Supreme Rogue Play in Another World - Chapter 47 - Just Deserts
“Important people often forget things easily.” Zhou Cang began to list the evidence of Ge Long’s crimes one by one. “I’ve recorded all our conversations, including the orders you gave. I believe they can serve as evidence. Do you remember when the drug dealers from Thailand said the prices were going up, and you went with me to negotiate? Not only did I record it, but I also used a pinhole camera to capture every detail. When you assaulted the new waiter, I filmed it and made a disc. To prevent you from using fake evidence as an excuse, I collected the drugs you touched. Your fingerprints can’t be faked, can they?” Zhou Cang then presented a slew of evidence that could see Ge Long jailed for hundreds of years.
Ge Long wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. “Smart kid, you were busy behind my back all along! I really let a wolf into the house this time! But no worries, I still have my trump card!” With that, Ge Long signaled to Sun Hai, who retreated into the private room. Shortly after, two people, tied up and gagged, were pushed out.
“Third Zhuang, Glasses Shorty!” Zhou Cang and Run Tiancheng shouted in unison.
“I foresaw this move, so I sent Hagen to the hospital to kidnap them back. How about this deal? Let us go, and I can ensure their safety. Otherwise, it’s mutually assured destruction!” Ge Long yanked Glasses Shorty over, pressing the dark gun barrel against his forehead.
Glasses Shorty couldn’t speak, shaking his head in fear as Zhou Cang gritted his teeth and put down the gun in his hand.
“Hahaha! Compete with me? Maybe in a few decades!” Ge Long said as he instructed Ge Fei, “Inform the old master, secure our Swiss bank account, and prepare to leave the country immediately! Our money is enough for us to live comfortably abroad for the rest of our lives!”
Ge Fei quickly took out his phone and started dialing a number.
“You scumbags, I will never let you get away with this, never!” Run Tiancheng suddenly shoved away one of the thirty-two elites who was supporting him. He swayed for a moment before steadying himself, a surge of purple qi rising from his body. Zhou Cang suddenly felt as if Run Tiancheng had become a furnace, radiating scorching heat, and hastily stepped aside.
“I didn’t expect you still had strength left? Don’t act recklessly, or I’ll blow his brains out!” Ge Long released the safety catch, and Sun Hai also drew his gun, pressing it against the heart of Third Zhuang, ready to fire at any moment.
Run Tiancheng had lost all sense of reason, completely ignoring Ge Long’s threats. Suddenly, he exerted all his strength, his body’s muscles and blood vessels strained under the pressure until they burst open, causing streams of blood to spray from his body. The blood wasn’t bright red but dark red, evaporating instantly upon contact with the purple qi surrounding him.
“What a damn monster!” Ge Long shot Run Tiancheng in the forehead, but the bullet bounced off as if it had hit steel.
“Tiancheng, don’t act rashly, watch out for the hostage!” Zhou Cang anxiously warned Run Tiancheng as he saw him start to lift his foot and walk towards Ge Long.
Run Tiancheng seemed to halt in his tracks as if he heard Zhou Cang, giving him a glance that shocked Zhou Cang. At that moment, Run Tiancheng’s eyes were blood-red, completely devoid of pupils, just a uniform crimson, further accentuated by the blood and mud covering his body, resembling a ghastly demon.
In that instant, Zhou Cang wasn’t sure if his eyes were deceiving him, but Run Tiancheng’s figure seemed to blur, followed by a horrific scream from Ge Long.
As everyone’s attention shifted to Ge Long, they saw Run Tiancheng standing beside him, holding onto Ge Long’s forearm, which still clutched the gun in its right hand.
Ge Long’s right arm had been violently torn off at the elbow, exposing the muscles and tendons at the wound, with blood spurting out like a fountain.
“Brother!” Ge Fei panicked at the sight, raising his gun to shoot at Run Tiancheng, but before he could pull the trigger, he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. Looking down, he saw a severed hand, still gripping a gun, now embedded in his stomach.
