“Gu Xiaoai-!” In the next second, Li Juefeng roared, his voice echoing through the room as he rushed forward and scooped her up from the floor.
It was only then that he clearly saw her face, pale and devoid of any color. The only trace of life was the vivid red of her bitten lips, while the bandages that had once covered her knees were long gone, discarded during his earlier indulgence.
Now, faint streaks of blood were beginning to seep out again, spreading little by little.
So fragile… as if she had no breath left in her.
This feeling… it was the first time he truly understood what fear meant.
“Call the doctor!”
Slamming the intercom button, Li Juefeng practically roared the command.
…
Sunlight poured through the large floor-to-ceiling windows as Gu Xiaoai slowly regained consciousness. She found herself, once again, in Li Juefeng’s bedroom.
Lying on the soft, oversized bed, she noticed housekeeper Tong sitting nearby, slicing an apple. As soon as she saw Gu Xiaoai awake, her face lit up with joy. “Miss Gu, you’re awake? Mr. Li had some urgent matters to attend to, but he’ll definitely be back tonight.”
…
She didn’t care where he went, not one bit.
Gu Xiaoai’s eyes dimmed as she turned her gaze away. On the back of her right hand, a soft needle was inserted, delivering an IV drip.
“It’s a nutritional IV. The doctor said Miss Gu’s physical strength isn’t in good condition,” housekeeper Tong said with a kind smile. “Mr. Li is very concerned about your health.”
“…”
Not in good condition?
She was a Paparazzi, constantly running around chasing news stories. How could her physical strength be lacking? It wasn’t her body that was weak-it was Li Juefeng who had drained her of every ounce of energy.
Concerned?
He was probably just worried she’d collapse before he was done having his fun with her.
Her left wrist was still cuffed to the bedpost, her right hand tethered to the IV. One hand imprisoned, the other restricted-was this his idea of concern?
If she remained locked up in the Li Family villa, it wasn’t just her uncle who’d be driven to despair. Her own life would be nothing short of a living hell.
“Miss Gu, would you like an apple?” Seeing her remain silent, housekeeper Tong quickly sliced a piece, skewered it with a toothpick, and held it up to her lips.
The attentive care made it seem as though she were some kind of critically ill patient.
“I don’t want it,” Gu Xiaoai said, turning her head away.
“Miss Gu, are you feeling unwell? The doctor and nurse are just downstairs. Should I call them up to check on you again?” Housekeeper Tong stood up from her chair, visibly anxious.
Call the doctor up again to tell her she lacked physical strength?
Would they only be satisfied once they completely stripped her of her dignity?
Gu Xiaoai frowned tightly, her voice calm but firm. “I need to use the bathroom.”
“Alright, alright…” Seeing that she was otherwise fine, housekeeper Tong, a middle-aged woman, let out a sigh of relief. She quickly pulled out a key, unlocking the handcuffs from the bedpost, and then carefully removed the IV needle from her hand.
