The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 246 - Fists
“If you think she’s great, then you can be the one to care for her. Don’t drag me into it,” Father Lu glared at Mother Lu, making the atmosphere awkward.
Since the whole situation started because of Mo Qinghuan, she couldn’t bear to see Mother Lu being scolded because of her. She quickly said, “It’s my fault. Thank you, Mother, for standing up for me.”
Ring, ring, ring.
The phone rang urgently. Father Lu’s demeanor changed from cold to surprisingly joyful when he heard the voice on the other end.
“Lu Xuan? It’s been years since you contacted me. Do you have enough money? Give me your account number…”
It was Lu Xuan calling. No wonder Father Lu was so happy. Knowing she wasn’t welcome, Mo Qinghuan sensibly got up to leave but ran into Lu Xuan at the door.
“Big Brother,” she greeted politely and was about to leave when Lu Xuan called her back. He smiled warmly and asked, “I’ve been too busy with the company to visit you in the hospital. How are you? Why aren’t you resting after being discharged?”
“Thank you for your concern, Big Brother. I’m fine now. Are you here to visit Father and Mother? Father was so happy just to get your call. He’ll be overjoyed to see you.”
Lu Xuan noticed Mo Qinghuan didn’t look well and frowned. “I haven’t been back since I left home in anger as a teenager. Now that I’ve decided to move the company back here, I want to take the opportunity to show my respect to the elders.”
They exchanged a few more words. Unlike Mo Qinghuan’s coldness, Lu Xuan was enthusiastic, making the conversation light but somewhat strange.
A car pulled up nearby. Huo-Jie had told Lu Yucheng that Mo Qinghuan had slipped away, and he immediately guessed she had gone to the Lu family. He drove over and was furious to see Lu Xuan and Mo Qinghuan talking and laughing at the door.
Remembering what Lu Xuan had said to him at the hospital, Lu Yucheng had a bad feeling. He got out of the car and, without a word, punched Lu Xuan in the face. Lu Xuan fell to the ground, blood trickling from his mouth. Mo Qinghuan covered her mouth in shock as the brothers fought.
Lu Xuan wasn’t one to back down. He slapped Lu Yucheng, and they wrestled on the ground, punching and kicking each other. Mo Qinghuan tried to stop them, “Yucheng, Big Brother, stop fighting! What will people think if they see this? Stop it!”
“Stay out of this, Qinghuan,” Lu Yucheng had no intention of stopping. He had held back once at the hospital but was determined to teach Lu Xuan a lesson now.
Despite the fight, Lu Xuan remained gentle towards Mo Qinghuan. He took a punch from Lu Yucheng but looked at her calmly, “Yes, sister-in-law, you’re still weak from the hospital. Please step back.”
Lu Xuan’s concern for Mo Qinghuan fueled Lu Yucheng’s jealousy. He punched Lu Xuan in the stomach and warned, “That’s my wife. It’s not your place to care for her. You may fool others, but not me. Drop the act, Lu Xuan. It’s disgusting.”
The commotion soon caught Father Lu and Mother Lu’s attention. Father Lu, leaning on his cane, rushed out and was furious at the sight. He banged his cane on the ground and yelled, “Stop it! Do you think I’m too old to handle this? How dare you fight in front of me? Are you still children?”
With Father Lu’s command, Lu Xuan and Lu Yucheng had to stop. Mo Qinghuan helped Lu Yucheng up, while Mother Lu ran to Lu Xuan, though she still worriedly glanced at her son. Seeing the injuries on his handsome face, how could she not be concerned?
“Family matters shouldn’t be aired in public. Both of you, get inside!” Father Lu was sure Lu Yucheng had started the fight, feeling guilty about Lu Xuan.
Inside, Lu Xuan’s injuries were more severe. After some first aid, he apologized to Mother Lu, “Auntie, I’m sorry for worrying you and Father. We’re both grown men, yet we fought over something trivial. It’s my fault as the elder brother. If you’re angry, scold me.”
“What can I say?” Mother Lu sighed. The one who admits fault first always gains favor, and Lu Xuan was that kind of person.
Mother Lu, though concerned, could only helplessly tend to Lu Yucheng’s injuries under Father Lu’s stern gaze.
Father Lu, however, was not as forgiving. He glared at Lu Yucheng and ordered, “Why are you just standing there? Apologize to your brother!”
“Apologize? You don’t even know what happened between us. Why should I apologize?” Lu Yucheng sneered. He had expected Father Lu to side with Lu Xuan but not so blatantly. Apologize to Lu Xuan? Never.
Sensing Lu Yucheng’s defiance, Mother Lu tugged at his sleeve, reminding him to watch his tone.
Mo Qinghuan, defending Lu Yucheng, disagreed with Father Lu’s demand for an apology without understanding the situation. “Uncle Lu, I think Yucheng deserves a chance to explain. Please…”
“Our family’s matters are none of your business!” Father Lu cut her off, sneering. “Since you married into the family, Yucheng has been like a lost soul, daring to defy me and fight his brother. Mo Qinghuan, you’re a jinx!”
Father Lu vented his anger on Mo Qinghuan, throwing harsh words at her. Lu Xuan and Mother Lu tried to intervene, but it was too late. Lu Yucheng, protective of his wife, couldn’t take it anymore.
He held Mo Qinghuan’s hand and retorted, “You have no right to speak to Qinghuan like that. She married into this family to be cherished, not to be your scapegoat. I did nothing wrong today, so I won’t apologize. If you care so much about your eldest son, ask him what he said to provoke me. I wanted to punch him then, and I still do now!”
