Supreme Rogue Play in Another World - Chapter 23 - Behind Bars
“You… don’t come any closer… mon… monster…” Wei-Ge was so frightened that he plopped down under a chair, while his henchmen simply lay down and played dead.
“Where are my woman and brothers? Where are they? Speak!” Run Tiancheng approached Wei-Ge, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him high off the ground.
“I… I don’t know… Oh… I remember now, it was… it was Boss Liang, he said he had a way to deal with you guys, so I let him do it… I really don’t know anything… Spare me, hero…” Despite his panic, Wei-Ge, a man seasoned by many storms, managed to speak coherently and completely, even more composed than the on-duty security guard today, not having wet his pants yet-a mark of somewhat better quality.
“Boss Liang? That sneaky little guy?” Run Tiancheng glared at Wei-Ge. “Why should I believe you?”
“I’m telling the truth, if you don’t believe me there’s nothing I can do, even if you kill me… I would still say the same!” Wei-Ge’s face was full of helplessness, truly hoping this was all just a nightmare and that he would wake up soon.
“You think I really wouldn’t dare?” Run Tiancheng casually knocked on a nearby solid wood chair in the stands, causing it to collapse.
“I…” Wei-Ge began to tremble all over, seeing the murderous look in Run Tiancheng’s eyes and knowing this monster was capable of anything.
“Everyone listen up, I am a police officer, you need to put down the student in your hands immediately, I warn you once again, put down the student now!” At that moment, a voice came from behind Run Tiancheng.
“Tsk!” Run Tiancheng turned to glance back; a police car had already stopped at the edge of the playground, and three police officers were aiming their guns at his back.
“Phew, just in time. Thank you, officers. It was that guy causing trouble at the school and hurting the students!” Mr. Zhang from the security office, wiping his sweat, staggered over.
“Only one person? Are you sure?” The police officer glanced at the students scattered across the playground, where over a hundred were still lying on the ground moaning, while the others displayed expressions filled with terror, as if they were petrified.
“Yes, there’s just one person. Be careful, officer, this violent criminal is extremely dangerous; he went mad and injured so many students,” Mr. Zhang hastily fabricated, unable to believe himself that over a hundred students had been hurt by a single individual.
“Drop the student now, or we will shoot!” the police warned again.
“Hmph!” Run Tiancheng casually threw Wei-Ge aside, harshly saying, “Consider yourself lucky. If I don’t find the person I’m looking for, I’ll come back to settle the score with you!” He really didn’t want to bother with the police, but was his body truly strong enough to withstand bullets? He certainly didn’t have that confidence.
Two police officers cautiously approached and clamped the cold handcuffs around Run Tiancheng’s wrists. One officer moved close to Wei-Ge and whispered, “Miao Wei, are you alright?”
Wei-Ge nodded, his face still pale. He pulled out a thick envelope from his coat and handed it quietly to the officer, saying, “Thank goodness you arrived in time, but be careful, that guy is a monster. If… if possible, I hope never to see him again!”
The officer weighed the envelope in his hand, revealing a sinister smile, “Don’t worry, Miao Wei, this should be enough to keep that scoundrel in prison for life!”
In a dark room at the Jiuzhou District police station on West Third Road, a desk lamp was placed in front of Run Tiancheng.
“Speak! Name, age, home address, background, why you caused this disturbance, who instigated you, do you have any accomplices?” The corrupt officer, who turned out to be the station commander, began his interrogation of the ‘suspect’ with a righteous demeanor.
“I fought them myself, and there’s no need to discuss the reasons. If you tell the judge that I alone took down hundreds, do you think the judge would believe you?” Run Tiancheng, having seen Wei-Ge handing something to the officer, knew they were in cahoots, although he hadn’t heard exactly what the two had been discussing. It surely wasn’t just a friendly exchange, was it?
“Kid, cut the act and don’t play dumb with me. I suspect you’re involved with our city’s criminal underworld and connected to several murder and drug cases. We’ve got detailed files on all of it. What do you have to say for yourself?” The police officer suddenly pulled out a thick stack of folders and slammed them on the table.
“Hmm?” Run Tiancheng hadn’t expected the officer to pull such a move and asked, somewhat amused, “I really didn’t know I’ve been involved in so many things. By the way, why don’t you add a drug trafficking charge to make my sentence longer? Oh, and do you even know my name? Are you just pinning these cases on me?”
The officer didn’t expect such a question and stuttered before smirking, “Hmph, your name doesn’t matter anymore. No need to add a drug trafficking charge; just carrying these cases is enough to lock you up for life!” With that, he clapped his hands, and two police officers entered the room. “Station Commander, what’s up?”
The station commander shrugged, pointed at Run Tiancheng, and told the two officers, “This guy, let him take the fall for all these cases. You know what to do. I’m going to grab some tea!” He then made a throat-slitting gesture at Run Tiancheng and hummed a tune from the late 1930s as he left the room.
The two officers looked at each other, took off their jackets, rolled up their sleeves, and walked towards Run Tiancheng with a sneer.
Ten minutes later, the station commander’s voice came from outside the room, “How’s it going? It should be done by now, right? It usually doesn’t take you this long. Go easy, don’t overdo it and get us complaints about police brutality!”
But there was no sound from inside the room.
Curious, the station commander pushed open the door and saw Run Tiancheng still sitting calmly, while the two officers were drenched in sweat, gasping for breath on the floor, barely able to lift their arms. “Re…report, Commander… we couldn’t touch him no matter how hard we tried… there’s something off about this kid!”
The commander scratched his head. Run Tiancheng was still handcuffed, with his hands bound behind him in the chair-an easy target. How could they not hit him?
“What a waste, completely useless, what am I even feeding you for?” he scolded the officers harshly, then picked up a rubber baton from the table and approached Run Tiancheng.
Just then, a police officer at the door suddenly shouted, “Station Commander… Station Commander…! The Director is here!”
