The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 270 - Irreconcilable Differences
After Secretary Wang left, Lu Xuan looked at the furious Lu Yucheng and asked with a smile, “We are indeed related by blood, but when did our relationship become so close that you had to storm into my office like this?”
“Did you do that thing?” Lu Yucheng was referring to the incident where Mo Qinghuan was poisoned. Apart from Lu Xuan, he couldn’t think of anyone else capable of such a despicable act.
However, Lu Xuan was genuinely confused by Lu Yucheng’s question. He frowned and said, “What are you talking about? You need to clarify things before I can understand what I’ve done wrong to make you so angry.”
“Stop pretending! Qinghuan was poisoned in the hospital. Are you saying you have nothing to do with that?” No matter how Lu Xuan tried to defend himself today, Lu Yucheng would never believe he was innocent.
“I’ve indeed heard about the poisoning news of my sister-in-law, but do you have any evidence that links me to the incident?” Lu Xuan scoffed and continued, “If you have no evidence, then please leave my office immediately. Don’t spread rumors here and tarnish my reputation.”
Smack!
Before Lu Xuan could finish speaking, his cheek was met with a fiery punch. Lu Yucheng’s arm remained suspended in mid-air as he stared at the denying Lu Xuan and said furiously, “Still trying to argue? Lu Xuan, I knew from the moment you returned that your intentions weren’t pure. You might have fooled our father, but you can’t fool me. I’m warning you, from today onwards, I, Lu Yucheng, am officially cutting ties with you!”
The punch caught Lu Xuan off guard, knocking him to the ground with a trickle of blood emerging from the corner of his mouth. Seething, he scrambled up and grabbed Lu Yucheng by the collar, shouting, “Have you lost your mind? What kind of place do you think this is? How dare you hit me?”
“To you, this may be an office, but to me, this is exactly where I should hit you, Lu Xuan. Since you’ve hurt Qinghuan, I won’t hold back anymore. I will make sure you pay the price soon enough!”
With those words, Lu Yucheng left, leaving a furious Lu Xuan behind, wiping the blood from his lip. Secretary Wang, upon hearing the commotion, rushed over and saw the mess and Lu Xuan’s swollen cheek. He hurriedly approached and asked, “Mr. Lu, you’re bleeding. Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“No need.” Lu Xuan replied coldly, his fists clenched as he watched Lu Yucheng’s retreating figure.
True to his word, after giving Lu Xuan a warning, Lu Yucheng returned to the talent agency to pick up Mo Qinghuan and prepare to take her home for recovery. Before leaving, Huo-Jie said, “Qinghuan, the company has already held a meeting. Until the police find the perpetrator of the poisoning, all your projects are to be postponed. Go home and take good care of yourself.”
“I understand, Huo-Jie. Actually, that was my plan as well. If someone can do such a thing in broad daylight, I can’t be sure they won’t continue to harm me,” Mo Qinghuan nodded in agreement.
Lu Yucheng wrapped his arms around her and vowed, “Don’t worry, Qinghuan. From now on, I will personally arrange for someone to take care of your meals and daily needs, ensuring nothing goes wrong.”
“I’ll call you if there’s any news,” Huo-Jie said, watching the two leave, hoping the heavens would be kind to Mo Qinghuan, for she was such a good person.
Back at the Lu family home, Lu Yucheng settled her on the sofa and then gathered all the maids in the villa, assigning them the task of taking care of Mo Qinghuan, along with some important precautions. Not stopping there, he decided to hire more security guards to patrol around the villa 24/7. If any strangers were spotted approaching, they’d be sent directly to the Police Station.
Seeing Lu Yucheng meticulously arranging everything, Little Bun nestled in Mo Qinghuan’s arms, noticed her pale face, and worriedly touched her cheek, asking, “Sister, are you feeling unwell? Why does your face look like mine when I’m sick?”
“I’m fine, Little Bun.” Mo Qinghuan wasn’t going to be defeated by this minor setback; she just felt a bit shaken and hadn’t had a chance to rest properly due to the rumors over the past few days.
The little guy nodded, half-believing. Lu Yucheng stepped forward, picked him up, and reminded, “Little Bun, do you remember promising me that you’d protect your sister well?”
“Of course I remember. Brother said that now I’m grown up, a real man, I should protect my sister,” the little guy nodded vigorously.
Hearing Little Bun’s response, Lu Yucheng seemed quite satisfied and continued, “Then tell me, if someone tries to hurt your sister, what will Little Bun do?”
“I’ll chase the bad guys away and won’t let them bully sister,” the little guy clenched his fists, looking adorably determined.
Though Lu Yucheng was just trying to amuse Little Bun, he had been arranging Mo Qinghuan’s future life since returning home, which touched her deeply but also seemed a bit excessive.
So she looked at Lu Yucheng, frowning slightly, and reminded, “Yucheng, I know you mean well, but I don’t think that person would dare to break into the Lu family and harm me, right? You’re too tense.”
“I, Lu Yucheng, plan to have only one wife in this lifetime. If I don’t worry about you, who should I worry about? Do you know how scared I am of you getting hurt?” Lu Yucheng sighed. If Mo Qinghuan were fine, he wouldn’t be making such a fuss, but since the enemy had started attacking, targeting Mo Qinghuan, he wouldn’t tolerate it.
With Little Bun in one arm and holding Mo Qinghuan’s hand with the other, it was a scene of harmony and happiness, yet both felt a bit apprehensive. Mo Qinghuan suddenly remembered the unfinished conversation at the talent agency and asked:
“By the way, Yucheng, you haven’t told me yet. Since you didn’t stay home because you believed the rumors about me, where did you go?”
Seeing Mo Qinghuan’s persistent questioning, Lu Yucheng decided not to hide it any longer. After all, they were family now, and it would be better for Mo Qinghuan to show her face to Mother Lu. So he told her about Mother Lu’s heart attack.
As expected, upon hearing this, Mo Qinghuan immediately began to scold Lu Yucheng, saying, “Yucheng, why are you only telling me about such a big issue now? How is mother-in-law’s health? Has she passed the critical stage? Why did she suddenly have a heart attack?”
When she visited the Lu family that day, Mother Lu looked rosy and showed no signs of heart disease. Mo Qinghuan knew that heart patients don’t usually have attacks without specific triggers. Her intuition told her Lu Yucheng was hiding something, so she continued to probe.
“Actually, I argued with Father, and Mom got upset, which led to this,” Lu Yucheng confessed, feeling deeply regretful. If he hadn’t argued with Father Lu, Mother Lu wouldn’t have been caught in the middle and fainted.
