Teasing the Icy President - Chapter 24 - The Infuriating Man
“Qingtian, how’s Uncle doing?” Nie Shuangshuang’s call came at just the right time. Mu Qingtian, touched by the concern in Shuangshuang’s voice, quickly replied, “Mm-hmm, Dad’s surgery is over. I believe he’ll stabilize soon.”
Her eyes never left her father’s bed, full of reluctance. She then asked Shuangshuang, “What are you doing? Why is it so noisy on your end?”
Shuangshuang, carrying a large bag of food, was heading out of the station with her phone wedged between her neck and shoulder. She shouted, “Idiot, I’m coming over! Which hospital are you at? Tell me quickly!”
Wow, Shuangshuang was rushing over in the middle of the night. The mayor’s daughter was really going through a lot. Qingtian, feeling touched, said, “Shuangshuang, you’re amazing. You’re even coming all this way to see my dad. I’m so moved…”
In her excitement, she forgot to tell Shuangshuang where she was. Shuangshuang, growing impatient, yelled, “Idiot, stop crying and tell me where you are!”
Qingtian quickly replied, “County People’s Hospital. I’ll come get you.” “No need, I’m already in a taxi. I’ll be there soon. Wait for me,” Shuangshuang said, hanging up the phone. She looked at the bag of food with satisfaction, thinking, “Hehe, just wait for me. I’m almost there.”
She then noticed someone else had gotten into the taxi. The man was impeccably dressed in a suit, with a handsome face that made Shuangshuang’s heart flutter. She almost fainted or had a nosebleed. How could it be? How could such a handsome man be in this small place?
Shuangshuang stole glances at him, and the man, noticing her, gave a polite smile. Despite his gentlemanly demeanor, he seemed anxious and tired.
The driver suddenly said, “You both are going to the same hospital?”
“Huh?” Shuangshuang was surprised and asked the man, “Are you going to County People’s Hospital too?” The man, who looked to be around thirty, glanced at her and nodded without speaking, his refined features making Shuangshuang almost swoon.
Unexpectedly, she had met a handsome man in a taxi, and they were going to the same hospital. Shuangshuang was thrilled. She quickly asked, “Are you going to the hospital to visit someone or for treatment?”
“Neither,” the man replied politely, his words few and far between, which Shuangshuang found infuriating.
They didn’t speak again. The car sped along, and the man received a call. Shuangshuang listened in, pretending not to care.
“Mr. President, your child has been found. He’s indeed at the hospital,” the caller said.
“Really? Where exactly?”
“In the Neurology Department, fourth floor.”
“Got it.” The man hung up, his expression relaxing. Shuangshuang found it odd. Wasn’t that where Qingtian was? She quickly sent a message to Qingtian, asking, “Qingtian, is there a child with you?”
Qingtian, anxiously waiting, replied, “Yes, I found a child on the train.”
Shuangshuang clutched her chest, her heart pounding. Could it be this man’s child? She stole another glance at him. The man, noticing, asked, “Miss, do you need something? Why do you keep looking at me?”
“I… nothing. You just look familiar. I wanted to get a good look,” Shuangshuang said softly, with a hint of shyness and reserve. Her mother had always told her not to be rude in front of men, or there would be consequences. She had to learn from Qingtian’s mistakes.
The man nodded and said nothing more. After a while, he asked, “Miss, could you help me with something?” He seemed embarrassed, which was unusual for a mature man.
Shuangshuang, delighted, nodded, “Sure, what do you need? I’ll help however I can.” She was determined not to let this handsome man slip away.
The man nodded and said, “I know this is a bit awkward, but could you help me out?”
His expression remained tense as he said, “Would you be willing to be a housekeeper?”
Even the driver almost burst out laughing, but held back out of politeness. Shuangshuang, however, was stunned. Did she look that desperate? She glared at the man and said, “Are you making fun of me because you think I have nothing better to do?”
Anger surged within her. How dare he? Just because he was handsome and rich, did he think he could treat her like this? She was just a little starstruck, and he had to humiliate her like this? Asking a mayor’s daughter to be his housekeeper? What a joke.
This man was truly infuriating!
Shuangshuang held back her anger and said, “You’re too much!”
“Stop the car! I want to get out!” She tapped the glass in front, and the car stopped. She tossed money to the driver, got out, and walked away, her high heels clicking on the pavement.
The man sat there, dumbfounded. He asked the driver, “Do you think I was making fun of her? Do you think I was too much?”
The driver gave him a look and said, “I don’t know, but you did scare away my passenger. You were too much.”
