The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 299 - Liang Yi Wraps Up
The reporters’ questions were sharp, each one seemingly aimed at piercing Mo Qinghuan’s already wounded heart.
Huo-Jie shielded her as they got into the car, then turned to face the reporters. “We’re all women here. Can’t any of you feel the pain Qinghuan is going through right now? Have you no conscience? When Qinghuan was at the top, you were all scrambling for exclusive interviews, practically camping outside our company. Now that she’s in trouble, you’re all too eager to kick her while she’s down. Honestly, it’s like your consciences have been eaten by dogs!”
With that, Huo-Jie got into the car as well. Seeing Mo Qinghuan’s silence and red eyes since leaving the Police Station, she sighed and offered comfort. “Qinghuan, you mustn’t lose hope. Once we find the private investigator, Mr. Lu will come back safe and sound. Don’t forget why he took the blame for everything-it was all to protect you!”
“I understand, Huo-Jie. Don’t worry, I won’t let Yucheng spend his life in prison!” Mo Qinghuan clenched her fists. She was determined to get to the bottom of this, to ensure Lu Yucheng’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain.
By the seaside, the film Liang Yi was working on was wrapping up today. They were reshooting the final scene, where his character, the male lead, reunites with the female lead by the sea, expressing their feelings for each other.
This brought back memories for Liang Yi of his time in America, standing on the shore, watching Lu Yucheng and Mo Qinghuan reconcile. He remembered Mo Qinghuan’s sweet, happy smile back then. Unconsciously, he imagined her face on the female lead’s body.
Holding her close, tears welled in his eyes as he said, “All these years apart, do you know how much I’ve missed you? I searched for you overseas, but you were nowhere to be found. Promise me you’ll never leave me again, okay?”
Liang Yi’s heartfelt performance moved not only the director behind the camera but also the female lead, who was so influenced by his emotion that she couldn’t help but cry as well. She replied, “I promise, I’m back for good this time. I love you.”
The scene of them embracing under the sunset was beautiful and touching, like a painting. As the director called “cut,” Liang Yi released the female lead, bowing politely in thanks, while she responded with a hint of reluctance.
There’s no denying Liang Yi’s talent for acting. Though it was his first time, his performance exceeded everyone’s expectations, especially in the final scene. Audiences in theaters would surely be moved by it.
His agent had him sit down to rest while negotiating with the director’s team. If there was nothing else, Liang Yi had other commitments and would leave first.
As he closed his eyes to rest, he overheard two staff members whispering nearby, “Liang Yi truly deserves his new title as the rising star. His skilled acting reminds me of Mo Qinghuan. Their emotional scenes are both incredibly moving. I wonder if Liang Yi learned from Mo Qinghuan herself?”
“Shh, are you crazy? How can you mention that woman in the film crew? Don’t you know she’s now suspected by the police of hiring a hitman to kill Shen Meng? It’s better to keep her name off your lips to avoid trouble.”
“What? The police have confirmed that the private detective was hired by Mo Qinghuan? That’s terrifying. How could a Best Actress do such a thing? Even if her relationship with Shen Meng was bad, doing this would ruin her career. It’s such a pity.”
“Who knows? It’s the world of the rich. But I heard Mo Qinghuan was taken to the Police Station and released soon after. Apparently, her husband Lu Yucheng turned himself in. But you know, they are a couple. Who can say for sure who hired the detective? Anyway, Mo Qinghuan is in big trouble this time.”
Just as they finished speaking, they realized Liang Yi was standing behind them. His towering presence was intimidating, and his furrowed brow showed his displeasure. “What did you just say? Repeat what you said about Qinghuan-Jie.”
“Uh…” The two staff members thought Liang Yi was asleep, which is why they dared to mention Mo Qinghuan near him. Who would have thought he was awake? They felt a bit awkward.
At that moment, the agent returned, intending to take Liang Yi away, only to find him questioning the two staff members with a grim expression. The staff took the opportunity to slip away.
Liang Yi didn’t chase after them. Instead, he frowned at the agent and asked, “Did you know about Qinghuan-Jie’s trouble?”
“Well, it’s been the biggest news these days, so of course, I know. But Liang Yi, you were filming, and I didn’t want these messy things to distract you, so I didn’t tell you.” The agent seemed to answer calmly, as if he hadn’t done anything wrong, just fulfilling his duty as an agent.
However, this response made the usually good-natured Liang Yi furious. He glared at the agent and said, “What do you mean by messy things? Qinghuan-Jie is my benefactor. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Besides, we belong to the same talent agency. How could you keep such a big thing from me?”
If Liang Yi had known about Mo Qinghuan’s trouble earlier, he would have dropped everything to help her. But now, with things having progressed this far, he was only just finding out? He felt deeply guilty towards Mo Qinghuan.
The agent tried to explain, but Liang Yi didn’t want to listen. He got in his car to leave. Seeing this, the agent quickly tried to stop him, saying, “Liang Yi, where are you suddenly going? You have other commitments.”
“Then postpone them. I need to find Qinghuan-Jie.” With that, Liang Yi drove off towards the Lu family.
Watching the determined Liang Yi, the agent couldn’t help but sigh and mutter to himself, “I didn’t tell you because I feared you’d drop everything. Liang Yi, Mo Qinghuan is married. Continuing to be her protector, what can it change? You’re such a fool.”
Upon arriving at the Lu family home, Liang Yi walked into the hall and saw Huo-Jie there. He strode forward and, with a furrowed brow, apologized to the pale Mo Qinghuan, “I’m sorry, Qinghuan-Jie. The film just wrapped today, and I only found out about your situation. It’s all my agent’s fault for not telling me sooner. If I had known, I wouldn’t have come so late.”
Both Mo Qinghuan and Huo-Jie were surprised by Liang Yi’s appearance. They had only heard he was focused on filming and that his acting had been praised by the director. Mo Qinghuan was genuinely happy for him. But why had Liang Yi suddenly come to the Lu family?
