Taboo Mage - Chapter 178 - Encountering an Old Friend at the Nightclub
As I was lost in thought, Zhou Qifang came down the stairs wearing flip-flops, sporting a brand-new T-shirt. It seemed he had taken the opportunity, while I was away, to buy himself quite a few new clothes.
He truly was a flashy man.
I took a sideways glance at him. Zhou Qifang was holding a cup, walking straight towards the kitchen. But as he passed by me, he suddenly stopped, scanning my lower half.
“Gu Qingshu, when did you hook up with that ladyboy in Thailand last time?”
His sudden mention of that incident made me narrow my eyes. My fists clenched; if he dared to say one more word, I could guarantee that my iron fists would be making an appearance on his delicate face.
Zhou Qifang took a step back, looked at me, and said leisurely, “Gu Qingshu, I think you’re just a slave to your desires, struggling with loneliness.”
After saying that, he glanced at my lower half again and quickly turned to walk toward the kitchen.
I was momentarily stunned, following his gaze. At some point, my loose pajamas had somehow managed to create a prominent bulge.
Damn! I cursed inwardly, jumped up from the couch, and hurried into the bathroom.
As the cold water poured over me, I finally felt a bit of relief from the heat inside. I leaned my hands against the bathroom wall, and suddenly, a thought struck me.
Why was I so fixated on the fact that I dreamed of Li Mi instead of dreaming of a… woman…
Right! I had merely dreamed of a woman I once had different thoughts about. As a normal man, what was wrong with dreaming of a woman?
Seeing my lower half gradually soften, I chuckled to myself. After quickly washing up, I put on some clothes and headed out.
When I emerged from the bathroom, Zhou Qifang was sitting on the sofa, drinking water. Upon seeing me walk out, a flash of disdain crossed his eyes.
I paused mid-step; I couldn’t let this guest from Thailand miss out on such a great opportunity.
“Zhou Qifang, let’s go! I’ll take you to a great place!” I said with a narrowed smile as I walked over to him.
Zhou Qifang looked at me warily and shook his head in refusal.
I wouldn’t let him off that easily. I bent down, snatched the cup from his hands, and tugged on his arm, dragging him outside while muttering, “You’ll definitely love this place in the future, I promise!”
It was a nightclub, owned by Wu Qian. When that exceptionally haughty and glamorous woman handed me her business card, she said one thing.
“As long as it’s under my name, if Mr. Gu shows this card, I guarantee he’ll have smooth access.”
I touched the business card in my pocket and pulled Zhou Qifang’s arm, leading him inside.
As soon as we entered, a man in a suit approached us. I cleared my throat and said in a serious tone, “Hello, this friend from Thailand is here to experience the excellent service of Regal Grandeur.”
I thought my wording was quite diplomatic, but the manager, true to his position, threw a glance, and immediately a woman emerged from the corridor.
With a slim waist and cherry lips, her wavy hair cascaded like seaweed. Hey! Say what you will, but sometimes such cliché descriptions really hit the mark in key moments.
“Hua-Jie, these two guests are here to take a look around; please arrange something,” the manager said, immediately smiling obsequiously as the woman appeared.
It seemed that in this nightclub, Hua-Jie held a higher status after all.
Hua-Jie glanced at us a few times, resting one arm on the nearby counter, holding a cigarette between her fingers, exuding an alluring charm. Coupled with the enchanting lights around, I suddenly felt a rush of blood to my head.
“Here’s the deal, we have a few new people from a few days ago, perfect for our guests to check out.”
With that, Hua-Jie waved her hand, and immediately someone went down to make preparations. At this point, Zhou Qifang still didn’t understand why I brought him here, which was a bit ridiculous.
Sure enough, Zhou Qifang reached out and pinched my lower back hard, causing me to nearly jump up from the pain.
“Gu Qingshu, you’ve got some guts to come to a place like this.”
“What’s there to be scared of? I don’t have a guardian! Who can tell me what to do?” I rolled my eyes at him and slipped my hand into my pocket.
Zhou Qifang realized I was doing this on purpose; he didn’t respond but crossed his arms, leisurely taking in the surroundings.
I fumbled in my pocket and suddenly brushed against Wu Qian’s business card. After a moment of consideration, I took it out and confidently placed it on the counter.
Hua-Jie was quite astute. With a single glance at the card, her expression changed instantly.
“Oh, so you’re friends with Boss Wu! Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
Her face shifted like the weather on a hot summer day. Before I could recover from my surprise, Hua-Jie had already arranged a private room, and in less than five minutes, a line of ladies followed her out behind.
This was the first time I had ever witnessed such a scene. I cast a sideways glance at Zhou Qifang, who was still standing there with his arms crossed, clearly not planning to speak.
Turning my attention back, I scanned the women in front of me. They were all heavily made up, and I simply couldn’t muster any excitement.
“What’s the matter? Doesn’t Boss Gu like this kind?” Hua-Jie’s eyes remained fixed on my expression. With a single frown, she could guess what I was thinking.
I nodded, “Do you have anyone more innocent-looking? This type… is just too hard to approach.”
Hua-Jie nodded and called someone to go out and bring in a new group.
This time, I was quite satisfied. I waved my hand in front of a row of young women and finally settled on the last one.
Since she walked in, she had kept her head down. Although I wasn’t familiar with places like this, I had seen enough to know that I had never heard of a girl who entered without daring to look up at the customers.
“Li Mi! What are you doing? Lift your head! Have you forgotten what Hua-Jie taught you?” Hua-Jie said with a smile, though there was a hint of seriousness in her tone.
Li Mi? The name sent a shock through me, and I suddenly felt a wave of unease in my chest.
The girl flinched slightly and finally lifted her head, her eyes turning to me.
Li Mi! I widened my eyes in disbelief-could it really be her?
“What’s going on? Does Boss Gu know her?”
I stood frozen, watching as tears began streaming from Li Mi’s eyes. I couldn’t quite articulate what I felt inside; I simply pointed my hand toward her.
“Then how about this boss?” Hua-Jie turned her gaze toward Zhou Qifang standing nearby.
