The President Made Me Trend - Chapter 224 - The Final Scene
“Alright, alright, as long as you’re not angry, whatever you say goes, okay?” Lu Yucheng continued to apologize in the most indulgent tone. Seeing his sincerity and knowing that everything he did was for her, Mo Qinghuan couldn’t bear to stay mad any longer.
The subsequent film scenes were shot quite smoothly. The entire film crew was puzzled as to what had happened to Shen Meng, who suddenly stopped her usual rivalry with Mo Qinghuan. Even Huo-Jie found it baffling and took the opportunity to ask Mo Qinghuan quietly while Shen Meng was filming:
“Qinghuan, has Shen Meng lost her mind? Not only has her acting improved significantly, but the director’s calls for retakes have decreased day by day. It’s really strange.”
“Maybe she just wants the movie to wrap up quickly,” Mo Qinghuan replied, taking a sip of water handed to her by Xiaoxue, her eyes fixed on Shen Meng. She didn’t mention Lu Yucheng’s use of Li Pengyuan to threaten Shen Meng.
Soon, the film progressed to its final segment. According to the script, due to Wu shui’s betrayal, the villain discovered that the protagonist, Rong Yi, was developing time travel technology. Qingxi, in an attempt to protect Rong Yi, was severely injured and on the brink of death, ultimately escorting Rong Yi back to his own time in the laboratory.
On camera, the once pristine lab was in shambles. Qingxi lay in Rong Yi’s arms, blood trickling from his mouth. Rong Yi caressed his lover’s face, tears welling up in her eyes. “Qingxi, didn’t we promise to leave together? Don’t leave me. I can’t live without you.”
“Rong Yi, the time I’ve spent with you has been the happiest of my life. Thank you for bringing me so much joy. I love you,” Qingxi’s face grew paler, his gaze becoming unfocused.
Rong Yi held him helplessly, realizing that nothing in the world could be more devastating than losing a loved one.
As she clung to Qingxi’s lifeless body, Wu shui burst in with a group of henchmen. Having been rejected by Qingxi, Wu shui was no longer the timid girl she once was but had become a full-fledged villain. She vowed never to let Rong Yi and Qingxi find happiness, even if it meant killing them.
Seeing Qingxi’s body, Wu shui’s heart tightened-a moment Shen Meng captured perfectly. But she quickly reverted to her cold, ruthless demeanor, sneering at the devastated Rong Yi. “My dear sister, if you had known it would come to this, why did you oppose me? If you hadn’t, perhaps I would have spared you for the sake of our blood ties.”
“Wu shui, Qingxi is dead. Is this the outcome you wanted?” Rong Yi, with tears streaming down her face, met Wu shui’s sharp gaze. Her superb acting moved everyone on set, who watched the scene of sibling betrayal with bated breath.
In response to Rong Yi’s question, Wu shui curled her lips coldly, her heavy makeup adding a savage beauty to her face:
“Rong Yi, stop pretending to be the good guy. I’m sick, terminally ill! If it weren’t for the help of your rival company’s boss, I might already be dead. Were you planning to watch me die alone while you and Qingxi lived happily ever after? Luckily, fate gave me a second chance, and I’m no longer the pitiful creature you bullied. If you want to live, beg me. Maybe I’ll take pity on you.”
It turned out Wu shui betrayed Rong Yi because she discovered she had cancer. All along, Rong Yi had kept this a secret, trying to find a way to cure her sister. Unaware of this, Wu shui was manipulated by the villains, betraying the sister who had always cherished her.
“Scoff, beg you? I won’t do that.” Rong Yi said, pressing a button in the lab that initiated a self-destruct sequence with a thirty-second countdown.
“30…29…28…”
As the countdown began, the once fierce henchmen turned cowardly, and Wu shui looked at Rong Yi in disbelief. “Are you crazy? If the lab explodes now, you’ll die, and your years of research on the time machine will be for nothing. Is this really how you want it to end?”
“Wu shui, did you know? The time machine was developed to take you to a more advanced era to cure your illness. But now, its existence is meaningless.”
With that, Rong Yi boarded the time machine with Qingxi’s body, activating it. As their bodies became translucent, Wu shui realized they hadn’t vanished but had traveled to another time. Yet, Rong Yi’s words lingered, leaving her unable to let go.
Her henchmen scattered, fleeing for their lives, but as the self-destruct countdown reached “3…2…” Wu shui refused to leave.
She perished in the explosion, her body lost to the flames, all because of Rong Yi’s parting words. It turned out she had always cared for her, and everything she did was for her sister. Tragically, blinded by hatred and jealousy, Wu shui only realized the truth at the moment of her death.
With the final scene wrapped, the director and crew rose to applaud Mo Qinghuan, Gu Bei, and Shen Meng for their outstanding performances. Some were even moved to tears.
“Excellent work. This film owes its life to Miss Qinghuan, Mr. Gu Bei,” the director paused, glancing at Shen Meng. Though the praise seemed a bit much for her, the director wanted to save face for her in front of everyone, so he continued, “and Miss Shen. Thanks to your contributions, the characters in the script came to life. Tomorrow is the wrap-up party, so everyone, get ready.”
After some pleasantries, Huo-Jie draped a coat over Mo Qinghuan. “I heard the wrap-up party will be on the lawn. Haha, I wonder if the director is just being lazy or if he’s out of ideas?”
“After such a grueling shoot, I’m not in the mood for more socializing. The lawn might be a nice change,” Mo Qinghuan sighed deeply. With the film finally completed, she planned to take a few days off to spend quality time with Lu Yucheng and Little Bun, whom she had neglected during the shoot.
Meanwhile, Shen Meng’s agent was indignant about the director’s apparent favoritism. “Hmph, that director has no taste. Your performance was clearly the best, Shen Meng-Jie, yet he mentioned you last. It’s infuriating.”
“He was talking about me, not you. If I’m not upset, why are you?” Shen Meng’s response left her agent wide-eyed. She looked at her, puzzled, and asked:
“Shen Meng-Jie, are you feeling alright? Why do I feel like you’ve been acting strange lately?”
The Shen Meng she knew was selfish and petty, always nitpicking. Her sudden magnanimity was something the agent couldn’t quite adjust to.