With that, he continued driving. The man shrugged helplessly. What was with that woman? He had just thought she looked decent and could be a good nanny for his son. Was that so wrong? Maybe he had expressed it poorly.
He thought about it, his eyes drifting to the bag of food left behind. “Well, you forgot your stuff and your wallet. Let’s see how you get to the hospital now,” he thought, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Shuangshuang, realizing she had only her phone, was now in a panic. She had felt so cool walking away from a rich and attractive man, but now she had nothing to pay for another taxi. What a disaster. That infuriating man!
Sweating, she remembered the man was going to the Neurology Department on the fourth floor. “Alright, I’ll wait for him there. I’ll catch him and make him return my things,” she thought.
She called Qingtian, “Hey, Qingtian, you have to catch that bad man for me. He took my bag and all the food I bought for Uncle. I’m so upset.” Shuangshuang cried.
Qingtian, furious, said, “What? Which man? Call the police!” This silly girl wanted her to catch him. How could she manage that? But she comforted her, “Don’t cry. I’ll catch him for you.”
“That man said he’s going to the same floor as you. Keep an eye out for a rich and attractive man. If you see him, give him a good beating. I’ll be there soon.” Shuangshuang stopped crying, determined to catch that jerk. “Wait for me. You’re dead!”
Shuangshuang flagged down a taxi and headed to the hospital, while Qingtian was still in a daze. A rich and attractive man?
Beat him up?
Hmm, he must be a shameless man pretending to be rich and attractive, daring to steal Shuangshuang’s bag. And all that food… Qingtian made up her mind. She’d give him a good beating! No mercy!
She asked her mother to watch over her father and little Junze, then quietly went to the corridor, near the elevator and stairs, looking around anxiously. She waited nervously for the man to appear.
For a moment, her mind went blank. Was it really appropriate to beat someone up? Would it ruin her image? But Shuangshuang had instructed her to punish the bad guy. Maybe she should listen to Shuangshuang. But what if someone saw her? It was risky… She began to worry.
In her anxious waiting, she suddenly remembered the elevator was broken. She should wait by the stairs. Her mind cleared, and she hurried over. Just then, she heard someone coming up. She peeked down and saw a man in a suit, carrying food. It had to be him! A rich and attractive man, or rather, a shameless man pretending to be one. A big liar! Yes, it was him!
Qingtian mustered her courage, thinking, “Come on, you liar. I’m not afraid of you!” She clenched her fists, sweating nervously. As the man approached, she held her breath. “I’ll teach you a lesson for stealing Shuangshuang’s bag. Justice will be served!”
Her mind heated up, and she threw a punch. “Ugh!” The man’s face turned colorful, and the food scattered. Before they could speak, a shout echoed from behind, “President Ye-”
In that moment, Qingtian realized what it meant for the world to end… The man, holding his face, slowly looked up. Qingtian took a few steps back, “It… it wasn’t me…” How could it be him? “Little girl, it’s you?” Lu Zizhong came up to check on Ye Ziqian’s face, one eye already turning purple and blue.
The next moment, a roar echoed through the corridor, “Mu Qingtian-” Ye Ziqian was furious enough to kill her!
“Uncle… I… I…” Qingtian tried to say something.
But before she could, Ye Ziqian cursed, “Get lost-don’t ever let me see you again, you damn pig!” He turned and left, Lu Zizhong following after giving Qingtian a look. She was still in a daze. He shook his head and left.
Qingtian felt like she had fallen into an ice pit. It was over… She had angered Uncle. Now she had no job… No, she couldn’t let this happen. She hurriedly chased after him, “Uncle, Uncle, don’t go!”
But it was too late. She only saw the car driving away. She leaned against the wall, feeling drained. Was the sky falling too…
She was on the verge of tears. How could it be Ye Ziqian? Impossible. If it were him, Shuangshuang would have recognized him. But why was he in such a small town? It was too strange. But that wasn’t the most important thing. The important thing was that her monthly salary of thirty thousand might have just been punched away.
At that moment, a man in a suit, carrying a bag of food, walked past her. He stopped, turned back, and asked, “Miss, can you tell me how to get to the Neurology Department on the fourth floor?” His tone was cold and stiff.
Qingtian looked at him, on the verge of tears. Could this be the man Shuangshuang mentioned? Ah… She had committed an unforgivable sin. At that moment, Qingtian felt like hanging herself…
But she still had some sense left. She said, “I’m going there too. I’ll show you the way.”
