Summary
Imagine the cold and aloof President of the Xu Group being utterly captivated by this adorkable young woman. He’s bound to be tormented to death by her antics sooner or later.
Prologue
In a remote little town – quiet because of its isolation, and simple because of its size – the air was filled with a strong sense of community. The small town, having just celebrated the Spring Festival, was still bustling with festivities. Children in pairs or small groups ran around the marketplace in their new clothes, setting off fireworks. A tangible joy still lingered in the atmosphere. But suddenly-
“Dad, the new year has passed, and now I’m eighteen. I want to go out and find a job,” a spirited young girl said while nervously twisting her hands, speaking to an elder.
The girl had long, jet-black hair that gleamed brilliantly and large, expressive eyes that sparkled with intelligence. With her delicate oval face and strikingly high-bridged nose, she looked as if she’d stepped right out of a fairy tale.
“No,” the elder firmly declined without hesitation, turning and walking away.
The girl stood in place, watching his retreating figure with a slightly disappointed expression, though it seemed as if she had already expected this to happen.
“I must go,” the girl resolved aloud to herself.
Dad,
By the time you read this letter, your daughter will have already left our hometown. Please forgive me for being unfilial and not obeying your words. But I truly miss them. Every time I try to bring up the past, you refuse to tell me anything. From the beginning until now, I’ve been trying to understand why. Since you don’t want me to know, I have no choice but to find the answers myself.
I once overheard your conversation with Grandma, and I know where they are. Don’t worry, give me two years. Once those two years are up, I’ll return home. Please take care of yourself and don’t worry about me.
Your disobedient daughter.
