Teasing the Icy President - Chapter 14 - You Saved My Life
Mu Qingtian woke up and opened her eyes to see a large face right in front of hers.
“Ah-” she screamed.
“What’s the matter? I’m not a man! Spill it, what time did you get back last night? Anything interesting?” Nie Shuangshuang teased with a playful smile.
Mu Qingtian was so exhausted she didn’t even want to open her eyes. “Oh my, I need to get ready for work. Sorry, babe, for making you come here to sleep with me and not even chatting with you.”
“I’m used to it, used to you prioritizing romance over friendship. But I think that Mr. Ye is pretty good. Why not recruit him?” Nie Shuangshuang joked.
Mu Qingtian stretched lazily. “Are you okay? Have you lost your mind? He’s a-a pervert, a world-class pervert!”
“Have you experienced it yourself?” Nie Shuangshuang pressed on, determined to get to the bottom of it.
Mu Qingtian was utterly speechless with her best friend. It seemed like in Nie Shuangshuang’s world, there was nothing but men, and everything could somehow be linked to them, especially wild ones.
“When are you going to find a man to marry you off, so you’ll stop talking about men all the time?” Mu Qingtian joked.
“The man who could marry me probably hasn’t even been born yet!” Nie Shuangshuang said with a straight face.
“Not born yet? Are you planning to find a man over twenty years younger than you? Your son, maybe?” Mu Qingtian exaggeratedly opened her mouth wide.
“Hey, if he’s my son, then he’s my biological son!”
“Without finding him a father, how are you going to have him? Are you a hermaphrodite?” Mu Qingtian asked.
“Ha, I’ll just borrow some sperm from your guy,” Nie Shuangshuang said nonchalantly.
Mu Qingtian instantly sat up from the bed. “Nie Shuangshuang, let me tell you, stop calling him ‘your guy.’ He’s my capitalist, the exploiting class. I’m the working class, the exploited!” Mu Qingtian emphasized while hurriedly fixing her hair.
“Girl, you’re not planning to go to work this early again, are you?” Nie Shuangshuang asked lazily.
“Yes, I’m going to work early! With such a high salary, naturally, I have to put in more effort than others to earn it. This is my rightful income!”
Mu Qingtian began grooming her chubby face in the mirror.
Chaos erupted in the Ye Mansion as black-clad bodyguards hurried out, indicating that the master of the house had summoned them for an urgent matter.
Uncle Zhong spoke to Ye Ziqian with visible agitation, “President Ye, we really need to be careful these days. An Shaochen has escaped, and the amount he took with him is exactly one-fifth of the group’s total assets.”
“Last time, we guarded against him withdrawing funds, so we only allowed transactions through accounts, not cash exchanges. How could this happen? Does An Shaochen have someone in the bank? Or-” Ye Ziqian rubbed his temples with his right hand, feeling a headache coming on.
An Shaochen’s betrayal had been exposed for a long time. Initially, An Shaochen was just a waiter at the casino. When Ye Ziqian inspected the casino, he noticed An Shaochen’s sharp mind and gradually promoted him to the position of president. However, An Shaochen turned out to be ungrateful, betraying the company and attempting to sell two-fifths of its assets to the top electronic technology company in the country. Ye Ziqian was aware of all this, but due to the complexities of the business world, he couldn’t act to stop An Shaochen. Moreover, he didn’t bother to intervene, letting things take their course. In Ye Ziqian’s mind, he intended to let go of that one-fifth of the assets to potentially multiply the profits.
Ye Ziqian was a businessman with a wolf-like instinct for opportunities.
“President Ye, let me drive you to the office today!” Lu Zizhong volunteered.
“No, let Nan Yan drive,” Ye Ziqian said coldly.
Lu Zizhong quickly relayed the president’s instructions to Nan Yan, but Nan Yan was sick and hadn’t come to work. Qing Shan also looked unwell.
“Qing Shan, are you sick too? You look terrible,” Lu Zizhong asked with concern.
“I’m not feeling well,” Qing Shan replied expressionlessly.
Lu Zizhong went to the bodyguard station and found another driver at random.
“President, Nan Yan and Qing Shan are both sick. Nan Yan didn’t come in, so I found another driver,” Lu Zizhong reported.
“Both sick?” Ye Ziqian pondered this deeply.
An Shaochen’s case was meant to be dealt with thoroughly, but he had miraculously survived the explosion that wiped out his entire family. The problem was that there were four strangers-two couples-among the victims.
“An Shaochen rarely interacted with people. How could there be four extra bodies in the An Mansion? I’ve always felt there was something fishy about it,” Ye Ziqian said to Lu Zizhong.
Meanwhile, Mu Qingtian swaggered into the Ye Mansion. As the housekeeper, she now had the authority to open the gate herself. The day before, Uncle Zhong had explained her duties and handed her a roster. Mu Qingtian entered her small office and began working without a care.
