The Arrogant President's Cute Assistant - Chapter 148 - Marry Me
“What do you want to do then? I’ll do whatever you say.” Ling Xiaonai gently stroked her head, treating her like a precious treasure. If Ye Ranxi looked up now, she would see his incredibly tender gaze, as if it were a pool of water, wanting to pull her in completely, merging their beings so they would never be apart again.
“Um…” Ye Ranxi pondered for a moment before speaking, “I want them all to work at Ling Corporation. Is that okay? They could design clothes for the Design Department at Ling Corporation, what do you think?”
The employees at the studio had been with her for a long time and treated her well; they were the people she absolutely trusted. This way, she would have her own trusted individuals at Ling Corporation, and her plans might proceed more smoothly.
Without the slightest hesitation, Ling Xiaonai agreed, “Alright, if that’s what you want, then let’s do it.”
No matter what she said, he always unconditionally supported her. This left Ye Ranxi a bit puzzled. Was Ling Xiaonai genuinely being good to her, or was this just an act to hurt her once again?
Probably the latter! Ye Ranxi smiled bitterly. Here she was, in the arms of her enemy, and she should feel distressed, yet the faint scent of his shower gel somehow brought her a sense of peace.
Over the years, her sleep had always been light, easily disturbed. Only in his arms could she sleep soundly.
The next morning, Ye Ranxi woke up still feeling a bit groggy. Stretching on the big bed, she got up and tidied her disheveled hair, only to realize that Ling Xiaonai was already gone.
“Where did he go…” Ye Ranxi mumbled, and just then the door opened. Ling Xiaonai walked in, followed by a bunch of foreigners she didn’t recognize.
Today, Ling Xiaonai was wearing a white suit, with a black bow tie on his shirt collar. Standing at over six feet tall with a slender figure and bright, expressive eyes, he was impossible for her to look away from.
He was holding her favorite blue rose and knelt beside her, leaning down to kiss her hand. As the flash went off, the scene was captured in that moment.
Ye Ranxi hadn’t processed what Ling Xiaonai was doing.
“Very good, the photos look great.” A foreign man in his thirties looked particularly pleased as he observed the scene through the camera, expressing his opinion in somewhat awkward Chinese and nodding in satisfaction.
“What’s going on right now?” Ye Ranxi was taken aback. When she woke up, a crowd had suddenly walked toward her, snapped a few photos, and then left, leaving Ling Xiaonai kneeling on one knee beside her. She noticed that a blue diamond ring had somehow appeared on her ring finger.
Ye Ranxi recognized this diamond ring from an auction she had attended. It was designed by a world-renowned jewelry designer who had passed away, and it had sold for an astonishing two hundred million. Later, it was bought by an unknown person, who turned out to be Ling Xiaonai…
“You’ll find out soon enough,” said Ling Xiaonai as he placed the blue rose on the table and kissed her ring-clad ring finger. “Xiaoxi, will you marry me?”
Is he proposing? Ye Ranxi recalled how she had been complaining recently about his lack of romance, and now here he was, proposing to her for real.
Ling Xiaonai had actually planned to propose after everything was perfectly arranged, but she had been looking troubled lately, clearly distressed over the issue with their child. So, he decided to spring the proposal on her. Although it was a bit rushed, seeing her smile made it all worthwhile.
Ye Ranxi felt a bit dazed as she stared at the blue diamond ring on her finger. She knew that if she nodded, there would be no turning back. Hadn’t she always wanted to marry Ling Xiaonai and avenge her parents? Now that moment had finally arrived, why was her heart filled with so much unease?
“Okay, I accept,” Ye Ranxi said joyfully as she leaped into his arms and planted several enthusiastic kisses on his lips.
This was Ye Ranxi’s first time being so proactive… Ling Xiaonai felt his joy nearly explode as he held her tightly and kissed her passionately in return.
The bath towel she had wrapped herself in so tightly last night was nowhere to be found. From Ling Xiaonai’s angle, he couldn’t help but notice her figure. His throat tightened, and he almost lost control, but Ye Ranxi stopped him.
“I haven’t brushed my teeth yet…” Ye Ranxi buried her head in his suit.
Ling Xiaonai smiled gently and kissed her little nose, teasing, “It’s okay; I won’t mind if you haven’t brushed your teeth.”
Ye Ranxi pouted, “You bad guy.” Then she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and began to act cute, “Carry me to brush my teeth.”
Now she realized that asking Ling Xiaonai to carry her to the restroom was a mistake. Standing in front of the mirror brushing her teeth, she felt him pressed closely against her from behind, his big hands constantly moving over her chest.
