The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 271 - Visiting the Sick
Mo Qinghuan felt deeply for Mother Lu. She was a traditional woman who had spent her life tirelessly supporting her husband and son. When faced with their arguments, she had hoped to resolve things peacefully. Yet, the stress and worry led to a relapse of her heart condition, which was truly unfortunate.
“Yucheng, I want to take Little Bun to the hospital tomorrow to visit mother-in-law.” Knowing about this situation, Mo Qinghuan couldn’t just stay at home pretending nothing was wrong. Bringing Little Bun along was a good idea since Mother Lu adored him last time; seeing him might cheer her up.
Although Lu Yucheng knew Mo Qinghuan was very filial, he was still worried. Who knew if Lu Xuan might try to harm Mo Qinghuan again? He frowned and said, “Qinghuan, I understand your intention to visit the hospital, but you need to be careful about your safety. I don’t want the poisoning incident to happen again. I really can’t lose you, you understand?”
“Of course I understand. But I know how important your mother is to you. Since you’re busy with work and can’t visit her, I can go and keep her company for you.” Mo Qinghuan knew what Lu Yucheng was most concerned about, and she smiled wryly, continuing, “Besides, you’ve arranged for private bodyguards for me. They’ll accompany me to the hospital. With so many people protecting me, do you still need to worry?”
Finally convinced by Mo Qinghuan’s reasoning, Lu Yucheng sighed and pulled her into his arms, whispering gently, “Alright, everything will go according to your wishes, as long as you ensure your safety.”
After holding each other closely for a while, Lu Yucheng seemed to remember something and went to make a phone call. When the spacious living room was left with just Mo Qinghuan and Little Bun, the little one curiously asked, “Older sister, is grandma sick and in the hospital?”
The little guy was perceptive, noticing Lu Yucheng’s troubled expression, so he didn’t voice his doubts earlier. He wasn’t afraid of Mo Qinghuan, so he could ask freely.
“Yes,” Mo Qinghuan nodded, then gently touched Little Bun’s adorable face, continuing, “Tomorrow, older sister will take Little Bun to visit her. When the time comes, Little Bun should behave well to make grandma happy so she can recover quickly.”
“Okay, Little Bun will sing and dance for grandma. We learned a new song in kindergarten today, and I’ll sing it for grandma.” The little guy nodded, seemingly already preparing a performance for tomorrow.
Watching the little one bouncing around, Mo Qinghuan smiled warmly. Thankfully, she was safe and sound; otherwise, it might have been difficult to witness such a beautiful scene and hear Lu Yucheng’s gentle whispers.
The next day, after Lu Yucheng left for work, Mo Qinghuan took Little Bun to the hospital, escorted by several bodyguards, to visit Mother Lu’s ward.
Mo Qinghuan and Little Bun tiptoed into the ward, noticing that the nurse hadn’t removed the blood pressure monitor yet. Mo Qinghuan kindly reminded her, “Nurse, if the blood pressure measurement is done, shouldn’t it be taken off?”
“Huh?” The young nurse was momentarily stunned, then realized her oversight. She quickly apologized repeatedly and removed the monitor, leaving the ward with an embarrassed expression.
Mother Lu, who had been sleeping, vaguely heard Mo Qinghuan’s voice. She opened her eyes and indeed saw Mo Qinghuan and Little Bun standing at the door. Mo Qinghuan smiled and said, “Mother-in-law, I’m sorry I couldn’t visit you sooner. Some unpleasant things happened to me recently, and I’ve heard from Yucheng. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have argued with Uncle Lu, and you wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital.”
“Silly child, don’t say such distant things among family. Those two, father and son, have identical tempers, both stubborn,” Mother Lu struggled to sit up, and Mo Qinghuan quickly helped her. Seeing Mo Qinghuan’s filial piety, Mother Lu continued with satisfaction, “Besides, my hospital stay isn’t entirely without benefits. At least it paused their father-son conflict, didn’t it?”
Mo Qinghuan truly admired Mother Lu. Even while lying in a hospital bed, she could still joke optimistically. If it were Mo Qinghuan in her place, she doubted she could manage that.
Shaking Little Bun’s hand, Mo Qinghuan smiled and reminded him, “Little Bun, didn’t you say you missed Grandma and wanted to show her the new song you learned at kindergarten? Why are you quiet now that you see her?”
Mo Qinghuan knew Little Bun had prepared his performance late into the night. The little guy was really dedicated, but it was only his second meeting with Mother Lu, so he was understandably a bit shy. With Mo Qinghuan’s encouragement, he approached Mother Lu’s bedside, bowed, and said, “Grandma, I came to see you. Are you still in pain?”
“Little Bun is so thoughtful. Seeing you makes Grandma feel no pain at all,” Mother Lu was indeed fond of Little Bun, holding his soft little hand with a look of kindness in her eyes.
Little Bun then performed a nursery rhyme and recited poetry in the ward, charming Mother Lu with his clever antics. After chatting happily for a while, the little guy grew tired and ran to the sofa to watch cartoons. Mother Lu noticed Mo Qinghuan’s face didn’t look well and asked with concern:
“And you, Qinghuan? The rumors must be giving you a headache, right? While I say I understand, I’m not in Showbiz, and I can’t imagine the pressure you must bear physically.”
“No, mother-in-law, thank you for your concern. I shouldn’t be causing you worry,” Mo Qinghuan was moved by Mother Lu’s warm words, tears welling up in her eyes. Holding Mother Lu’s hand, she choked up:
“I’m really worried you won’t believe me. Liang Yi is just a good brother to me, and that candid photo is completely fabricated.”
Mo Qinghuan didn’t want to burden Mother Lu, who had just undergone surgery, with the fact that Lu Xuan was involved with the movie’s investment. After expressing her worries, Mother Lu comforted her empathetically, assuring her that as Lu Yucheng’s chosen wife, they were all family, and no matter what difficulties she faced, they would have her back.
Mo Qinghuan was so touched she couldn’t find the words to express her feelings, only thinking that Mother Lu was truly a rare gem of a mother-in-law.
At Lu’s company, as soon as Lu Yucheng arrived at work, his secretary hurriedly brought a stack of documents and placed them in front of him, saying, “Mr. Lu, I’ve prepared all the documents you requested over the phone last night.”
“These are the companies doing business with Lu Xuan’s firm, right?” Lu Yucheng’s gaze was stern. Indeed, he had specifically instructed the secretary to prepare these. He had thought it through seriously; if he wanted Mo Qinghuan to be safe in the future, the best way was to completely crush Lu Xuan and send him packing back abroad!
