Take Me Away, My Love - Chapter 37 - Doubts
After waiting for quite a while and calling out for some time, Jian Yiqing still didn’t see any sign of Su Xin. Reluctantly, he turned around and left.
It seemed that he had really done something foolish with nothing better to do.
Seeing Su Xin walking intimately with another man had stirred bitterness in Jian Yiqing’s heart. Even he was puzzled about why he had suddenly rushed there.
He had behaved like a madman, shouting and causing a scene. Looking back, it was quite embarrassing.
He hoped that the incident wouldn’t spread.
Having come to terms with it, Jian Yiqing turned and walked away.
Unfortunately, he was unaware that Li Minchun had been observing his every move from beginning to end.
This guy, how is he still like this? It’s truly speechless.
Jian Yiqing was always suspicious and paranoid, and even now was no different. Despite knowing there was nothing between them, he still wanted to meddle. Sometimes, such people could be quite unbearable.
However, a faint smile appeared on Li Minchun’s lips.
“Can I stay at your place tonight?”
Taking advantage of the situation, Xian Cheng quickly asked. Such a suggestion indeed made Li Minchun frown. To be honest, she didn’t like sharing her space with others. Even if no one would know, it wasn’t acceptable. It was her own form of mental purity.
Xian Cheng pitifully shook his wrist, indicating, “This is your doing.”
Li Minchun had no choice but to nod. After all, she had wronged him.
Reluctantly, she could only let him rest on the sofa in the living room.
“Are you really not going to let me sleep in the bed? I’m a patient, you know,” Xian Cheng, like any other man, seized every opportunity in matters of affection, unwilling to let go if there was a chance.
“No way. If you don’t sleep on the sofa or stay put, leave my house!”
Now, Li Minchun’s tone became increasingly firm. Xian Cheng had no choice but to give up.
The night passed without incident.
The next morning, when Li Minchun woke up, she found a note from Xian Cheng, but he was already gone.
She opened the note and was surprised by the few words written on it.
Just those few words were enough to change Li Minchun’s expression drastically.
She had to act quickly now and get Jian Qingtian out of there, find a safe place for him to hide.
But when she hurriedly found Jian Yiqing and proposed this plan, his face was full of doubt, and he immediately asked, “How do you know Jian Qingtian is in danger? And who is targeting my son?”
This jerk, why is he always like this? Just hiding should be enough since it’s beneficial for Jian Qingtian. Why does he have to ask so many questions?
However, these thoughts could only remain in Li Minchun’s mind, as she couldn’t say them out loud.
She had to come up with a somewhat credible reason and said, “One of my subordinates sent me a message saying that someone might be targeting Jian Qingtian, and the person’s name might be Cheng Mo.”
If necessary, she could only bring Cheng Mo into it. Otherwise, there was no way Jian Yiqing would believe her.
“Cheng Mo?”
Upon hearing that name, Jian Yiqing’s brow furrowed tightly.
Admittedly, this woman’s influence was quite significant. Whenever Cheng Mo was mentioned, people on the other side would think of the term ‘ruthless.’
But now that Li Minchun was no longer with him, what was Cheng Mo doing here, and why was she targeting Jian Qingtian? What was her intention?
For a moment, Jian Yiqing shifted his suspicious gaze back to Li Minchun.
“Tell me, why would Cheng Mo want to harm Jian Qingtian? What benefit does she gain from it?”
“Perhaps she wants some financial support from you. It’s well-known that your past relationship wasn’t ordinary, so it’s quite normal for her to target you.”
What Li Minchun said was indeed something everyone knew, which naturally wouldn’t arouse Jian Yiqing’s suspicion.
Additionally, the intelligence he received indicated that those originally monitoring Cheng Mo in Italy unexpectedly found that she hadn’t appeared in their sight for a long time.
It really seemed possible that, as Su Xin suggested, something might be going on.
