Supreme Rogue Play in Another World - Chapter 32 - Betrayal
The Heavenly Dream Karaoke Bar was owned by Ge Long and was the first business he operated under the guise of legitimacy. However, the rampant prostitution within was not directly managed by him.
Tonight, the third floor of the bar was particularly quiet, as Ge Long had ordered its closure. In the most luxurious private room, numerous bottles of fine champagne and red wine were opened.
Ge Long lounged lazily on the sofa, with two attractive prostitutes on either side. Several bodyguards were also getting handsy with the ladies nearby.
Zhou Cang naturally had a girl in his arms as he sat next to Ge Long. On the other side sat a scar-faced man-Scarface Four from the Speeding Disco.
“Tonight, Scarface Four is treating us, so Zhou Cang, don’t hold back. if you fancy any of the girls, take them to a private room and don’t worry about sparing his generosity! Hahaha!” Ge Long said cheerfully.
“Thank you, Fourth Brother. I won’t hold back!” Zhou Cang politely nodded toward Scarface Four.
Scarface Four quickly responded, “Not at all! I should be the one thanking you, my friend. You have no idea how important that batch of goods was to me. Thank goodness you found it, or I’d be in a really tight spot!” Scarface Four picked up a bottle of red wine. “Come, brother, a toast to you!”
Zhou Cang shot a glance at Ge Long, took a long swig from his bottle, and said, “Long-Ge, Fourth Brother is truly generous. It’s an honor for me to drink with the both of you tonight. Won’t you have a drink as well, brother?”
Ge Long smiled, nodded, and took a hearty drink from his bottle before exhaling a cloud of alcohol-infused breath. He waved all the prostitutes and bodyguards out of the private room before asking Zhou Cang, “So, brother, I’ve heard that this batch of goods isn’t as simple as you claimed?”
Zhou Cang quickly replied, “Haha, nothing escapes your notice, brother! Let me tell you the full story.” He then explained how Wei-Ge had coerced him into dealing drugs and how he ended up seizing the batch. However, he added a twist to the story: the plan wasn’t his idea but rather the result of persuasion by someone named Guan Hu. The modified story went like this:
Guan Hu approached Zhou Cang with interest in a batch of goods but was encountering obstacles, so he asked Zhou Cang for assistance. Guan Hu promised a reward should the operation succeed. Zhou Cang, not lacking money, initially refused. Guan Hu, however, invoked Wei-Ge, saying that if Zhou Cang helped him, he’d assist Zhou Cang against Wei-Ge and his associates. Reluctantly, Zhou Cang executed the plan and captured the batch, only to find it included not just drugs but a package of heroin. By that time, Guan Hu had vanished with the advance payment of 300,000 yuan. After investigating, Zhou Cang discovered a potential link to Ge Long and decided to approach him directly.
Zhou Cang spoke with impeccable logic, and Ge Long and Scarface Four nodded repeatedly as he explained, “Because Wei-Ge and his crew have been troubling me, I’ve taken control of the thirty-two elites from my dad. I’m thinking about settling scores with Wei-Ge and Liang-Ge tomorrow!” Saying this, he drank furiously from his glass, his face reddening with the alcohol.
“So that’s the case, hmm… But little brother, using the thirty-two elites against students doesn’t seem quite right, does it?” Ge Long’s tone showed no suspicion towards Zhou Cang’s statement.
“What else can I do? I’m about to be shat and pissed on!” Zhou Cang angrily slammed his bottle on the table.
“Brother, between us, that Jiuzhou Higher Education Institution Alliance does have some connections with me. I initially set it up to help me manage my venues. You know, I have quite a few entertainment venues, and having students manage them makes things easier for me. Recently, I’ve even helped Fourth Brother out by selling some drugs, although it’s not really related to me, my reputation is still involved,” Ge Long revealed after some thought.
“Ah? It was Long-Ge who set it up? No wonder they’re so arrogant. With Long-Ge backing them, who would dare to be otherwise? But that makes things difficult. I can’t just take action against them…” Zhou Cang’s face showed both difficulty and surprise, appearing both pitiful and troubled.
“I might have a solution…” Ge Long said with a sly smile, “Would you be willing to help your brother out?”
“Oh? Long-Ge is willing to take me under your wing? I would be more than grateful!” Zhou Cang could surely win an award if he pursued acting, his skills far surpassing those of second-rate movie stars.
“Heh, having a person like you help out is an honor for me,” Ge Long and Zhou Cang complimented each other. Ge Long then touched his slick, shiny head and said, “Since that Guan Hu has been taken care of by me, you can take his place. From now on, the Jiuzhou Higher Education Institution Alliance will be led by Yuhua University, how about that?”
“How could I?” Zhou Cang showed difficulty but could not hide his joy, “And about those drugs…”
“If you’re not interested in those things, let Miao Wei and his crew handle it. I have dozens of arcades and pool halls under me, I’ll put you in charge of those! The profits might not catch your eye, but they’re more than enough to buy some cigarettes and alcohol for your henchmen. And if you like, you can also take over the karaoke bar!” Ge Long, ever the cunning fox, swiftly uncovered Zhou Cang’s concerns.
“Is that so? Then I shall humbly obey! I here toast to you, brother!” Zhou Cang revealed a crafty smile, raised his bottle, and the three of them drained their drinks under the dim lights…
The next morning, Zhou Cang returned home and sternly addressed the group of students waiting for him: “Alright, it’s over. Boss Guan is done for. You can all go back now. Starting today, I’m leaving the Tiancheng Gang. If any of you still want to stick with me, stay. If not, you’re free to do whatever you want.”
The most surprised were Run Tiancheng and Third Zhuang. Completely bewildered, they quickly asked, “What on earth happened? You were out all night and now you’re back saying this madness?”
Zhou Cang didn’t answer their questions, nor did he even glance at them. He took off his jacket and tossed it onto the sofa. “I’m tired. I’m going to get some sleep.”
“Hey, answer our questions! And what happened to that batch of goods? Was it you who took it?” Third Zhuang darted in front of Zhou Cang, blocking his path.
“Are you annoying or what? Yes, I took it and returned it to Ge Long. Why wouldn’t I return someone’s property?” Zhou Cang’s tone was as cold as the Antarctic.
“What? Say that again if you dare,” Third Zhuang grabbed Zhou Cang by the collar, his eyes nearly bulging out.
“I can say it as many times as you like. From today on, Ge Long is my boss, and I’m leaving the Tiancheng Gang. From now on, you walk your open road, and I’ll cross my single-plank bridge,” Zhou Cang licked his lips. “I advise you to let go of me. Don’t forget where you are; even if my dad is on a six-month business trip, you can’t afford to hit me!”
“What did you say?” Third Zhuang was fuming and clenched his fists, ready to swing at Zhou Cang.
“Stop!” Run Tiancheng finally spoke up. Sitting on the sofa with his hands under his chin, he stared intently at Zhou Cang for a long time before saying, “Is everything you said true?”
“That’s right,” Zhou Cang adjusted his clothes, replied to Run Tiancheng, and then turned to head up the stairs.
“I understand,” Run Tiancheng stood up and addressed the group, “Tiancheng Gang members, let’s go. As of today, Zhou Cang has no relation to the Tiancheng Gang. Those who want to follow him, stay here!” With that, he stepped out of the Zhou Family’s door.
