The Ultimate Horror Live Stream - Chapter 30 - Girls' Dormitory
“Who should I trust?”
Yingzi felt incredibly light in my arms, as if she weighed nothing at all. After whispering those words, she buried her head into my shoulder, remaining silent. If it weren’t for the lingering warmth by my ear, I might have doubted whether she had spoken at all.
Before reaching the school gate, Xiumu caught up with me, holding a coiled vine in his hand. He gave me a meaningful look. The message was clear: “Don’t hesitate, act now!”
Both were trying to persuade me in their own ways. My steps gradually slowed, and I put on a conflicted expression: “Who should I trust?”
I set Yingzi down and glanced at my phone. In The Ultimate Horror Live Room, opinions were divided.
“Streamer, are you out of your mind? Xiumu is definitely a ghost. He’s been leading you on from the start. That four corner game was just you playing with three ghosts!”
“Nonsense, that kid’s just a nutcase, no way he’s a ghost. But Yingzi, she’s way too weird!”
“Agreed. The camera was close to Yingzi’s face earlier. I watched for three minutes, and her expression didn’t change at all! She’s definitely a reanimated corpse!”
“What kind of normal high school student casually talks about murder? Xiumu’s the ghost! If I’m wrong, I’ll eat dirt live!”
“Can we get a professional opinion here? Is Liu the Half-Immortal from Qingcheng around? Calling the Half-Immortal, calling the Half-Immortal.”
“I bet 100 Ghost Money that Xiumu is the ghost!”
“Only 100 Ghost Money? Master Biao from Tieling tipped The Ultimate Horror Live Room 999 Ghost Money: ‘I bet 999 Ghost Money they’re all ghosts!'”
“Master Biao is always so bold.” I smiled slightly. No matter how dangerous the situation, reading the bullet screen from the Water Friends always helped me calm down quickly. Compared to the first live stream, the audience had grown fivefold, and there were far fewer doubters.
In truth, I had already figured out who was human and who was a ghost. But now wasn’t the time to reveal it. To avoid provoking the ghosts into a rage and trapping me, the show had to go on.
“I won’t leave here until I find Shen Meng. Xue Fei’s fate seems grim, but after checking the laboratory building, it seems Shen Meng isn’t there. She must be somewhere else.” I crouched in front of the two: “Don’t doubt your companions, don’t lose hope. If we fall apart, none of us will make it out alive.”
Encouraging them, I picked up the camera and prepared to head to the next building: “Xiumu, what business are your parents in? They’re never home, are they that busy?”
“I don’t really know. I hardly see them all year.”
“Must be a big company. What’s your dad’s name? Maybe I’ve heard of him.”
“Wang Hai.”
“Oh, Mr. Wang.”
Xiumu wasn’t in the mood to chat, and I wasn’t going to push it. I’d already asked what I wanted to know.
Besides the laboratory building, the girls’ dormitory was the closest to the teaching building. After circling around, I discovered that the dormitory didn’t have a main entrance, only two side doors on either side.
“How can anyone live in a dormitory built away from the sunlight?” The girls’ dormitory was already heavy with Yin energy, sandwiched between the boys’ dormitory and the teaching building, making it difficult for sunlight to reach it.
“Are you sure you want to go in?” Witnessing Xue Fei’s demise had transformed Xiumu into a cautious and wary person.
I shook the side door of the dormitory; the chains on it were merely decorative, and the wooden door swung open easily.
“If you want to go in, go ahead. I’m not going in.” Xiumu stepped back a few paces, leaving only Yingzi standing by my side.
The dark hallway occasionally emitted strange noises, making it eerie just to look at from outside.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Once you go in, you might not have the same luck as last time.”
Xiumu was clearly opposed to entering this place, and I hesitated, raising the camera and taking a few steps towards the door.
The entrance was where the dormitory administrator lived. The room was unlocked, and inside, besides the bed and wardrobe, there was a huge bulletin board placed against the wall.
Several notices were pinned on it, perhaps preserved well inside the room, as the text on these papers was still clear.
