The Changing Phases - Chapter 18 - Understanding Me Is Enough
In the evening, Zhao Junyang’s figure lingered in her mind, causing insomnia. The next morning, Liu Yuxin headed to work with tired eyes. When she got downstairs, there was no Tao holding roses, nor was Zhao Junyang waiting to take the bus with her. On the crowded bus, Liu Yuxin felt very disappointed. It was either both of them came together, or neither of them showed up. She was upset that Zhao Junyang didn’t come to pick her up as usual, especially when she wanted to see him.
Upon arriving at the company, she learned that there was intense competition in the summer cosmetics market lately. Several brand companies were gearing up to launch new products, and marketing ads were the most crucial part of promoting these products. Zhao Junyang had gone to attend a meeting at the advertising company early in the morning to see who could shoot the ads for Lanyu. No wonder he didn’t come to pick her up today. Liu Yuxin started blaming herself, thinking it was just one missed day and she was being too sensitive. Zhao Junyang treated her so well, why couldn’t she have more faith in him? Zhao Junyang had also been very busy with work recently. Had he stayed up late working on a plan last night? He probably didn’t have breakfast either.
During lunch, Liu Yuxin noticed her colleagues were nowhere to be seen. She wandered around the company, hoping to catch a glimpse of Zhao Junyang. Suddenly, the elevator stopped, and Zhao Junyang walked out with a tall man. Liu Yuxin quickly hid behind a wall, watching them enter Zhao Junyang’s office. After about forty minutes, their conversation ended, and Zhao Junyang escorted the man out. Liu Yuxin thought the man looked familiar and suddenly remembered he resembled Zheng Xu from Mingxing Advertising Company. She had seen him during a previous SU project and he had even given he also gave himself a business card.
Zheng Xu walked into the elevator, and Zhao Junyang politely smiled and waved goodbye. After the elevator doors closed, Zhao Junyang headed back to his office.
Liu Yuxin quietly followed him, making sure no one was around. She cleared her throat a few times, and Zhao Junyang turned around to see her, smiling. “What’s up? Need something?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m here to find a bad guy,” Liu Yuxin responded.
Zhao Junyang chuckled, “The bad guy is very happy to see you…” With that, he pulled Liu Yuxin quickly into his office.
“What are you doing?! What if someone sees us?” Liu Yuxin leaned against the door, patting her chest, her heartbeat loud in her ears. Sometimes Zhao Junyang could be quite impulsive, but Liu Yuxin liked that about him.
Zhao Junyang raised his hand to wipe the fine sweat off her forehead and chuckled softly. “Did you miss me?”
Liu Yuxin’s face turned red instantly, her heart beating even faster. She muttered softly, “I heard you helped Xie Ning get a job.”
With one hand against the door, Zhao Junyang looked down at Liu Yuxin and slowly leaned closer, exuding an aura of mature male allure that made Liu Yuxin shiver involuntarily. “So, now you realize you wrongly accused me? Do you want to hide under the desk?”
Flustered, Liu Yuxin nodded slightly, a blush spreading across her cheeks.
“Come with me,” Zhao Junyang said, grabbing her hand and leading her to hide under his desk. The space was cramped, forcing them to be very close. She could feel his warm breath and see his captivating smile, making her heart race erratically. Liu Yuxin stared at Zhao Junyang for a long time before mumbling, “Is this what a boss should be doing?”
Zhao Junyang grinned, gently cupping her face with his hand. “Mr. Zhao should indeed be a bit more serious and authoritative. But don’t you find this place feels safe?”
Liu Yuxin rolled her eyes and slapped his hand away from her chin. “You’re like a pervert. There’s no sense of safety here at all. I regret this!” She playfully punched his shoulder and laughed. “You must have hidden under tables whenever you got scolded as a kid.”
Zhao Junyang laughed. “There was no time to hide when I was getting hit. But in elementary school, I once took my family’s mahjong dice and played under the table with a girl classmate. The teacher found us and sent me to a dark room in the next classroom to reflect on my behavior.”
Liu Yuxin burst out laughing. “Your teacher was right. You deserved that punishment.”
Zhao Junyang pretended to be aggrieved. “Liu Yuxin, you’re so heartless.”
