Supreme Rogue Play in Another World - Chapter 37 - Consolidating Power
“Fire! Kill them!” Xin Weng could no longer tolerate such a brash young whippersnapper daring to act so recklessly here; it was a tremendous disgrace.
The bodyguards received the order and raised their handguns, but in that instant, the weirdos suddenly vanished from their sight, leaving only Zhou Cang laughing while Wei-Ge and the others, seeing so many guns aimed at them, inevitably felt fear and quickly hid behind Zhou Cang.
“Watch your backs!” As the young man shouted, all the bodyguards were stunned for a moment. They hurriedly turned to look behind them, but by then, daggers had pierced through their hearts, and their necks were effortlessly snapped by large hands.
Watching his elite troops being wiped out in an instant, Xin Weng was dumbfounded, and the young man’s legs gave out, causing him to sit down hard on the ground.
The weirdos chuckled wickedly as they wiped their hands and walked back to Zhou Cang’s side.
“You… who exactly are you? How could you… how could you…” Xin Weng stammered in shock.
“Hmph, what elite bodyguards? In front of the Eastern Thirty-Two Elites, they are like paper, easily torn apart without any effort!” Zhou Cang touched his nose.
“Eastern Thirty-Two Elites? Zhou Cang…” Suddenly, it dawned on Xin Weng, and he slapped his thigh, saying, “How did I not realize it? I thought Zhou Cang was just a student hooligan, but it turns out, you are Zhou Jiang’s son!”
“That’s right, but it seems a bit late for you to realize now. I’ve never denied my identity; you just misunderstood on your own!” Zhou Cang said with a smile as he approached Xin Weng.
“You! Stay away from Xin Weng!” The young man suddenly leapt up and charged towards Zhou Cang.
A cold light flashed in Zhou Cang’s eyes. He swiftly kicked the young man in the chin, then raised his right foot high and slammed it down on the young man’s crown. Turning around, he delivered a sweeping kick that sent the young man flying, immediately collapsing on the ground, blood seeping from every orifice.
“What do you want? Just say it, I can give you anything. You know, my power is not much less than Ge Long’s!” Xin Weng began to feel the chill of fear and started to negotiate.
“There’s no need- I’ve taken everything from you, including your life!” Zhou Cang slowly put on a pair of gloves he took out from his pocket, then picked up a bodyguard’s handgun from the ground and aimed it at Xin Weng.
Just then, the telephone on the table suddenly rang. Xin Weng glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and burst into laughter. “It seems they’ve succeeded. Ge Long, you didn’t expect to be outmaneuvered by me again, did you? The last laugh is mine! To see your crazed face before I die is a death without regrets for me!”
Zhou Cang also started laughing. He gestured for Xin Weng to answer the call. After Xin Weng picked up the phone, his expression changed, and he said in disbelief, “No… no way, how could this happen? My men… they’ve been completely wiped out!”
Zhou Cang’s laughter grew louder as he said, “To think you could fight Long-Ge with the little power you have left is like throwing an egg against a rock!” He then gently pulled the trigger.
A crisp gunshot rang out, and a round hole appeared in Xin Weng’s forehead. His expression was frozen in a moment of defiance. A man who had weathered many storms in society finally fell at that moment.
Zhou Cang’s face turned serious; he threw the handgun aside and walked out of the quadrangle dwelling without a word. To him, Xin Weng was merely a valuable sacrifice, and he knew that from the moment he pulled the trigger, some things would never be concluded…
The morning sun slowly rose from the horizon, and the darkness of the night retreated with the emerging light. For all the police in Xinyuan City, it had been a nightmarish night.
Director Jiang submitted his resignation to the General Office of the Municipal Committee early in the morning. The mayor was pacing in his office like an ant on a hot pan. An emergency meeting had already been held, and Municipal Committee Secretary Ge Yuntian had gone to the province for a long-term meeting. The mayor hadn’t expected such a calamitous event to occur last night. Looking at a document on the desk, the mayor’s head began to spin.
Three incidents of aggravated assault, one intentional homicide-resulting in seventy-three deaths, three hundred twelve seriously injured, and six hundred injured. These were shockingly high numbers. After a long thought, the mayor issued several orders crucial to his position: first, to block the news and absolutely prevent the province from finding out; second, to form a special task force to crack the case quickly; third, to stabilize the citizens to prevent panic; and fourth, to severely discipline the police leadership at all levels and announce compensation to soothe the public’s mind.
At the Heavenly Dream Karaoke Bar, a celebration was currently underway.
All members organized by Ge Long were present, seizing the opportunity to lavish praise on Zhou Cang. This quickly established Zhou Cang as one of Ge Long’s key lieutenants, on equal standing with Sun Hai. In just half a month since joining Ge Long, Zhou Cang had rapidly become an idol among delinquent youth, the criminal underworld, and villains alike.
Zhou Cang’s actions also swiftly positioned Ge Long as the boss ruling over the underworld in Xinyuan City. With his suspicions about Zhou Cang now fully dispelled, Ge Long began discussing other matters: “Little brother, come help me take over the heroin business!” Ge Long valued Zhou Cang for his sharp mind and tenacity-qualities crucial for competing with other drug lords. Sun Hai had been assisting Zhou Cang with these matters, but one man alone was not enough. Now with Zhou Cang’s help, Ge Long could almost see bundles of cash sprouting wings and flying towards him.
Zhou Cang did not reject Ge Long’s proposal. Initially hesitant about the drug trade, he was eventually persuaded by Ge Long’s relentless persuasion and nodded his agreement. From then on, Zhou Cang’s name became well-known throughout Xinyuan City, second only to Ge Long himself.
The news quickly spread to Yuhua University. Run Tiancheng, as if he had anticipated this, sat on the rooftop smoking and said to Glasses Shorty and Third Zhuang, among others, “He finally made his move. It was only a matter of time. The last time I saw him, I could see the determination and ambition in his eyes. He is no longer the Zhou Cang we knew!”
“Ah! I didn’t expect people to change so easily. We were all deceived by him in the past. Well, from now on, everyone will go their separate ways, and no one can influence anyone else,” Glasses Shorty sighed, seemingly regretting something.
“Let’s not talk about him anymore. Next week is our school’s anniversary, and the president wants our Tiancheng Gang to put on a performance. Let’s discuss this now,” seeing everyone’s gloomy faces, Run Tiancheng quickly changed the subject.
“What kind of performance? It’s as if the Tiancheng Gang is some official school organization. I don’t know what the president is thinking. At most, we’re just maintaining order and organizing things, yet he acts as if we can do anything,” Third Zhuang spoke up, his words tinged with sarcasm.
“How about this-this afternoon I’ll see if any of the girls in Tiancheng Gang can put together a singing or dancing act. Or maybe a performance of smashing stones with their chests…” Ouyang Jing suddenly suggested.
“Are you still my girlfriend? Smashing stones with my chest? That’s your idea? If anyone should perform, it should be Zhuang,” Run Tiancheng protested, pursing his lips.
“Me?” Third Zhuang’s head shook like a rattle, eliciting laughter from everyone and completely dispelling the earlier somber mood.
Meanwhile, Zhou Cang was being summoned by Ge Long to his villa…
