The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 282 - A Sense of Caution
Shen Meng’s overbearing attitude irked Secretary Wang. He quickly pulled her aside and warned, “Miss Shen, please mind your behavior. This is the Lu Group, not a place for you to act out on a whim.”
“But I really have something important to discuss with Mr. Lu. Secretary Wang, please take me to him quickly,” Shen Meng pleaded, her previous arrogance replaced by a tone of desperation, hoping Secretary Wang would expedite her meeting with Lu Xuan to help resolve her legal troubles.
“Miss Shen, no matter what you say, Mr. Lu is currently in a meeting and won’t have time to see you.” Despite not knowing the specifics of Shen Meng’s predicament, Secretary Wang was certain Lu Xuan wouldn’t interrupt his meeting for her.
It was as if Shen Meng, already on the brink of despair, felt her world crumble completely. She nearly collapsed, looking utterly lost.
Other employees glanced at her, wondering if this was the same Shen Meng who had been boasting about her special relationship with Lu Xuan and trying to force her way into the Lu Group. How could she now appear so different from before?
Observing her, Secretary Wang finally said, “Here’s what we can do. Mr. Lu will have some free time during dinner. I’ll arrange for him to meet Miss Shen at a nearby upscale café. I hope Miss Shen will pay attention to her appearance then and not embarrass Mr. Lu.”
“Thank you, Secretary Wang. I’ll make sure to do that,” Shen Meng replied, grateful for the chance to meet Lu Xuan. She realized she had been so anxious that she forgot to change her clothes, and appearing so unkempt at the Lu Group, it was no wonder no one believed her connection with Lu Xuan was special.
With an awkward smile, Shen Meng hurriedly left. After she was gone, the receptionist quietly asked Secretary Wang, “Secretary Wang, should we let Miss Shen through if she comes again?”
Given Shen Meng’s interaction with Secretary Wang, it seemed she might indeed have a deep connection with Lu Xuan. If she was truly someone important to Lu Xuan, and the staff mistakenly blocked her, it could jeopardize their jobs.
But Secretary Wang, with a cold glare at Shen Meng’s departing figure, replied with a sneer in his voice, “No need. Just focus on your duties. Women like her don’t deserve to meet Mr. Lu.”
“Understood, Secretary Wang,” the receptionist nodded in agreement.
Out of the corner of his eye, Secretary Wang noticed a mysterious black car following Shen Meng as she left. Was it a coincidence, or was someone deliberately tailing her? Secretary Wang frowned, pondering the situation.
Lu family.
Lu Yucheng learned from his friend who works as a prosecutor that Mo Qinghuan had taken Shen Meng to court. After hanging up the phone, he stood on the staircase, watching Mo Qinghuan play happily with Little Bun in the hall. From her back, one would never guess she was a woman embroiled in a lawsuit.
“Qinghuan?” Lu Yucheng couldn’t help but call out to her.
Mo Qinghuan turned at the sound of his voice, meeting his gaze. She responded with a simple “Hmm?” and asked, “What’s up?”
She had clearly heard him talking on the phone in the room earlier, though she didn’t know who was calling. Mo Qinghuan hadn’t disturbed him until Lu Yucheng called her. Seeing the concern in his eyes, Mo Qinghuan put down Little Bun’s toy and walked towards him, puzzled. “Why are you looking at me like that? Even if you don’t, everyone knows we’re married.”
“I heard about the lawsuit with Shen Meng,” Lu Yucheng sighed with some guilt. “It’s my fault for being so caught up with the nursing home lately, neglecting your matters. I only found out now. Qinghuan, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Just Shen Meng, what’s there to say?” Mo Qinghuan shrugged, her tone casual as she continued, “In showbiz, she was no match for me. Outside of it, she’s still a loser in front of me. Besides, she started by spreading false rumors online, and I’ve got plenty of evidence to sue her. It’s a piece of cake. You’re busy taking care of mother-in-law every day; I didn’t want to burden you.”
Lu Yucheng gently stroked Mo Qinghuan’s hair, touched by her words, and couldn’t help but smile bitterly. “I’m not worried about you losing to Shen Meng. It’s just that you mentioned before there’s a mysterious person backing her. We still don’t know who that is or their influence. If you rashly go to court with Shen Meng, and she seeks help from that person, I’m afraid my current abilities might not be enough to help. I’m worried…”
“Worried?” Mo Qinghuan removed Lu Yucheng’s hand from her head, holding it as she smiled. “Who should be worried about whom is still uncertain! I’m suing Shen Meng not just because she spread rumors and damaged my reputation, but also because I’m curious about who that mysterious person is.”
With a cold smile, she had just received a call from the person sent to follow Shen Meng, saying that after receiving the court summons, Shen Meng was frantically seeking help. It seemed the identity of the mysterious person would soon be revealed.
“I can’t let you take such a risk. I’m your husband; I should be the one protecting you from harm. I’ll investigate the identity of that mysterious person. Qinghuan, promise me you won’t put yourself in danger.” Lu Yucheng was getting anxious. He knew Mo Qinghuan was a smart woman, but they were in the open, while the enemy was hidden, making their situation more precarious.
Seeing Lu Yucheng’s anxious expression, Mo Qinghuan tried to soothe him by agreeing half-heartedly, “Alright, I understand, Yucheng. Don’t be upset. Little Bun and I are hungry. How about we think about what to have for dinner?”
Mo Qinghuan’s smile didn’t completely erase Lu Yucheng’s worries. Knowing her personality, he couldn’t help but be more concerned. Looking at her smiling face, Lu Yucheng silently asked himself, “Qinghuan, you won’t listen to me, will you? You’ll still risk yourself for the truth, won’t you? But you’re my wife, the woman I love most in this life. How could I bear to let you face danger alone?”
Even though they weren’t looking at each other, Mo Qinghuan seemed to hear Lu Yucheng’s thoughts. She responded silently, “Yucheng, you’re hiding something from me, I can sense it. But why won’t you be honest with me? I’m sorry, I can’t wait for your answers forever. I want to investigate myself. It’s not recklessness; it’s because I care about you. Forgive me, okay?”
They seemed like a harmonious family, but both Lu Yucheng and Mo Qinghuan harbored their own thoughts, cleverly concealing them. They thought they were keeping their secrets from each other, but in reality, they saw through each other completely, leaving nothing hidden.
