The President's Sweetheart Secretary - Chapter 16 - The President's New Move
Liang Tongheng had a terrible day, absolutely terrible. Not only did he run into that disheveled woman again, but he also failed to catch her being late. It seemed she was a habitual offender. No, what frustrated him the most was losing track of her. However, this time he was sure she was indeed a company employee. With the previous experience, he decided not to waste energy on figuring out how to catch her.
After all, there was plenty of time.
Still, the president was in a foul mood. Just how foul? Well, seeing Li Yi burning the midnight oil at the office, chewing on his pen, gave a pretty good indication.
Stretching with a big yawn, Li Yi couldn’t help but grumble, “The president must have had an unsatisfactory night life. I wonder which girl failed him last night!”
“Thanks for your concern. Since you don’t seem tired, why not work another half hour?” Liang Tongheng leaned against the doorframe, his elegant lips delivering words that sounded like they came straight from hell.
Li Yi was suddenly wide awake, startled. With dawn approaching and another half hour of work, he might as well pull an all-nighter. Torn between sleep and dignity for a second, Li Yi sprang up, marched over to Liang Tongheng, and with a solemn face, clasped his hands together, pleading.
“Boss, please have mercy on me. I was just too sleepy and spouted nonsense. You’re magnanimous, don’t stoop to my level. I beg you, let me go freshen up and return rejuvenated. Is that okay?” Li Yi swore his teary expression was genuine.
Liang Tongheng snorted softly, his voice icy, “I’ll let it slide this time. Next time, I’ll sell you to a brothel.”
“As a handyman?” Li Yi asked foolishly. A man in a brothel could only be a client or a handyman.
Liang Tongheng glared, and Li Yi immediately wilted, not daring to act up again.
“Let’s go.” Seeing Li Yi behave, Liang Tongheng led the way out.
Li Yi cheered, bouncing back to grab his belongings, then hurried to catch up with Liang Tongheng. “President, how about grabbing a late-night snack? I know a great beef noodle place nearby.”
“Alright.” Liang Tongheng walked on without looking back.
Li Yi felt a strong urge to kneel and shout, “Long live the emperor!”
To catch this disheveled woman, Liang Tongheng pondered for a long time and decided to install a camera. Wait, a camera? Never mind the parking lot cameras, there must be one in the elevator. Calmly, Liang Tongheng picked up the phone and called Li Yi, “I need the video tape from elevator No. 1 for this Tuesday.”
Hanging up, Li Yi was puzzled. Was the president having another whim? Why did he need the elevator video tape? Was he prematurely entering menopause?
Having learned his lesson, Li Yi didn’t dare delay in fetching the video tape for the president. But he had no idea where to get it. When in doubt, ask the logistics department?
After hearing Li Yi’s request, Manager Lin turned to Yi Huahuan, “Huahuan, take the president’s assistant to the surveillance room.”
Yi Huahuan lifted her dazed eyes, struggling to recover. After inputting data for so long, she felt completely spaced out.
In broad daylight, Lin Haimian couldn’t slap Yi Huahuan awake, so she whispered, “Snap out of it, get going.”
Yi Huahuan, still not fully alert, mechanically stood up and walked out, even passing by Manager Lin and Li Yi without a word.
Lin Haimian facepalmed. Oh dear, could you not space out at a time like this? One of us offends the president, the other offends the president’s assistant, how are we supposed to survive in this company?
Yi Huahuan took a few more steps before realizing, muttering to herself, “Huh? Why did I come out?”
The volume was just enough for Manager Lin and Li Yi to hear. Manager Lin broke into a sweat and quickly called out, “Huahuan, this is the president’s assistant. Take him to the surveillance room.”
Li Yi “…”
Yi Huahuan’s face turned beet red, and she chuckled awkwardly, “Sorry, I’ve got numbers floating in front of my eyes. Please, this way.”
Due to the awkward incident, Yi Huahuan, usually outgoing and eager for a chance to interact with someone close to the president, was now subdued, not daring to act up.
If one of them offended the president and the other the president’s assistant, they might as well pack up and go home. What a pity to miss such a rare opportunity, she thought, feeling a pang of regret.
“We’re here. What are you looking for?” Yi Huahuan tried her best to flash a sweet smile, offering polite and attentive service, though the smile was a bit stiff.
Li Yi remained expressionless, not blinking, “The video tape from elevator No. 1 for this Tuesday.”
“Huh? Video tape? Haha, please wait a moment.” Yi Huahuan nearly wiped her brow.