Sun Hai and Scarface Four, terrified, turned and ran towards the private room. Unfortunately, they were too slow for Run Tiancheng; before they could get far, Scarface Four’s leg was sliced off, leaving a trail of blood as it flew into the air, and Sun Hai took a punch to the chest, shattering his breastbone and spraying blood from his back.
“Enough, Tiancheng!” Zhou Cang hurriedly ran in front of Ge Long to block Run Tiancheng, whose blood-soaked hand was already raised, about to crush Ge Long’s skull: “Stop, or they will die!”
Run Tiancheng coldly stared at Zhou Cang and finally spoke harshly, “Move aside. They killed Jing. They must die!”
“No, that’s enough! Let the law punish them now. If you kill them, you become a murderer just like them. What difference would there be? Do you think Boss Lady would be happy about that from beyond?” Zhou Cang shouted at Run Tiancheng.
“Jing…” Zhou Cang’s words seemed to awaken Run Tiancheng. His eyes slowly returned to normal, and he unclenched his fists, closed his eyes, shook his head, and walked down the stairs.
Zhou Cang wiped his sweat, looking at the barely alive criminals on the ground, and sighed in relief that it was finally over.
The next morning, Zhou Cang invited Run Tiancheng to his home, ready to explain the entire sequence of events.
Run Tiancheng appeared much calmer, and though he still looked haggard, he was at least able to joke and patiently listened as Zhou Cang recounted his experiences.
Since Guan Hu was framed by Zhou Cang and subjected to internal discipline, Zhou Cang suddenly received shocking news: Ge Yuntian, the municipal committee secretary of Xinyuan City, was planning to retire and have Ge Long succeed him. This was a devastating piece of news. If Ge Long became the municipal committee secretary, stepping into the political arena, it would become exceedingly difficult to apprehend him.
At this time, Zhou Cang discovered that half of the goods seized from Guan Hu were meth. Knowing that Ge Long would never allow students to sell such drugs, Zhou Cang devised a plan. He used these drugs to gain proximity to Ge Long and infiltrated Ge Long’s organization. To ensure secrecy, he staged a dramatic fallout with the Tiancheng Gang and orchestrated a ruse involving Xin Weng, feigning an attack on twenty schools.
This left Ge Long no choice but to declare war on Xin Weng, allowing Zhou Cang to gather evidence of Ge Long’s manipulation of criminal gangs. Gaining Ge Long’s trust, Zhou Cang successfully accessed his drug trafficking network. By using Thai drug dealers he had captured earlier as bait, he forced Ge Long into drug deals, obtaining substantial evidence. However, in order to also bring Ge Yuntian to justice, Zhou Cang delayed the arrests. It wasn’t until Run Tiancheng’s unexpected involvement that the situation changed.
“So, I ended up disrupting your plans. How did you, a student, suddenly become an intern police director?” Run Tiancheng, enlightened after Zhou Cang’s explanation, had always felt there was more to Zhou Cang’s actions, but this revelation was beyond his imagination.
“In fact, I graduated from the police academy while I was still a sophomore in high school. Using my family’s political connections through the old master’s influence, I submitted resumes at the provincial level, keeping everything confidential. The drug cases in Xinyuan City implicated too many people, so even the municipal committee secretary was unaware…” Zhou Cang said, pouring a cup of water for Run Tiancheng. “And don’t assume I got the intern director position through money or connections. The story about Xia Hui is true. After that incident, I left Xinyuan City to study in a nearby city and managed to solve a few significant cases, leading to my promotion.”
“Well, being a student and simultaneously becoming a city’s police director does seem a bit far-fetched!” Run Tiancheng expressed his doubts.
“I have concealed many things. I’m actually a few years older than you. Four years ago, I had already earned a bachelor’s degree in law in Europe. So why return to redo high school? To cover up the fact that I was attending the police academy simultaneously. Why the need for disguise? Because my father had long suspected Ge Yuntian of allowing his son to engage in illegal activities, making it necessary to hide my identity!” Zhou Cang finally revealed the truth.
It turned out everything was a series of traps within traps. Run Tiancheng suddenly felt a chill in his heart. Society was complex, and people’s hearts were even more complicated. He realized he still had much to learn about the world.
