Supernatural Brokers Rampaging in the Human World - Chapter 166 - Return
Shang Xuan’s request didn’t seem surprising. Ever since Shang Yue’s death, he had changed completely, and Shang Yue was undoubtedly a thorn in his heart. However, whether he could meet Shang Yue wasn’t something Su Yang could decide; it all depended on Shang Yue’s own wishes. After hearing Su Yang’s words, Shang Xuan nodded in agreement, but inside, he felt as if a heavy stone was teetering, causing him discomfort. He wasn’t sure if meeting Shang Yue would be more unsettling or if not seeing her would bring more peace.
Su Yang wasn’t particularly close with the people present, so there wasn’t much to say. After a brief gathering, everyone dispersed. The wedding was over, the honeymoon was complete, and Su Yang was finally ready to return to Laurel Academy to at least get her diploma. When supernatural ability users were everywhere, she could at least be considered educated.
Chen Zhao expressed strong dissatisfaction with the idea of living apart despite being married, but he had no say in the matter. The young lady had been spoiled by him to the point of being bold and fearless.
When Shang Yue heard from Su Yang that Shang Xuan wanted to see her, her expression was peculiar. “Why does he still want to see me? Is he haunting me even in death? Wait, I’m the one who’s supposed to be the ghost!”
“Maybe he wants to apologize,” Su Yang speculated, though she kept this thought to herself to avoid scaring her friend. It wasn’t just her; onlookers probably had some idea of what was going on.
Shang Yue frowned deeply, ultimately shaking her head. “I don’t want to see him. I have nothing to do with them anymore.”
Su Yang nodded, thinking that was for the best. She conveyed Shang Yue’s decision to Shang Xuan, leaving it up to him to deal with his feelings.
Upon receiving the message, Shang Xuan felt an inexplicable sense of loss. He wasn’t sure if it was due to lingering guilt or the realization that he might never see her again. Having hope only to fall back into despair was a terrible feeling, especially when the other party had effectively sentenced him to this fate.
If he had known that his moment of recklessness would lead to such consequences, he would never have acted that way. Unfortunately, the world is full of cheap, belated apologies and regrets that are worth nothing.
Ignoring Chen Zhao’s protests, Su Yang returned to Laurel Academy. Most of her former classmates had advanced to the seventh year, while she had to stay in the second year before applying for a grade skip. Fortunately, the second-year finals were approaching.
Cecilia expressed strong disdain for her useless son who couldn’t even keep his wife around. After all, Su Yang leaving Rhein to live apart from Chen Zhao meant that the grandson she had been longing for would be delayed once again! Cecilia was so frustrated that she considered having her husband take over the family again and sending her son off to the City of Glory.
Five years had passed since Su Yang last set foot in Laurel Academy, and not much had changed. The people she encountered on the way were mostly unfamiliar faces. The relationship between the two academies at Laurel Academy had improved significantly, thanks to the efforts of two former student union chairpersons five years ago.
However, Zhao Chang’an and Ferdinand had graduated three years ago, and after their departure, new student union chairpersons were quickly elected.
The current chairperson of the Supernatural Ability School’s student union was an old acquaintance of Su Yang’s, which surprised her initially-it was Ilze. How Ilze became the chairperson was a mystery, but perhaps it was thanks to Ferdinand’s guidance and influence over the past five years. Working under someone as lively as him could indeed make one more outgoing. Besides, she had Mammon as a protective figure by her side.
The chairperson of the Superbrain School’s student union was a girl Su Yang didn’t know, also in the seventh year. Although they were in the same grade, Su Yang hadn’t heard of her before.
Su Yang returned to school as discreetly as possible, even going so far as to disguise herself, so no one noticed that the once-famous top genius had quietly come back.
Her dormitory was still hers, thanks to the Stuart Family’s generous payment of her accommodation fees. It was regularly cleaned by robots and remained spotless.
Su Yang submitted a grade-skipping application to the school’s academic office via the Terminal. Once approved, she proceeded to the testing venue. At her request, the test was not open to the public. Of course, the academic office’s easy concession was largely due to her status as Mrs. Stuart.
The person overseeing Su Yang’s test was someone she knew-Mu Fengmian. Seeing him made her pause, wondering if the Mu Family still hadn’t given up. However, since they had met and he had sent a gift for her wedding, it seemed impolite to ignore him. So, Su Yang offered a polite smile and thanked Mu Fengmian for his gift.
“It wasn’t much, but I’m glad you liked it,” Mu Fengmian sighed inwardly. The Mu Family had indeed made a series of mistakes, and if not for Mu Chenzhou’s arrogance back then, they wouldn’t have ended up on such bad terms with Su Yang.
Su Yang didn’t say much more. She disliked meaningless small talk and didn’t want her responses to be misconstrued.
The test began quickly. To skip grades, one first needed to pass an ability level test, requiring a level of at least Level 7 to advance directly to the seventh year. Su Yang easily passed this, as her current level far exceeded Level 7. If it had to be quantified, she was probably at a skilled level, but she kept this information to herself.
Next came the assessments for required courses, such as spiritual power control and attack skills, followed by elective courses, including refining tools and magic potion classes that Su Yang had chosen.
All assessments were conducted at a seventh-year standard, with the difficulty slightly increased for fairness. Yet, Su Yang completed them all with ease, leaving the invigilators in awe.
What kind of prodigy was this? She must have found a secret place to train over the past five years, or how else could she have improved instead of regressing?!
If Su Yang knew the invigilator’s thoughts, she would have nodded in agreement-she had indeed found a place to train, one that even came with a time conversion system.
The academy was efficient, but the exams still took three days to complete due to the sheer number of subjects. After three days, Su Yang passed all her grade-skipping exams and smoothly became a seventh-year student.
She had informed Ilze and the others of her return, and they were all thrilled for her. Although there wasn’t much time left to be in the same school, everyone was excited.
Currently, the only people Su Yang knew at the school were Ilze and Vanessa. Others like the Jiang brothers and Lydia had graduated years ago. As a result, they harbored some resentment towards Su Yang’s mid-study hiatus-they had hoped to spend more time with the academic genius, only for her to take a break halfway through!
Now, upon learning of Su Yang’s return, they expressed deep jealousy towards Ilze and Vanessa, who could still spend another year with the academic genius!
Su Yang, amused, accepted Ilze and Vanessa’s invitation to meet at a bar.
The bar, of course, was Shang Yue’s. Though not centrally located, it boasted excellent facilities and a great atmosphere. Moreover, due to its connection with Su Yang, troublemakers rarely showed up.
Shang Yue had returned to the City of Glory ahead of Su Yang to manage the bar. Upon learning of her visit, she happily reserved a private room for her. Initially, she wanted to clear the place, but Su Yang stopped her-she had no intention of announcing her return to the world in such a manner.
However, even though Su Yang wanted to keep a low profile, her peculiar charm seemed to attract trouble. As she and Ilze arrived at the bar, they witnessed the classic scene of a spoiled brat demanding a private room with the line, “Do you know who I am?”
