Supreme Rogue Play in Another World - Chapter 26 - Zhou's Ingenious Plan
Run Tiancheng followed Zhou Jiang into the villa, passing through a spacious hall and a long corridor until a massive iron door appeared before him.
“This is…?” Run Tiancheng asked with some confusion, glancing at Zhou Jiang.
“It was Zhou Cang’s idea. He said that even at home, the basement is the safest, especially with so many people around…” Zhou Jiang explained as he pressed the intercom next to the iron door. “Zhou Cang, Run Tiancheng is here!”
After a short wait, the iron door slowly opened and Ouyang Jing rushed out, immediately throwing her arms around Run Tiancheng’s neck, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Glasses Shorty and Third Zhuang followed, and behind them were Zhou Cang and dozens of students who greeted Run Tiancheng with broad smiles, bowing respectfully as they exclaimed in unison, “Boss!”
“You all… you’re all here?” Run Tiancheng was taken aback for a moment before gently detaching Ouyang Jing from himself and stepping forward to Zhou Cang. “I heard from your father that this was all your idea. What’s going on?”
Zhou Cang chuckled and ushered Run Tiancheng back into the basement. “I’ll tell you everything in detail soon. But I heard that you went to Tianshi University alone, caused a stir, and took down hundreds of their people, scaring Wei-Ge so much he almost wet his pants. You’re truly remarkable!”
“I can’t believe your intel is this good while hiding out here!” Run Tiancheng remarked as he descended a winding staircase. He realized why the students’ gazes were full of respect and admiration, something different from before-it was all connected to this incident.
The basement was incredibly spacious, with dozens of neatly arranged rooms, a huge LCD TV, several computers, leather sofas, a bathroom-everything one could need, like a small self-contained world.
“This used to be where our bodyguards and servants lived,” Zhou Cang said with a faint smile, noticing Run Tiancheng’s dazed expression. Once everyone settled down on the sofas, Zhou Cang began to recount what had happened during Run Tiancheng’s absence.
After Run Tiancheng’s silent disappearance, the Jiuzhou Higher Education Institution Alliance began to frequently target the Tiancheng Gang. Students were attacked on their way home, and drugs occasionally appeared in the school, creating widespread panic.
Zhou Cang and Third Zhuang constantly confronted those who caused trouble, but their opponents were numerous and endlessly inventive, making it impossible for the two to anticipate every move.
Until the night before last, Zhou Cang received a tip that Boss Liang of Mingdu University had stored a batch of goods in an abandoned warehouse in the western suburb. He quickly devised a plan, starting with sending someone disguised as a member of the sports academy, one of the alliance’s schools, to spread false rumors that Tiancheng Gang’s leader, Run Tiancheng, was captured and held in the western suburb warehouse. He then had someone leak to Boss Liang that Boss Guan of the sports academy wanted to seize the goods. He organized everyone, including Ouyang Jing and Glasses Shorty, for a rapid assault on the warehouse.
The traces of fighting that Run Tiancheng saw were left by Zhou Cang’s men during the warehouse attack. After Zhou Cang took the goods, he notified Boss Guan. By then, both Boss Guan’s and Boss Liang’s men had arrived at the warehouse.
Boss Liang’s people naturally arrived first. Before leaving, Zhou Cang deliberately left a phone at the scene, which contained fabricated audio of his conversation with Boss Guan and several students’ phones with videos of him dining and talking with Boss Guan, all of which were digitally forged by Glasses Shorty.
The contents of the phones were taken as evidence by Boss Liang, and the rough Boss Guan, unable to defend himself verbally, began sending people with Boss Liang’s men to search for Zhou Cang and others.
Bringing Ouyang Jing and Glasses Shorty was also to ensure their safety, fearing they might be affected. For safety, Zhou Cang took everyone back to his house’s basement, shut off all phones, and had Zhou Jiang deal with the school, claiming that the students were participating in an outdoor training camp he organized and would be absent for a few days.
His goal was not merely to cause a split within the Jiuzhou Higher Education Institution Alliance but to escalate the situation. If internal fractures occurred, it would gradually expose the hidden backers, and with Zhou Jiang’s cooperation, they could effectively eliminate the drug syndicate in Xinyuan City.
Zhou Jiang usually ignored his son’s reckless antics, considering the student gang inconsequential given his wealth and power. However, when drugs became involved, he could no longer remain a spectator. He had already discovered that the drug market in Xinyuan City was controlled by Ge Long, the crime boss, and Ge Yuntian, the municipal committee secretary, who was an old bastard with whom he had multiple conflicts. Unfortunately, Zhou Jiang lacked evidence to confront Ge Long and was helpless against Ge Yuntian.
Unexpectedly, his son’s antics provided him with a perfect opportunity to bring down Ge Yuntian. How could he let it slip away? Hence, today’s scene unfolded.
“Ge Long? Ge Yuntian?” Run Tiancheng repeated the names, feeling something was off.
“Do you remember Ge Fei, the one you sent to the hospital?” Zhou Cang snatched a box of state-contributed cigarettes from Zhou Jiang, lit one for himself, and tossed the rest to Run Tiancheng.
“Ge Fei? Do they really have a connection?” Run Tiancheng frowned, feeling a burn inside every time he heard the name Ge Fei.
“Yes, of course, they’re related, and not just casually. Do you think Ge Fei ruled over Caicun Road for nothing?” Zhou Jiang, as if performing a magic trick, produced another box of cigarettes. “They are father and son. Ge Yuntian has two sons, the elder Ge Long and the younger, good-for-nothing Ge Fei. Who in Xinyuan City wouldn’t want to catch a few drug cases to climb the ranks and make a fortune? But Ge Yuntian forbids any investigation… You’ve seen Director Jiang, at his age, rather than seeking trouble, he prefers to quietly retire with a few thousand yuan a month.”
“Although I’d prefer dad not to intervene, given the complexity of the situation, there’s no other way. Hiding here isn’t solving anything, so we must resolve this in the next few days. If we snatch a batch of their goods and Ge Long pretends it doesn’t matter, we’ll need to up the ante…” Zhou Cang glanced at Zhou Jiang, his tone tinged with reluctance.
“I can’t overtly help you, knowing my status and position. A bit of negative news about me would immediately hit the headlines, so…” Zhou Jiang looked at Run Tiancheng, “it’s all on you now…”