“Regarding the death of Shen Mengting in bed 4118, the police have completed their investigation and ruled the case as suicide.”
“The school has initiated psychological intervention measures. To accommodate the girls on the same floor who are afraid to return to their dormitory at night, arrangements have been made for temporary residence in Dormitory Building No. 1.”
The notice was dated a day in April five years ago. I scratched my chin; the police had intervened in a student death case at Xinhu High School, yet I hadn’t heard the Police Academy instructors mention it five years ago.
Let me clarify here: the teachers responsible for Police Academy internships are mostly active criminal police officers. They often take on the role of instructors to provide students with practical case analysis, bringing major and special cases to the classroom for discussion.
For a select few promising students, the teachers would engage in deeper discussions, using divergent thinking for multifaceted reasoning.
Five years ago, I encountered numerous murder cases, but never heard the name Xinhu High School from the instructors.
“Could it really be suicide?” I considered another possibility: the case was so significant that even the active criminal police at the time dared not disclose any details.
I tore down the notice and stuffed it into my pocket, finding a large bunch of keys labeled with dormitory numbers in the administrator’s drawer.
“The notice provided two pieces of information: first, the deceased was named Shen Mengting, and second, her dormitory was 4118.”
“Shen Mengting and Shen Meng differ by just one character. Is this hinting at something?” I shook the keys in my hand as I exited the room.
Xiumu and Yingzi stood outside the door. I waved to them, “I’m going upstairs. If you don’t want to come, stay outside and don’t wander off.”
“Wait, I’ll go with you.” Xiumu avoided Yingzi and ran into the dormitory building.
“Alright, Yingzi, be careful.”
The Little Girl stood alone at the door, and before heading up the stairs, I turned back to check on her once more.
Her eyes were fixed on my back, with a gaze that seemed to be looking at a dead person.
Inside the dormitory building, the floor was tiled and very clean, with no clutter in the stairway. Compared to the dilapidated stairs in the teaching building, this place was far better.
Reaching the fourth floor in one breath, I counted the numbers on the doors: “4111, 4112… 4118, here it is.”
Using my phone for light, I struggled to find the right key among the large bunch.
In the pitch-black, enclosed environment, standing before the deceased’s door, fear began to sprout in the eerie campus.
Xiumu, like a startled monkey, glanced around nervously, clutching my shirt: “Hey, hey, do you feel like something’s following us?”
He stared blankly into the depths of the staircase, “I keep feeling like something’s coming up.”
“Whoa, don’t freak me out,” I focused on finding the key, but Xiumu’s words made me curse under my breath.
My fingers were sweaty, and my heart was racing with unease.
“I’m not lying!” He shrank his neck, all the light now concentrated on the keys in my hand, surrounded by impenetrable darkness.
“It seems closer now, I feel it’s already on the third floor.” Xiumu’s words made my skin crawl, and I started feeling the same way.
“There really is something approaching.” The thought flashed through my mind-not footsteps, no sound at all, but an uncanny sense of something drawing near.
It was coming up from downstairs, slow and steady, like a lifeless shadow.
The darkness in the hallway grew thicker, pressing down until it was hard to breathe.
“Haven’t you found it yet? Hurry up! Maybe we should just run!”
“Stop yelling, I’m looking!” My hands moved faster, but the more anxious I got, the harder it was to find: “Damn it, why are there so many rooms in this building?”
Cold sweat trickled down my forehead, and I could truly feel it-right at the stairwell, in the unseen darkness behind me, something was rapidly closing in.
“Quick, quick!” Xiumu’s voice trembled with urgency, as if pale hands were reaching out in the darkness.
Finally finding the key, I didn’t even have time to grab the camera, pulling Xiumu inside and shutting the door to room 4118.
“Bang!” The door closed, and we leaned against each other, listening intently for any sound outside.
There was nothing, as if the chilling sensation was just a psychological illusion.
“That’s impossible.” The camera was working fine outside the door, and I took out the Underworld Showroom phone. The Ultimate Horror Live Room was currently broadcasting the scene in the hallway.
In the deep darkness, a glimpse of a blood-red dress seemed to flutter outside the door!
