The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 274 - Intensive Care Unit
Following the voice, Father Lu stood at the doorway, leaning on his cane, moving as swiftly as he could towards Lu Yucheng. Mother Lu sensed something was amiss and struggled to rise, but her body hadn’t fully recovered. She held Lu Yucheng’s hand and asked Father Lu, “Why are you so angry all of a sudden?”
“Hmph! A doting mother spoils the child,” Father Lu glared at Mother Lu before turning his gaze to Lu Yucheng, bluntly questioning, “Did you cut off your brother’s supply chain and report his product quality as unreliable? Was this your doing?”
“This is what Lu Xuan deserves. Besides, if his company’s products weren’t truly problematic, my anonymous report wouldn’t have affected him. The inspection results showed that Lu Xuan’s company’s products were severely substandard. Using the Lu family’s name, Lu Xuan disregarded everything for profit. Father, haven’t you always despised such behavior?”
Father Lu, having been in business for years, always conducted his affairs honestly and diligently, teaching Lu Yucheng the same. Yet Lu Xuan defied Father Lu’s principles, clearly at fault. Would Father Lu overlook this?
However, after hearing Lu Yucheng’s explanation, Father Lu didn’t find Lu Xuan’s actions inappropriate. Instead, he continued to reprimand Lu Yucheng, saying, “Even if you knew about the product quality issues, Lu Xuan is your brother. Family should stick together. How could you, for your own gain, push Lu Xuan’s company to the brink? Do you know how much damage you’ve caused him? If Secretary Wang hadn’t spoken up, I’d still be in the dark!”
“Even if Secretary Wang said it, he was under Lu Xuan’s orders. As his secretary, would he dare speak recklessly in front of you without Lu Xuan’s approval?” Lu Yucheng sneered, ignoring Mother Lu’s attempts to stop him, countering Father Lu’s bias towards Lu Xuan.
It wasn’t that Lu Yucheng was unfilial; he simply wanted Father Lu to see Lu Xuan’s true nature, not to blindly regard him as a good person out of guilt.
Unexpectedly, Lu Yucheng’s words completely enraged Father Lu, who shouted, “At this point, you still refuse to admit your mistake? Fine, Lu Yucheng, since you dare act this way, from now on, we sever our father-son ties! Lu Xuan will be my only son.”
Lu Yucheng was stunned, incredulously trying to stop Father Lu. Even if he favored Lu Xuan, there should be limits. How could he casually speak of severing their father-son relationship?
Mother Lu, hearing this, suddenly felt her heart discomfort worsen, yet she still apologized on Lu Yucheng’s behalf, saying, “Old man, how can you say such hurtful things? Yucheng is still a child. If you think he’s wrong, tell him to correct it. Severing father-son ties? Yucheng is my flesh and blood!”
“A piece of flesh that can disregard blood ties for profit, what’s the point of keeping it?” Father Lu’s mind was made up. If Lu Yucheng continued to oppose Lu Xuan, he would unconditionally side with Lu Xuan, abandoning Lu Yucheng, who shared the same blood.
Mother Lu fainted again upon hearing those words, and Lu Yucheng hurriedly called for a nurse. Soon, she was taken to the intensive care unit, and the situation looked grim.
Father Lu was now completely flustered. He hadn’t anticipated that this would worsen Mother Lu’s condition, which was not the outcome he desired. It was Lu Yucheng’s drastic actions that had provoked his fury.
Late at night, Lu Yucheng returned home, looking exhausted. Mo Qinghuan, worried, had stayed up waiting for him. Seeing his lost and forlorn expression, her intuition told her that Lu Yucheng was facing difficulties.
She approached him, asking with calm concern, “Yucheng, did something happen? Why do you look so troubled?”
“Mom was taken to the intensive care unit,” Lu Yucheng revealed, sitting on the sofa like a wronged child, silently shedding tears.
Mo Qinghuan comforted him, holding his back, “When I took Little Bun to see mother-in-law earlier, the doctor clearly said she was out of danger. How did she end up in intensive care?”
Helplessly, Lu Yucheng recounted how he had crushed Lu Xuan’s company, inciting Father Lu’s wrath, who then threatened to sever their father-son relationship. Mo Qinghuan was shocked. Even though she had sensed that Lu Yucheng had been secretly maneuvering behind her back, she hadn’t expected Father Lu to utter such words over Lu Xuan.
It was evident that Father Lu was accustomed to having his way and tolerated no defiance, even from his own son. However, given Mother Lu’s precarious condition, Mo Qinghuan decided to accompany Lu Yucheng to visit her the next day and apologize to Father Lu, hoping to ease the tension between them and reassure Mother Lu, aiding her recovery.
Yet, when they arrived at the hospital the next day, they were met with Father Lu’s dismissal. Already angry with Lu Yucheng, he was even less inclined to let Mo Qinghuan stay a moment longer.
He scoffed, “I’ll ensure your mother is cared for. I don’t need your involvement. I don’t want to see you here. Get out of the hospital!”
“Uncle Lu, I know you dislike me. How about this? I won’t enter the ward, but could Yucheng go in to see mother-in-law? He worried all night and hasn’t rested well,” Mo Qinghuan tried to negotiate.
But Father Lu rejected her proposal outright, scoffing, “It’s good you realize I don’t want you around. If Lu Yucheng hadn’t harmed Lu Xuan’s company, his mother wouldn’t be in intensive care. This is all your own doing. Now you want to show concern? It’s too late!”
Mo Qinghuan wanted to say more, but Lu Yucheng stopped her. He shook his head, indicating that further discussion was futile. Father Lu’s decisions were unchangeable, and Lu Yucheng was more concerned about Mother Lu’s health, unwilling to continue arguing with Father Lu, knowing that Mother Lu would hate to see discord between father and son.
As they turned to leave, they inadvertently noticed a man standing in Mother Lu’s ward. Perhaps sensing Lu Yucheng’s puzzled gaze, the man turned, revealing himself to be none other than Lu Xuan.
Father Lu wouldn’t allow Lu Yucheng to visit his own mother, yet he let Lu Xuan freely enter her ward? Who knows what this desperate madman might do to Mother Lu?
On the way back, Lu Yucheng furrowed his brow, saying nothing. Mo Qinghuan assumed his unhappiness stemmed from Father Lu’s rejection and reassured him that she would continue accompanying him to the hospital until Father Lu forgave them.
But unbeknownst to her, Lu Yucheng couldn’t wait until tomorrow. As they left, Lu Xuan’s sinister smirk lingered in Lu Yucheng’s mind, prompting him to make a decision that even Mo Qinghuan was unaware of.