“Alright, let’s leave the matter of Jian Qingtian to Zhang Mi.”
At crucial moments, the person Jian Yiqing trusted the most was Zhang Mi.
Since Jian Yiqing finally started taking the matter seriously, Li Minchun felt relieved.
However, she was a bit skeptical about whether Cheng Mo had gone to find Chen Zhen. Logically, Cheng Mo should have approached Chen Zhen, but Chen Zhen hadn’t mentioned any of this to her. What was really going on?
Quietly, Li Minchun had arranged a second meeting with Chen Zhen.
The two of them were leisurely drinking coffee at a café.
Li Minchun got straight to the point and asked, “I heard Cheng Mo is back. Has she contacted you recently?”
Upon hearing Cheng Mo’s name, Chen Zhen nearly spilled her coffee, awkwardly wiping the spill from her hand with a napkin and saying, “No, she hasn’t. Has she returned?”
Although Li Minchun sensed something was off with Chen Zhen, she still reminded her, “If you see Cheng Mo or hear any news about her, make sure to tell me, okay?”
Chen Zhen nodded, “Alright.”
After that, the two of them went their separate ways.
Watching Li Minchun walk far away, Chen Zhen finally started heading home. To avoid being noticed, she took a convoluted route to evade anyone following her.
Ever since she met Li Minchun, Chen Zhen’s life had become much more stressful. At the very least, she could no longer live as leisurely and carefree as she used to.
After taking a long detour, Chen Zhen finally returned to her residential complex.
She looked around, saw no suspicious vehicles, and entered the complex, initially turning to the right.
But as soon as she passed the first building, she quickly turned left.
It turned out that her initial right turn was also a ploy to shake off any potential followers.
After wandering some more, she finally arrived in front of her building.
She went upstairs and opened the door.
Upon entering the room, Chen Zhen was met with an incredibly messy living room. Takeout boxes and empty bottles were strewn everywhere.
The TV was on, broadcasting the news.
As Chen Zhen walked further in, tidying up the mess, she began to hear some suggestive sounds. Heading toward the bedroom, she pushed the door open and saw two naked people engrossed in their activities. The couple was so absorbed in their moment of ecstasy that Chen Zhen’s presence not only didn’t bother them but actually seemed to add to their excitement.
Watching the two bodies moving in rhythm, Chen Zhen felt a wave of disgust wash over her.
Furious, she shouted, “What are you doing? This is my room!”
Seeing Chen Zhen’s angry face, Cheng Mo repositioned herself comfortably and said with a seductive tone, “Chen Zhen, we’re best friends. Why don’t you join us? I promise it’ll blow your mind! What do you say?”
Cheng Duo, who had initially been worried about Cheng Mo getting jealous, had his eyes light up at the suggestion. He ogled Chen Zhen with a lecherous gaze.
Though Chen Zhen didn’t possess Cheng Mo’s angelic looks or devilish body, her innocent demeanor was irresistible to men.
The thought of having two such extraordinary women in his love nest was enough for Cheng Duo to feel that he could die content.
“Shameless!”
Chen Zhen trembled with anger. She was now beginning to regret not taking Li Minchun’s advice earlier; she wouldn’t have ended up in such a situation.
Unfortunately, it was too late for regrets.
A few days earlier, while Cheng Mo was out shopping with her son, they unexpectedly ran into Cheng Mo and Cheng Duo. Then, she was threatened and taken back to her home by them.
To be honest, if not for Cheng Duo’s tearful display, pleading about not wanting to be separated from his son who was too young to be without a father, Chen Zhen would never have agreed to let them stay at her place.
Her own feelings were one thing, but her son was what mattered most.
Regrettably, they pulled this kind of stunt under her roof, and it was truly maddening.
“I’m warning you for the last time, you’d better leave my house immediately, and don’t let my son see any of this.”
With that, Chen Zhen turned and walked out, thinking to herself that perhaps she should wash her sheets today.
