The Ultimate Horror Live Stream - Chapter 26 - One Person Missing?
The third round of the game began. A tap on my shoulder signaled it was time to move forward and explore. If everything went as expected, this time I would pass by the empty corner.
Each step in the darkness was a struggle; no one knew what awaited ahead. Regret crept in, realizing the danger lurking in the campus. I shouldn’t have agreed to play this game with them.
Step by step, my hand finally reached the solid wall of the corner, confirming it was unoccupied. A sigh of relief escaped me; the game had gone smoothly without any anomalies.
“Cough, cough!” Following the rules, I coughed and moved to the next corner.
As I felt my way forward, accompanied by the “tap, tap” of footsteps, a shadow awaited ahead. A gentle tap on his shoulder, and I settled into the corner.
The game proceeded normally until the seventh round. As impatience and numbness set in, the coughing ceased.
One minute, two minutes, three minutes passed, yet the coughing never resumed. However, the “tap, tap” of footsteps remained clear!
“Is there an extra person in the room?” I resisted the urge to turn around, observing with my peripheral vision. The camera’s signal light flickered continuously by the window, where Yingzi stood motionless, like a lifeless figure.
“If Yingzi isn’t playing, then who is the extra person in the classroom?”
My heart raced faster, the darkness seemed to conceal vengeful ghosts from every angle.
“Listen up, everyone. It seems there’s an extra person in our game. We’re changing the rules,” Xiumu’s voice echoed uncertainly in the classroom. “The basic rules remain the same, but there’s an addition: when you tap the person in front of you, say your name. Alright, whoever’s turn it is, start from there.”
The footsteps never stopped. As I contemplated whether to end the game forcibly, a tap on my back startled me: “I’m Xiumu.”
The voice was slightly different from what I heard before, like someone speaking with their mouth full.
Without turning, I moved to the next corner.
“I’m the Streamer.” The person ahead heard this and staggered away, leaving me nervously stationed at the wall.
The game had gone through seven rounds, and I remembered each position change. Based on logical deduction and known clues, my position and Xiumu’s were normal, meaning no intruder had mixed in. “The extra person should be between Xue Fei and Shen Meng, or Shen Meng and Xiumu.”
Time passed, leaving only the sound of footsteps in the classroom. I counted seconds while deducing everyone’s position.
“Tap!” A gentle touch on my back: “I’m Shen Meng.”
“Shen Meng?!” Her voice sent chills down my spine. “How did she end up behind me?”
In the darkness, I didn’t turn back, moving stiffly forward.
“Some games shouldn’t be played casually, especially in places like this.” Shen Meng seemed to say more, but I didn’t catch it clearly.
Feeling the wall, I left with a sense of unease.
“That doesn’t make sense, does it? I can only hear one set of footsteps in the classroom. Where did Xiumu and Xue Fei go?” Unknowingly, I reached the next corner. “No one?”
The empty corner was swallowed by the thick darkness. I touched the wall in front of me, coughed lightly, and moved towards the next corner.
“Could it be that the fifth person has already left? Leaving one spot empty…”
Lost in thought, I was suddenly startled by the situation before me. The second corner was still empty!
“This…” I quickened my pace towards the third and fourth corners. “No one, still no one!”
Feeling the wall, my lips were dry. “Could they have been following me all along?”
I turned around abruptly, but there was only pitch blackness.
“The footsteps have stopped, and I’m the only one moving. No way, could it be that apart from me, the others are all…”
I looked towards the window, the camera’s signal light flickering. The girl named Yingzi was nowhere to be seen!
Standing in the corner, an unprecedented fear crept from all directions, as if countless eyes in the darkness were maliciously staring at me.
Unable to remain calm any longer, I dashed towards the window, the only source of light in my view.
Pushing open the window, I jumped into the corridor, leaving that eerie, oppressive black room behind. I felt as if I had been drained, sitting on the ground.
“Haha, turns out adults can be scared too!” Hearing the laughter, I looked over to see Xiumu, Xue Fei, and Yingzi hiding behind the classroom door, with Xiumu clutching his stomach, laughing heartily.
“When did you two come out?” I asked, eyeing them cautiously.
“We’ve been out for a while.”
“Then why did it seem like there was an extra person when four were playing?”
“Actually, there were only four of us in the classroom. The footsteps were because I kept moving. After tapping your shoulder, I returned to my original spot, creating the illusion of an extra person.” Xiumu explained proudly, showing no fear or dread of the dark typical of his peers.
“Pointless.” Xue Fei shrugged. “There’s no such thing as ghosts; it’s all made up to scare ourselves.”
“So it was just a prank.” Relieved, I put away the camera and stood up. “It’s good that nothing happened. The game’s over, you should all head home.”
It was already late into the night, and these kids’ parents were probably worried sick.
I glanced at the three kids before me. “Wait, we’re still missing someone. Where’s the short-haired girl named Shen Meng?”
“She hasn’t come out yet? Maybe she’s scared stiff in the classroom, haha!”
Xiumu chuckled, but his words were met with my stern expression. “Still, still hasn’t come out?”
“What’s wrong? Didn’t you figure out Xiumu’s prank and come out early?” Xue Fei noticed my unease and asked.
“No, I didn’t see through his prank. I searched the entire classroom, all four corners, and found no one before rushing out…” I tried to make my explanation simple and clear. “I checked, Shen Meng isn’t in the classroom…”
“Impossible!” The kids finally realized the gravity of the situation and rushed into the classroom. I pulled out my phone for light, but the room was empty and eerily silent.
“Shen Meng disappeared? Right under our noses?!”
“Shen Meng!” Xue Fei and the others’ shouts echoed through the deathly quiet teaching building, but no response came.
“Damn it! It’s all because you insisted on playing that four corner game!” Xue Fei grabbed Xiumu by the collar, lifting him off the ground.
“How can you blame me? We all agreed to come here for a test of courage, didn’t you also agree?” Xiumu, unable to resist the taller Xue Fei, flailed his arms helplessly. “Don’t panic, Shen Meng is brave. She might have left already and is hiding somewhere, laughing at us.”
“Do you think she’s as reckless as you?” Xue Fei’s anger grew, and he raised his fist to strike Xiumu.
“Calm down, now’s not the time to argue about who’s at fault.” I sighed, grabbing Xue Fei’s arm. “The priority is to find Shen Meng. This school becomes very eerie at night, and we don’t have time to waste fighting.”
Separating Xue Fei and Xiumu, I crouched in front of Yingzi. She hadn’t participated in the game and had been standing outside the classroom, possibly witnessing something.
“Yingzi, do you know where that sister went?” I had no experience dealing with children, so I tried to speak as gently as possible.
Dressed like a doll, Yingzi didn’t look at me, her eyes blankly fixed on the floor. She shook her head.
“This child is so introverted,” I thought. No matter what I asked, her responses were either a shake of the head or complete silence, as if she hadn’t heard.
“Streamer, what do we do now?”
“What else can we do?” I looked out at the ominous campus under the night sky. “We search every building. We have to find her.”
With a life at stake, I couldn’t just stand by, even though I knew this would drag me deeper into the chaos.
“Let’s check the teaching building again, then head to the laboratory building. You three stick close to me, and don’t get lost again.” Hoisting the camera, I led the way. While the others weren’t paying attention, I discreetly took out my phone to review the footage.
The video was very blurry, with only a sliver of light when passing by the window. Yet, that brief moment of brightness captured something chilling. There was someone in that classroom, following right behind me!
“So, you were lying…”