In front of the mirror, Ye Ranxi’s hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and she was only wearing one of Ling Xiaonai’s shirts. Three buttons were undone, revealing one of her snow-white shoulders. Ling Xiaonai stood behind her in a suit, his hands resting on her front…
What should have been a simple act of brushing her teeth and washing her face turned into a lengthy affair that took over half an hour in the bathroom. By the time Ye Ranxi emerged, cradled in Ling Xiaonai’s arms, her eyes were dreamy with a hint of sparkle.
If it weren’t for the important matters ahead that demanded his attention, he would have very much liked to indulge himself right here with this silly girl.
Ling Xiaonai made a phone call, providing her measurements, and several minutes later, someone brought clothes to the villa.
“Change into these. I’m taking you somewhere,” he instructed, handing her the clothes.
Ye Ranxi felt that Ling Xiaonai was being unusually secretive today. Couldn’t he just tell her what was going on?
Once she changed, Ling Xiaonai drove her to a photography studio. As soon as she got out of the car, she spotted the foreigner she had met earlier that day.
At first, she hadn’t recognized him due to her sleepy state, but now after taking a closer look, she felt that this foreigner resembled the famous photographer she had seen on TV.
“Isn’t this the photographer who won the global photography contest recently?” Ye Ranxi asked Ling Xiaonai, leaning in.
“Yeah, that’s him. He’s my good friend Jason from America. When he heard I was shooting wedding photos, he came over to help me out,” Ling Xiaonai explained.
Wedding photos? She hadn’t known anything about that!
When Jason saw Ye Ranxi, he waved and greeted her enthusiastically in slightly broken Chinese. “Hello, I’m Xiaonai’s good friend, I’m Jason.”
“Hello, I’m Ye Ranxi.”
Jason leaned in closer, following the etiquette for greetings among foreigners. Knowing the drill, Ye Ranxi smiled and leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek. However, Ling Xiaonai looked displeased and pulled Ye Ranxi closer to him, as if to declare his claim to her in front of Jason.
“Come on, Xiaonai, I didn’t expect you to be such a protective husband!” Jason remarked with a chuckle, using a phrase he must have picked up somewhere. At the sound of those four words, Ye Ranxi couldn’t help but giggle.
“By the way, what are we doing here?” Ye Ranxi still felt a bit out of sorts as she asked.
Ling Xiaonai didn’t respond. Instead, he took her hand, brushing Jason aside, and said, “Let’s go inside.”
The photography studio was quite exquisite, boasting a European architectural style. As soon as Ye Ranxi stepped inside, she spotted an enormous photo on the wall. In it, Ling Xiaonai was kneeling before her, holding a blue rose, while she appeared dreamy-eyed, looking like a princess who had just woken up.
“This is our wedding photo. Do you like it?”
Jason, the renowned photographer, certainly lived up to his reputation, as the photo was beautifully taken, with excellent lighting and shadow effects.
However, it was a bit odd that Ling Xiaonai was dressed in a formal suit while she was only wearing a white shirt.
“Why do you get to wear a suit while I can only wear this?” Ye Ranxi complained, pulling at his suit sleeve with a hint of discontent. Although she looked pretty cute, she couldn’t shake off her annoyance.
“You look good in anything,” Ling Xiaonai nuzzled his head against her neck affectionately. “And don’t you see? You look so natural with that expression.”
That did make sense… Even though she appeared a little dazed, her mesmerizing eyes made her even more enchanting. Standing beside her, Ling Xiaonai and the warm sunlight streaming in made her look like a princess just awakening in an ancient castle, her face radiating pure happiness.
“Alright, I’ll let that slide,” Ye Ranxi said with satisfaction as she admired the photo. “I want to hang this picture in our bedroom so I can see it every day. By the way, why did you bring me here?”
“Of course, to take our wedding photos. Didn’t you always want to have a beautiful bridal shoot?” Ling Xiaonai asked with a smile.
Back when they were together before, Ye Ranxi had constantly nagged him to take stunning wedding photos, and now she was surprised that he still remembered.
“Yes, Xiaonai-Ge has even prepared a wedding dress,” a familiar voice interjected from behind. Ye Ranxi turned around and realized it was Wen Nuan.
Before Ye Ranxi could respond, Ling Xiaonai’s gentle demeanor suddenly turned cold, his voice devoid of warmth. “What are you doing here?”
Since the last incident where Wen Nuan had betrayed Ye Ranxi, Ling Xiaonai no longer addressed her affectionately as he used to… Wen Nuan felt a pang in her heart but dared not show it in front of Ye Ranxi. She simply pointed to Li Xiaoai, who was walking up behind her. “I came with a friend. She designed the wedding dresses here.”
Now, with Wen Nuan showing up and Li Xiaoai arriving as well, Ye Ranxi felt her mood drop. The excitement for the bridal shoot started to fade away.
