The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 287 - Cornered and Chased
Lu Yucheng’s playful whining was like that of a child. Mo Qinghuan couldn’t help but laugh at his pitiful expression, with his eyes blinking innocently.
Holding Little Bun, Mo Qinghuan pointed at Lu Yucheng’s face full of mock grievance and teased, “Little Bun, look at your brother. Isn’t he just like you, a little kid?”
“Hee, brother is a little kid, a little kid,” Little Bun clapped his hands joyfully, and the previously tense atmosphere quickly dissipated with his laughter.
Lu Yucheng finally saw Mo Qinghuan’s smile, making his earlier effort to act pitiful worthwhile, all in hopes of cheering her up.
After the laughter faded, Lu Yucheng continued to gaze at Mo Qinghuan. No one knew that he was truly saying goodbye-not just for her brief overnight trip, but for the possibility of not seeing his wife for over half a month.
With a gentle smile, he said, “Remember to call me once you land. I’ve arranged for someone to pick you up. They’ll take you back to the small town where you used to stay.”
“If possible, have them keep an eye on Little Bun too. The little guy might be staying in America for a while, and he might not adjust immediately. I just can’t stop worrying.” If it weren’t for the special circumstances this time, Mo Qinghuan would never consider letting Little Bun leave her side.
But Lu Yucheng was right; adults can handle some hardship, but Little Bun is still young. Mo Qinghuan didn’t want to leave any scars on his heart, so she and Lu Yucheng decided to send Little Bun to America, where a kind neighbor agreed to look after him for a few days.
Lu Yucheng nodded in agreement, while the little guy, who had been engrossed in his toys, suddenly showed a sad expression upon hearing the conversation between Lu Yucheng and Mo Qinghuan. His eyes filled with tears as he looked at Mo Qinghuan and asked:
“Isn’t older sister taking Little Bun to play this time? Do brother and sister not like Little Bun anymore? Is that why they want to send Little Bun to America? Did Little Bun do something wrong to make brother and sister dislike him?”
It turns out that even kindergarten kids can pick up on things said in front of them. Little Bun was the perfect example, clearly understanding that Mo Qinghuan wouldn’t be staying in America with him, and he cried in distress.
Seeing this, Mo Qinghuan quickly hugged Little Bun to comfort him, and Lu Yucheng also soothed him, saying, “Little Bun, don’t overthink it. Older sister is going to America to play with you. I misspoke earlier, and I’ll correct it. I won’t say it again, okay?”
“That’s right, Little Bun. Your brother has apologized to you. Didn’t you tell me before that you’re a brave boy? When someone apologizes to a brave boy, what should he say? Tell me.” Mo Qinghuan intentionally shifted Little Bun’s focus, and this tactic worked well for him.
Little Bun nodded, casting a suspicious glance at the two of them before finally wiping away his tears. He said to Lu Yucheng, “Little Bun forgives you, older brother. The teacher said that when someone apologizes, you should say you forgive them. That’s what polite kids do.”
“Older sister knew Little Bun was the best. You didn’t disappoint me,” Mo Qinghuan said, relieved as the little one finally stopped crying.
Lu Yucheng and Mo Qinghuan exchanged glances, both looking a bit awkward. Lu Yucheng gestured for her to be quiet, indicating that it was best not to speak carelessly in front of Little Bun. After all, the little guy was growing up and becoming more perceptive; he could understand the meaning behind adult conversations.
Lu Yucheng prepared to get out of the car and reminded Mo Qinghuan, “Wait until the procedures are done before you get out. I’m worried someone at the airport might recognize you.”
“Got it. I’ll stay in the car and play with Little Bun for a while,” Mo Qinghuan nodded. As a public figure, she needed to minimize her appearances in crowded places. Otherwise, if people saw her taking Little Bun to America, the rumors would only increase.
Despite their seemingly flawless plan, as soon as Lu Yucheng stepped out of the car, reporters appeared as if from nowhere, immediately surrounding him. Mo Qinghuan quickly held Little Bun close, shielding him from the flashing lights outside.
“Older sister, I can’t breathe,” Little Bun tried to squirm out of Mo Qinghuan’s embrace. Although he loved cuddling with her, this suffocating hug was uncomfortable.
Mo Qinghuan loosened her grip slightly and whispered, “Little Bun, be good. I’m protecting you from being photographed by those reporters. Keep your head down and don’t look at the cameras, okay?”
“Okay, Little Bun understands,” the little one replied obediently, even in this situation, not disappointing Mo Qinghuan, which was somewhat comforting.
Outside the car, Lu Yucheng wasn’t as fortunate. Surrounded by cameras, he tried to shield the car’s rear window with his body, preventing Mo Qinghuan and Little Bun from being exposed to the cameras.
“What are you doing? Move aside! You’re disrupting my normal life, you know?” Lu Yucheng frowned, ordering the reporters to step back. He was puzzled; besides a few maids at home, no one knew about their airport plans. Who had tipped off the reporters?
Perhaps it was because Lu Yucheng was no longer the Chairman of the Lu Group, or maybe it was the reporters’ determination to interview Mo Qinghuan. They didn’t heed Lu Yucheng’s words and instead thrust microphones at him, bombarding him with questions:
“We received news that Mr. Lu is sending Miss Mo and her illegitimate child abroad. Is this true?”
“Why is Mr. Lu doing this? This morning, Miss Shen’s body was found in the suburbs, reportedly unclothed and assaulted before her death. Can you let Miss Mo out to say a few words about this?”
“Yes, Mr. Lu, let her speak. We all know Miss Mo and Miss Shen never got along. What’s Miss Mo’s take on this?”
The reporters’ questions were sharp, and what infuriated Lu Yucheng the most was their blatant claim that Little Bun was an illegitimate child.
He was furious, his gaze sharp as he rebuked them, “Do you reporters speak without facts? What illegitimate child? Do you want me to sue you for defamation? As for why Qinghuan is going abroad, that’s our business, and we don’t need to report to any of you. Move aside. Regarding Shen Meng’s matter, we have nothing to say.”
Lu Yucheng blocked the reporters’ cameras but still didn’t dare open the car door, uncertain of what further outrageous statements the reporters might make.
