformed into rubble, feeling utterly bewildered.
Surrounding the village was a vast cemetery, and I realized I was standing on top of a massive grave.
White soul-summoning banners fluttered around me in the air, emitting piercing sounds.
My expression grew increasingly grim as countless graves revealed flickering red lights.
Then, a woman’s singing voice echoed from all around me. Recognizing her voice, I instantly understood her identity.
The singing grew louder, and I scrambled to escape, rolling and crawling as fast as I could.
I didn’t dare stop for a second, using every ounce of strength to finally make it back to the shop.
Once inside, I quickly shut the door and collapsed onto the sofa, gasping for breath.
My mind was blank, and I was struggling to catch my breath.
