“And what exactly do you want to play?” Gu Xiaoai stared at him coldly, struggling to lift her right hand. “This? Should I chain myself to your front gate and play watchdog for you?”
What did he take her for? A toy? A pet? Not done playing yet…
How far did this have to go before it was enough for him? Before he would finally let her go?
Her mocking tone ignited his simmering fury once more.
She always knew how to push his buttons, how to provoke him again and again.
Fine. Then she had no one to blame but herself if he left her no way out.
This was the path she had chosen.
“Peter,” Li Juefeng growled, gripping her chin tightly before rising from atop her.
“Yes, Mr. Li.” The doctor, who had been standing silently behind him, stepped forward with the metal box in hand. But before he could get too close, Li Juefeng barked sharply, “Stop.”
“Y-yes…” The slightly balding doctor froze in his tracks, startled.
Li Juefeng’s gaze fell on her torn nightgown, and without hesitation, he shrugged off his own shirt and forcefully dressed her in it.
“Get away…” Gu Xiaoai struggled with a look of utter disgust, but her body was so drained of strength that she could only sit there as he roughly buttoned the shirt over her.
“Sit.” He yanked her up and pressed her down onto the edge of the bed. Only then did he glance back.
The doctor, catching the cue, hurried forward and placed the metal box carefully on the bench at the foot of the bed. Bowing slightly, he reported respectfully, “Mr. Li, I’ve brought everything you requested.”
“Good. Explain it to her.” Li Juefeng’s voice was a cold sneer, his eyes dark and menacing as they locked onto Gu Xiaoai. He was waiting-waiting to see her crumble, to see her beg at his feet.
Explain what?
Gu Xiaoai sat at the edge of the bed, her gaze shifting uneasily to the tightly sealed metal box. What was in there? Some new kind of supplement? Another round of nutrient infusions?
Her eyes flicked to the doctor’s white coat, then back to Li Juefeng. “What I need is freedom, not a doctor.”
That much, she was determined to hold onto.
“Gu Xiaoai! The rules of this game are not for you to decide!” His voice was laced with a chilling, impenetrable coldness.
“Click-”
The doctor had already opened the box.
Gu Xiaoai frowned, her eyes drawn to its contents. Inside, neatly arranged, were five syringes of varying sizes, several vials of liquid-some clear, some a pale blue-and compartments filled with white powder that resembled medication, along with packets of crystalline white substances.
What… was this?
Top-grade nutrient solutions?
Did he think he could just force an injection on her under the guise of a drip?
