The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 226 - Be My Wife
The film crew seemed to be in on Lu Yucheng’s proposal plan. Their faces showed no surprise, only blessings and heartfelt emotions.
“Congratulations, Qinghuan-Jie! May you and Mr. Lu be happy forever.”
“Hope you have lots of kids, Qinghuan-Jie. Marry such a great guy!”
“Exactly, Qinghuan-Jie is so lucky. When will I meet a perfect boyfriend like Mr. Lu?”
During the filming, Lu Yucheng frequently visited the set, showering everyone with gifts, making him seem like a romantic lead straight out of a drama. So, the crew’s voices were filled with blessings and envy.
Yet, these voices couldn’t penetrate Mo Qinghuan’s world. Her face was devoid of any smile. Huo-Jie seemed to notice this and quickly approached her, whispering, “Qinghuan, what’s wrong? Are you so happy you don’t know how to express it? Everyone’s watching, at least smile!”
“Huo-Jie, did you know about Yucheng’s proposal beforehand?” Mo Qinghuan asked coldly, her gaze demanding honesty.
“Yes, I did receive a call from Mr. Lu last night. He said he wanted to surprise you romantically today and hoped we’d cooperate,” Huo-Jie admitted, intimidated by Mo Qinghuan’s icy stare. “But Qinghuan, you and Mr. Lu love each other so much. Marriage is inevitable. Aren’t you moved by such an enviable fiancé?”
Huo-Jie felt Mo Qinghuan’s indifferent response was a pity. If a handsome and wealthy man like Lu Yucheng proposed to her, she would accept without hesitation.
Mo Qinghuan frowned and sighed, “Huo-Jie, you’ve been with me the longest. You know what I’ve been through. Do you think I’m in a hurry to seek another marriage?”
“Forget about that jerk Han Shangyan. Mr. Lu stayed up all night planning this proposal. For the sake of his deep love, just say yes.”
Huo-Jie, being an agent, always considered appearances first. Lu Yucheng was the Chairman of the Lu family. With so many eyes on him, if Mo Qinghuan refused, it would be embarrassing for him.
Mo Qinghuan didn’t want to disappoint Lu Yucheng but also wanted to follow her heart. As she hesitated, Lu Yucheng put down the microphone and approached her with a loving gaze, showing no impatience. He spoke tenderly to the woman who deliberately avoided his eyes:
“The woman I love is strong on the outside but kind and beautiful inside. She faces adversity with courage and treats a child with no blood relation as her own. She can’t cook but is a gourmet. She doesn’t know how to be coy but is the woman who captured my heart. Qinghuan, I truly love you. Will you give me the chance to take care of you forever?”
Such heartfelt words could move even the most hardened heart. Mo Qinghuan finally looked up, meeting his gaze, though uncertainty lingered in her eyes.
She frowned and said, “Yucheng, I don’t think I’m ready to embrace marriage again. Can you give me some time to think?”
“No matter how long you take, you’re the only wife for me, Lu Yucheng.” His possessive tone was childlike. Suddenly, he knelt on one knee before her, presenting a ring with a pale blue diamond, different from the usual flawless white ones. He smiled and continued:
“You don’t have to answer right away. Take all the time you need. I just don’t want to miss you, the one who proved herself through actions despite misunderstandings in Showbiz. I know you became an actress not for awards or money but to do what you love. You love fiercely, but sometimes you need a haven, right? I want to be your solid support.”
Though Lu Yucheng desperately wanted to marry Mo Qinghuan, he respected her wishes. His persistence and understanding touched her, erasing her last bit of hesitation.
Her smile blossomed beautifully as she extended her right hand, tears streaming down her face, “I accept.”
“Really, Qinghuan?” Lu Yucheng seemed incredulous. Instead of immediately putting the ring on her finger, he asked, “But you just said you needed time. Are you truly willing to marry me?”
His disbelief, as if in a dream, amused Mo Qinghuan. She waved her hand, pretending impatience, teasingly saying:
“Opportunities are rare. Fine, I take it back.”
“No!” Lu Yucheng grabbed her hand, kissed it passionately, and declared, “You’re mine. No one can take you away.”
As the blue diamond ring slipped onto Mo Qinghuan’s finger, Lu Yucheng’s eyes seemed to redden. They embraced sweetly, creating a fairy-tale-like scene that everyone envied.
The crowd whispered about Mo Qinghuan’s luck in finding such a good man. But when they felt a pair of eyes glaring at them, they quickly dispersed…
The owner of those eyes was Shen Meng, consumed by jealousy. Why was Lu Yucheng’s proposal so grand, with an expensive ring, while Li Pengyuan’s was rushed and ringless, merely in a hotel? Though she was happy then, seeing Lu Yucheng’s elaborate setup made Li Pengyuan’s proposal seem crude and insincere.
“Hmph, I wonder what kind of luck Mo Qinghuan had to meet Lu Yucheng,” she muttered, stomping away in her high heels.
She pretended to disdain the proposal scene, but it was merely to hide her embarrassment. Her agent understood her thoughts, knowing Shen Meng and Mo Qinghuan were rivals. Yet, she still envied the proposal, reluctantly following Shen Meng away, glancing back several times.
Accidentally bumping into Shen Meng, the agent felt a bad omen. Sure enough, Shen Meng exploded, “Are you blind?”
Already fueled by jealousy, Shen Meng’s anger was ready to erupt. The agent’s untimely intrusion only added fuel to the fire, leading to her outburst.