She didn’t notice the tense atmosphere in the mansion that morning.
Mu Qingtian rounded her monthly salary of twenty-eight thousand yuan up to thirty thousand. Calculating that she needed to earn a thousand yuan a day, she knew she had to stay vigilant and do every task meticulously.
Mu Qingtian was quite clever. She quickly learned how to manage people, almost as if it came naturally to her.
Today, the task was to wash the cars. Ye Ziqian owned a total of eleven cars. What to do? Wash ten of them? Mu Qingtian wasn’t sure if washing ten cars at once was too much, but today she decided to go for it.
“Hello, fleet department? Drive all ten cars to the auto repair shop for inspection and washing. Leave one Beetle here!” Mu Qingtian stretched lazily. The morning’s work was done. “Those who work with their minds govern, and those who work with their hands are governed.” This saying rang true. Mu Qingtian pondered this.
“Uncle, I’ve finished all my tasks. Do you have any work for me?” Mu Qingtian asked, looking up.
Ye Ziqian glanced at her. “Uncle Zhong, give her the thousand yuan from yesterday,” Ye Ziqian said expressionlessly. Mu Qingtian stared at him for a while, unsure if this decision was meant to prove his trustworthiness or to encourage her to remain silent today.
Without saying much, Mu Qingtian stepped back.
The company’s chief financial officer called, saying that the casino needed to withdraw cash.
When Ye Ziqian was about to head to work, he discovered that the Ye Mansion’s fleet was down to just one car-a Beetle.
“Who did this? Where are the cars?” Ye Ziqian was visibly angry.
“Uncle, I sent them to the repair shop,” Mu Qingtian said softly.
“Stupid!” Ye Ziqian glared at her sharply.
“Uncle Zhong, you’ll follow me to the company later. I’ll go first-hurry up, what are you waiting for?” Ye Ziqian barked at the dazed Mu Qingtian.
Feeling wronged, Mu Qingtian lowered her head and followed him out.
Inside the small Beetle, it was just the two of them.
“Was this intentional?” President Ye asked, though it wasn’t really a question but a statement. She must have done it on purpose, this foolish woman. She wanted him to be her driver. Ye Ziqian felt he needed to teach her a lesson!
Mu Qingtian’s chubby face was serious, her mind racing with thoughts of what tasks she needed to do and what she might have overlooked. She valued her job deeply and didn’t want any mistakes to slip through.
Ye Ziqian’s phone rang. He answered it, and with a sudden brake, the car came to an abrupt halt. Mu Qingtian’s head nearly hit the windshield. She wanted to express her anger but swallowed it back. After all, he was her boss.
“Find out! You must find out! Do you hear me?” Ye Ziqian shouted into the phone, his voice filled with rage.
Mu Qingtian didn’t ask anything. She was intimidated by his anger. If the boss was in a bad mood and she made a mistake, she could be fired at any moment. This was something every white-collar worker understood. Mu Qingtian’s current job was a mix of white-collar and gray-collar work. Being a housekeeper was more of a gray-collar job since it involved taking care of others.
Ye Ziqian stared at Mu Qingtian, who looked calm and composed. Her face, seen from the side, was as round as a small, puffed-up hill. Ye Ziqian reached out an arm and pulled her into a tight embrace. “You saved my life!”
Mu Qingtian was stunned by his sudden action.
Ye Ziqian slowly lowered his lips and planted a firm kiss on her cheek.
“You’re responsible for this! Don’t touch me!” Mu Qingtian shouted at Ye Ziqian.
Meanwhile, chaos had erupted in the Ye Mansion.
“A Ferrari was blown to pieces! Who could have done this?” Lu Zizhong asked Qing Shan nervously.
Qing Shan replied indifferently, “Perhaps President Ye offended someone.”
“It must be An Shaochen!” Lu Zizhong said with certainty.
“Just a few days ago, he came to the president asking for funds, but President Ye suddenly stripped him of his leadership role and demoted him to a deputy position. He must be harboring resentment! And then, that well-known tragedy happened at An Shaochen’s home-all his relatives were killed. Could he be blaming President Ye for everything?” Lu Zizhong spoke urgently, for if his suspicions were correct, President Ye would be in grave danger. The Flame Gang might have to step in to protect the Ye family. Judging by the car explosion this morning, the other side was willing to go to any lengths.
“Could it be that President Ye was behind it all?” Qing Shan asked Lu Zizhong in a low voice.
“What do you mean, President Ye was behind it?” Lu Zizhong looked shocked. He stared into Qing Shan’s lifeless eyes, as if searching for the answer he wanted.
“The explosion at Mr. An’s home!” Qing Shan said word by word.
“We’ve been with President Ye for so many years. We know what kind of person he is. If there was betrayal, he would use extreme measures to cut it off at the root. But Mr. An didn’t do anything to harm the group!”