Liu Yuxin blinked innocently. “Zhao Junyang, are you mistaking me for your first love?”
Zhao Junyang’s smile widened, and he said seriously, “No, she wasn’t as beautiful as you. You’re different.” Liu Yuxin playfully reached up to pinch his arm, and he took the opportunity to grab her hand, gazing deeply into her eyes. “Liu Yuxin, don’t you think our progress is a bit slow?”
Liu Yuxin turned her head away. “What progress? There’s no room for progress between us. I don’t know much about men like you. I still want to meet more people.”
Zhao Junyang suddenly leaned closer, making the already cramped space even tighter. His slender, fair hand gently lifted Liu Yuxin’s chin. His voice was rich and magnetic. “Why would you need to know other men when you have me?”
Zhao Junyang presence and the proximity made Liu Yuxin blush uncontrollably. She was nervous but also felt a strange excitement. This conflicting feeling left her at a loss. Zhao Junyang’s face drew nearer, exuding an endless allure that deeply captivated Liu Yuxin, making it hard for her to push him away.
“Mr. Zhao!” Secretary Wang Qi’s voice called out from outside. Liu Yuxin snapped back to reality, stopping Zhao Junyang from getting any closer. Reluctantly, Zhao Junyang gave her a light kiss on the cheek and whispered, “Don’t say anything.” Liu Yuxin nodded, muttering softly, “This feels like we’re having an affair.”
Wang Qi quickly pushed open the office door and scanned the room, finding it empty. She murmured to herself, “That’s strange. Where did Mr. Zhao go? I can’t find him anywhere.”
After Wang Qi left, Zhao Junyang’s phone started ringing. He pulled it out, feeling an impulse to throw it away. Liu Yuxin’s heart pounded in her chest. If they were discovered, it would be so embarrassing.
Just as they thought Wang Qi might come back in, they heard her voice outside the door, “Oh! Mr. Zhao even left his phone in the office. Where should I go to find him now?”
Liu Yuxin covered her mouth with her hand, her body shaking with laughter as Zhao Junyang wrapped his arm around her. She leaned on his shoulder, laughing and saying, “Zhao Junyang, my stomach hurts from laughing so much.”
Zhao Junyang grinned mischievously. “I’ll cure you in no time…”
Before he finished speaking, his lips were on hers. Liu Yuxin’s brain short-circuited, unable to process what was happening for a moment.
Their lips pressed tightly together, and he tenderly pried her lips open, savoring the sweet taste inside her mouth. They were entangled, and their breaths and rapid heartbeat drowned out all other sounds. For a fleeting moment, the world seemed to spin, leaving just the two of them, heart to heart, the sweetness spreading and engulfing them both in the slanting sunlight.
Suddenly, he deepened the kiss, holding her so tightly as if trying to merge with her. His urgent kisses on her lips, biting and sucking, were intense and greedy, drawing her into an abyss of pleasure where she forgot everything. She couldn’t help but respond, willingly letting him take her breath away and drive her to madness.
The warm sunlight streamed in, bathing them in warmth. Their love was like opium, intoxicating and addictive. Her heart no longer evaded, and together under the desk, they seemed to become a silhouette of happiness.
Just when they were on the verge of running out of breath, Zhao Junyang’s lips finally left Liu Yuxin’s. With a smile in his eyes, Zhao Junyang gazed at her. “Are you stunned?”
Liu Yuxin’s face was burning hot, and she shook her head dumbly. “I don’t know, I’m just a bit confused. Are we really together?”
Zhao Junyang gently pinched her cheek, smiling. “Liu Yuxin, how about becoming my girlfriend?”
Liu Yuxin asked softly, “Are you serious?” Zhao Junyang nodded with a smile. Liu Yuxin bit her lower lip. “But I always feel there’s a great distance between us…”
Zhao Junyang gently stroked her hair, smiling faintly. “It seems you’re still a bit confused. Should I cure you again?”
Before he finished speaking, he urgently pressed his lips to hers again. Any doubts she had vanished instantly with his kiss. Her heart sank into a mixture of joyful complaints-her mind seemed to remain unfixed, but she worried her lips might soon get swollen from all the “treatment”…
