Li Juefeng let out a muffled groan of pain, his grip tightening on her arm before he shoved her away with such force that she was thrown harshly to the ground.
“Ugh…”
Gu Xiaoai landed hard, sitting on the floor as she winced, forcing herself to endure the pain. The metallic taste of his blood lingered in her mouth, and with a look of utter disgust, she spat it out.
Filthy.
This man, who left his mark everywhere he went, was nothing but scum. Even the taste of his blood was so overpowering it made her stomach churn.
“Gu Xiaoai! Are you courting death?” Li Juefeng roared, his voice thunderous as his entire being radiated a menacing aura.
“Mr. Li!” Housekeeper Tong gasped in shock, her eyes widening as she noticed the blood trickling down his neck. She turned to the nearby maids, her voice urgent. “What are you waiting for? Go get the first aid kit!”
The maids scurried out of the room, their hurried footsteps echoing down the hallway.
Li Juefeng’s long fingers reached up to touch his neck, and when he pulled them away, they were stained with a vivid smear of red.
Staring at the stark color of his own blood, something inside him snapped. He lost all semblance of control, grabbing Gu Xiaoai off the floor and throwing her onto the bed. Without hesitation, he pinned her down and crushed his lips against hers in a chaotic, frenzied kiss. His hands moved with brute force, yanking at her nightgown.
“Let… mmph… Li Juefeng, you shameless… mmph… let go…”
Gu Xiaoai twisted her face away, desperately trying to evade his relentless kisses. But his lips pursued hers with an almost obsessive determination. One of his hands pinned down her flailing right arm, while the other tore at the fabric of her nightgown, exposing her.
“Smack-”
The cold air against her chest jolted her into action. With every ounce of strength she could muster, she raised her shackled left hand and slapped him hard across the face.
Li Juefeng froze mid-action, his head snapping to the side from the impact. Slowly, his hand moved to her throat, his grip tightening as his eyes burned with an almost feral intensity. “Gu Xiaoai, do you have a death wish?”
His fingers curled around her neck, the pressure increasing as if he truly intended to strangle her.
Her heart pounded violently in her chest.
Her exposed skin, pale and smooth, was laid bare before his gaze, but she didn’t flinch. She didn’t beg. She didn’t plead.
The doctor and Housekeeper Tong stood frozen at the doorway, neither daring to make a sound or leave. They simply stood there, silent witnesses to the scene unfolding before them.
Gu Xiaoai lay beneath him, her throat constricted by his unyielding grip. Her almond-shaped eyes were wide, staring directly into his face with a defiance that burned brighter than any plea for mercy.
She was determined to fight him to the bitter end.
This unyielding side of her-it was the first time he had seen it.
Did she think she could win against him? That she could gamble her life and come out victorious?
It was like a game of high stakes, and Li Juefeng’s fingers tightened further, his gaze darkening with cruel intent.
