The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 292 - A Warm Welcome
Mo Qinghuan’s words tugged at Lu Yucheng’s heartstrings.
Turning around, he enveloped her in a gentle embrace, softly reassuring her, “I’m sorry, Qinghuan, for making you worry. I promise I won’t do anything wrong. Just be patient until I return, and then I’ll tell you everything, alright?”
“I’ll trust you one more time. But if you choose to hide things from me again, I will truly be upset.” Though it sounded like a warning, Mo Qinghuan didn’t want to sound too firm. Her anger, as she mentioned, would dissipate with just a little coaxing from Lu Yucheng.
Fortunately, this uncertain warning worked well on Lu Yucheng. He nodded, smiled in agreement, and kissed Mo Qinghuan’s forehead before leaving the Lu family estate.
Watching his car disappear into the distance, Mo Qinghuan felt as if a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe. Although she didn’t know where Lu Yucheng was heading, she suspected it had something to do with the mysterious figure the maid had mentioned, the one orchestrating everything from behind the scenes.
Frowning, she didn’t want to see Lu Yucheng running around alone. She took out her phone and dialed the number of the elusive private detective, only to find that the phone was still turned off.
Frustrated, it seemed the person was deliberately hiding, not wanting to be found by her. Or perhaps something had happened that scared them into cutting off all contact?
Standing in the hall, she suddenly felt the absurdity of the world.
Outside the Lu Group, Lu Yucheng parked his car in the lot. Ever since his shares in the Lu Group had been taken away, he hadn’t set foot in this place. If it weren’t for Mo Qinghuan, he wouldn’t have bothered coming. But he needed to confront Lu Xuan for answers.
As the former Chairman, Lu Yucheng’s appearance in a suit immediately caught the attention of everyone in the lobby, causing a stir. “Am I seeing things? Isn’t that the former Chairman, Lu Yucheng?”
“Didn’t he sever all ties with the Lu Group? Why would someone who hasn’t shown up in ages suddenly appear now?”
“I have a bad feeling about this. Mr. Lu looks serious. Is he here to confront our CEO and reclaim his position?”
The receptionist, looking incredulous, quickly called Secretary Wang, reporting Lu Yucheng’s unexpected visit in detail.
Coincidentally, Lu Xuan was nearby. Secretary Wang nervously relayed the information to him. Lu Xuan frowned, put down his teacup, and asked, “Is the receptionist sure they didn’t mistake him for someone else? It’s really Lu Yucheng?”
Even Lu Xuan found it hard to believe. Lu Yucheng was known for his strong sense of pride. This was evident when he quietly left the Lu Group without a fuss after losing all his shares. Yet, here he was, unexpectedly reappearing. Lu Xuan’s lips curled into a cold, amused smile.
Secretary Wang nodded confidently, “There can be no mistake. After Mr. Lu took over Lu Group, he kept the previous receptionists to make a good impression on the employees. They’ve seen Lu Yucheng countless times. Mr. Lu, do you want me to have him removed?”
“He’s part of the Lu family, after all. Now that he’s here, it would be too easy to just kick him out, wouldn’t it?” Lu Xuan’s eyes gleamed with a cold light. “Of course, we should give him a proper ‘welcome.'”
The so-called ‘welcome’ was anything but friendly. Seeing the playful expression on Lu Xuan’s face, Secretary Wang immediately grasped his true intentions and nodded in agreement. “Yes, Mr. Lu. Since Lu Yucheng has come to us, it would be impolite to simply drive him away.”
“You understand well,” Lu Xuan replied.
Secretary Wang then mentioned the incident at the airport where reporters had swarmed Lu Yucheng and Mo Qinghuan as they were about to leave the country, conducting an extensive interview. “Perhaps Lu Yucheng’s sudden visit is related to that report?”
“That makes it even more interesting. I’m curious to hear what unpleasant things Lu Yucheng might say,” Lu Xuan said, his interest piqued after reading the report.
Watching Lu Xuan, who exuded a sinister aura even under the sunlight, Secretary Wang was convinced that Lu Yucheng would gain nothing from this encounter.
In the lobby, Lu Yucheng seemed unfazed by the whispers around him as he strode confidently toward the elevator. Not a single security guard stopped him, which he knew wasn’t due to negligence or lingering respect for him as the former Chairman. It was clear that Lu Xuan had orchestrated this, meaning he was aware of Lu Yucheng’s uninvited visit. Fine, let him know-Lu Yucheng was here to demand answers!
As he reached the familiar floor and passed by the well-known surroundings, Lu Yucheng felt a wave of nostalgia, especially when he approached the office where he had spent so much time. Just as he was about to push the door open, it swung open from the inside.
Standing there was none other than Secretary Wang, Lu Xuan’s constant companion, as cunning and sly as his boss.
Clearly prepared for Lu Yucheng’s arrival, Secretary Wang showed no surprise. He smiled and bowed politely, “Mr. Lu, our Mr. Lu has been expecting you since he heard you were coming and has set aside his work to welcome you.”
“I told you before not to put on that hypocritical face, didn’t I? Have you forgotten so soon, or is such deceit a requirement to stay by Lu Xuan’s side?” Lu Yucheng glanced at Secretary Wang with disdain, his expression stern and unyielding.
Secretary Wang, however, showed no anger at Lu Yucheng’s words. He merely nodded, seemingly humble, and replied, “Yes, Mr. Lu, I remember your words well. But this is just how I naturally look. If it displeases you, then it’s my fault.”
Secretary Wang’s respectful demeanor seemed to convey a sense of deference to Lu Yucheng, but Lu Yucheng wasn’t fooled by this facade.
Curious employees peeked out from their offices, eager to witness the scene. But Secretary Wang suddenly turned stern, warning them, “Don’t you all have work to do? Or do you want to be thrown out of Lu Group like some people?”
The ‘some people’ clearly referred to Lu Yucheng, yet Secretary Wang maintained a smiling facade as he continued, “Mr. Lu, your presence here is quite special. Lingering outside the office only fuels more curiosity among the staff. Why not step inside and avoid creating more gossip?”
With a casual gesture, Secretary Wang subtly reminded Lu Yucheng of his current status-no longer part of Lu Group.
