The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 262 - Fainting from the Blow
“Thank you all for your concern. My relationship with my husband is still very strong, and divorce is not something we’re considering. However, the rumors that have been spreading online since last night have left me exhausted.”
As she spoke, Mo Qinghuan’s delicate face showed a hint of fatigue, with tears glistening in her eyes. She had shed her usual aloof, unapproachable demeanor, making people feel a pang of sympathy for her.
It was about time for Huo-Jie to step in. Like many agents, she rushed forward to protect the fragile Mo Qinghuan, addressing the reporters, “Actually, Qinghuan hasn’t been feeling well these days. That’s why she didn’t come forward immediately when the rumors started. But now, she’s here, pushing through her weakness to prove her innocence.”
“Is that true, Miss Mo? Is your relationship with Liang Yi merely a rumor?”
“Miss Mo, you’re clarifying things now-does Mr. Lu know about this? Was this decision made after discussing it with him?”
“I say it’s a rumor, do you believe me?” Mo Qinghuan gave a bitter smile. Despite everything, she maintained her image in front of the cameras, weakly saying, “Liang Yi is just a younger friend to me. I never thought someone would link us together, and it truly saddens me.”
With that, her legs gave way, and she fainted right in front of the reporters. Huo-Jie, in a frenzy, instructed the security, “Call an ambulance now! Qinghuan can’t be harmed, absolutely not.”
The scene descended into chaos, and the reporters’ doubts were dispelled by Huo-Jie’s frantic shouting. They continued to capture Mo Qinghuan’s collapse while whispering among themselves:
“It seems true. Mo Qinghuan really isn’t well, and combined with the online harassment, she fainted from exhaustion.”
“Even if Mo Qinghuan is a skilled actress, Huo-Jie has never been trained in this. Her panic is undoubtedly real.”
Huo-Jie, while quietly sobbing, listened to the reporters’ discussions and almost wanted to give Mo Qinghuan a thumbs up. Her guess was spot on; by deliberately appearing before the media and staging a fainting scene, the reporters’ focus shifted from just the rumors to her collapse as well.
In the ambulance, Mo Qinghuan kept her eyes closed, with Huo-Jie and Xiaoxue accompanying her on either side. Once they were out of the reporters’ sight, Huo-Jie breathed a sigh of relief and leaned over to the still feigning unconscious Mo Qinghuan, saying, “It’s okay now, Qinghuan. Your performance was so convincing that if we hadn’t rehearsed beforehand, even I might have believed you really fainted from exhaustion.”
Opening her eyes, Mo Qinghuan’s face no longer showed any sign of weakness. She smiled and looked at Xiaoxue, instructing, “Once we reach the hospital, pretend to be me and stay in the ward. I need to return to the Lu family to recuperate and find out who’s behind all this.”
“Got it, Qinghuan-Jie. Huo-Jie already told me about your plan. I may not be very capable, but if pretending to be you can help with your plan, I’m willing to do it,” Xiaoxue nodded in agreement, eager to lend a hand as an assistant.
As the ambulance approached the hospital entrance, Huo-Jie whispered urgently, “Qinghuan, close your eyes. I see quite a few reporters waiting for you. You’ll have to pretend to be unconscious for a bit longer.”
“I understand, Huo-Jie. You and Xiaoxue shouldn’t be too nervous. Just follow the plan we rehearsed,” Mo Qinghuan replied, closing her eyes once more. As soon as the ambulance doors opened, the reporters were greeted by the sound of Huo-Jie and Xiaoxue’s sobs.
Mo Qinghuan, feigning unconsciousness, felt a bit helpless. She was merely fainting, not dead, yet Huo-Jie and Xiaoxue’s acting seemed overly dramatic. Still, perhaps this would dispel any lingering doubts the reporters might have.
As soon as she was wheeled out of the ambulance, the reporters swarmed around the hospital bed and Huo-Jie, snapping photos of the unconscious Mo Qinghuan. Seeing this, Huo-Jie shouted angrily, “Is there no justice left? Qinghuan has fainted from the shock, and you’re still taking pictures? Do you have any heart at all?”
Perhaps startled by Huo-Jie’s outburst, or perhaps realizing their actions were indeed inappropriate, the reporters, moved by pity, cleared a path for Mo Qinghuan’s bed, allowing Xiaoxue to push her smoothly into the hospital. Huo-Jie deliberately stayed behind, needing to distract the reporters so that Mo Qinghuan, after changing clothes, could be picked up by the waiting driver at the back entrance. Only then would her mission be complete.
She began pouring out her grievances to the media, saying, “From the day Qinghuan debuted, everyone has watched her rise step by step. Don’t you all know what kind of person she is? Who spread these rumors? Deliberately slandering her. Qinghuan isn’t made of iron; who can endure such injustice and remain silent?”
Seeing Huo-Jie in tears, many reporters were touched and no longer pursued their questions as aggressively as before, instead asking sympathetically:
“Huo-Jie, we’ve known each other for a long time. Just tell us the truth, is there any credibility to the rumors between Miss Mo and Liang Yi?”
“Exactly. The internet is in chaos because of these rumors, and more people are questioning their relationship. It’s not that we don’t sympathize with you, but it’s our duty, Huo-Jie, please don’t blame us.”
“We’re all just trying to make a living; I understand the need for mutual understanding,” Huo-Jie said, seeing the reporters begin to relent. She continued to lament:
“All along, Qinghuan and Liang Yi’s relationship has been that of mentor and friend. Everyone knows Liang Yi was able to sign with our company because of Qinghuan’s recommendation. Liang Yi has openly expressed gratitude for Qinghuan’s guidance on several shows. How could there be anything improper between them? You reporters, creating gossip is one thing, but can’t you think for yourselves?”
Meanwhile, in the ward, Xiaoxue put on a hospital gown, while Mo Qinghuan changed into Xiaoxue’s clothes, donned sunglasses, and discreetly left the hospital. At the back entrance, the driver was indeed waiting as agreed.
As soon as she got into the car, the driver carefully chose a route with few people and asked, “Qinghuan-Jie, where should we go now?”
“Let’s head back to the Lu family. I’m exhausted and need to rest.” She had heard from the maid that Lu Yucheng would return immediately after his meeting. She was eager to see him, hoping he wouldn’t believe the rumors like everyone else.
As the car passed by the reporters surrounding Huo-Jie, the driver couldn’t help but joke, “If Huo-Jie hadn’t chosen to be an agent, she might have made a decent actress.”
Mo Qinghuan wasn’t in the mood for jokes. She pulled down the curtain, not wanting anyone to discover the switch she and Xiaoxue had pulled off.
Listening to Huo-Jie’s complaints, the reporters, growing bored, suddenly questioned, “Miss Mo has been in the hospital for quite a while now, Huo-Jie, aren’t you worried?”
