Sunshine Filled with Thoughts - Chapter 53 - Wedding in New York 3
It seemed like everything was the same as before, yet everything felt different.
Then Linlin had a one-night stand with An Jinmo. Things started to spiral out of control. Zhaozhao and Momo moved into the villa, and Linlin moved in as well. During those days of taking care of Linlin, Momo appeared somewhat neurotic. She would often wake up suddenly in the middle of the night and rush to Linlin’s room. After making sure Linlin was sleeping peacefully, she would quietly return to her own bedroom.
Zhaozhao knew that after what happened with their mother, Linlin was now terrified of losing what mattered most. She cherished Linlin so much; if anything were to happen to her, he really didn’t know how he would face it.
So every night when they slept, Zhaozhao would tightly hold her in his arms. The only comfort he could offer was this shallow sense of security.
They stayed in Beijing for a long time and returned to America only after Linlin married An Jinmo. Later, she frequently traveled back to China for Linlin’s affairs, while Zhaozhao rarely returned due to work commitments.
Over the years, his love for Momo remained deep. He still thought about growing old with her, but sometimes he couldn’t tell whether it was platonic or physical. Being intimate with Momo was passionate, just like it was with Linda.
But why was he betraying Momo physically? Zhaozhao was confused about his own actions.
He didn’t plan to let Momo know about it. He wanted to end this relationship after some time and then live a peaceful life with Momo.
The weather was beautiful that day. Momo had been away from home for a while due to an overseas project-either working late at the office or on flights to other countries. Knowing she wasn’t home, Zhaozhao decided to get to know Linda better. Linda readily agreed, but on the condition that they would meet at his house.
Well, he thought, maybe ending things this way isn’t so bad.
That day, Linda wore a stunning red dress, swaying gracefully as she walked down the street. Some foreign men couldn’t help but whistle at her, and she responded with charm.
Zhaozhao admitted that the moment he opened the door, he felt something stirring within him. This fiery woman always knew how to make his blood rush.
Zhaozhao had almost gotten used to it. Linda walked in without a hint of shyness, casually slipping off one of the straps of her red dress, revealing her fair, porcelain-like skin, which was irresistibly alluring. Her lips were painted a bright red, and her eyes sparkled with a green hue reminiscent of an Irish lake, making her all the more enticing.
Americans believe that there should be a romantic atmosphere during intimate moments. This ambiance includes the setting, lighting, and music, and of course, a bottle of well-chilled champagne wouldn’t hurt either.
Zhaozhao had prepared all of this beforehand, even before Linda arrived. This was the first time a woman had entered the bedroom he shared with Momo, and it felt incredibly ironic. There were so many memories on that bed tied to Momo and him, yet here he was, allowing another woman to lie there. People can be so complex, so very complex.
After Linda removed her striking red dress, Zhaozhao was surprised to see that she wasn’t wearing any underwear or a bra. His eyes gleamed with a deeper intensity.
He reached out his arms and effortlessly lifted Linda, carrying her straight to the bathroom. As they walked in, their laughter filled the air with joy.
Once inside the bathroom, rose petals covered the entire bathtub, and small candleholders adorned the edges with flickering yellow flames. Zhaozhao gently set Linda down on the floor and said, “Let’s make today enjoyable…”
He lowered himself onto her, and Linda understood the implication. She wrapped her long legs around Zhaozhao, and from a distance, it appeared as if they were one inseparable being.
At that moment, Linda had nothing on her. Zhaozhao’s hands glided over her smooth skin, and wherever he touched, it effortlessly drew delightful gasps from her. The sounds were particularly pleasing to Zhaozhao’s ears.
He chuckled softly, playfully tapping the tip of Linda’s nose with his finger, teasingly saying, “What a little enchantress…”
With sultry eyes, Linda looked at Zhaozhao, her heart brimming with joy. Her feelings for this charming blonde-haired man were becoming quite complex and twisted. She had first noticed him at the club and had pursued him, but initially, he had been so cold. She was drawn to this challenging man, especially since he bore a slight resemblance to her cousin back in China. Since she couldn’t be with her cousin, being with an alluring and admirable Chinese man like him didn’t seem like a bad alternative.
Linda’s mind was racing with thoughts, while Zhaozhao couldn’t help but wonder if he could ever find another partner like her once she was gone. He secretly mocked his own despicable thoughts, but his hands were already beginning their bold invasion of Linda’s body.
As they slipped into the bathtub, both naked, Zhaozhao held Linda tightly in his arms. Even though their bodies hadn’t yet united, simply embracing and feeling each other’s intense desire was a tantalizing form of torture for both of them-an approach that never failed to ignite passion!
Suddenly, romantic music began to play, and its rhythm enveloped them. They both sank deeper into a comfortable, pleasurable state. Linda even began to softly hum along. The warm melody transformed the atmosphere of the bathroom into a fresh and intimate haven.
As Linda closed her eyes in bliss, Zhaozhao wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. He slowly traced along the graceful curves of her sides and felt his hands travel upward, finally finding her full, soft breasts. Zhaozhao couldn’t help but sigh inwardly; her body was as stunning as ever. This young woman truly knew how to drive a man wild with desire! His hands massaged her without restraint, and as she responded to his touch, it only fueled his satisfaction. The sensation was exquisite as he felt her slowly rising in his hands, and her soft cries echoed in the water, each one igniting his excitement further.
He felt his own body changing in response.
Turning around to face him, Linda looked into Zhaozhao’s eyes, filled with longing, as steam rose from the water. She gently caressed his shoulders and then his solid back, silently offering her invitation. With each gesture, Zhaozhao knew his moment had arrived. He eagerly began to explore her body, using his actions to express his desires and urgency. As Linda tilted her head back, accepting his caresses and the waves of longing building inside her, she let her hand wander beneath Zhaozhao’s body. This movement clearly delighted him, and the depths of his desire swirled within his gaze. Seeing this, Linda’s eyes sparkled, and her touches grew wilder.
Zhaozhao felt a surge of excitement, embracing Linda with no softly gentle caresses, purely released his pent-up desires. Such opportunities for uninhibited expression of passion were rare, especially in moments like this.
His movements were so fierce that Linda couldn’t help but scream, her voice soaring to new heights, reaching climactic peaks.
Finally, Zhaozhao held Linda tightly as he entered her body. In that moment, they were both almost pushed to the edge of ecstasy. Zhaozhao playfully dove under the water, moving rhythmically, and the exhilarating sensation shocked Linda. She eagerly responded, pressing her body against him with increasing urgency, urging him to go deeper and deeper. The water in the bathtub churned with rose petals, a clear testament to the passion brewing beneath the surface.
When they both finally reached their peaks, they surfaced from the water, gasping for air.
Linda caught her breath quickly, recovering from the intense experience.
Meanwhile, Momo swiftly gathered her things and left, disappearing into the courtyard of the small villa.
This scene was not something Zhaozhao had anticipated, and he wasn’t sure how he would explain it to her. In truth, it didn’t really require an explanation-it was simply reality.
Any further explanation felt excessive.
After Momo left, Zhaozhao got dressed and prepared to let Linda go. This straightforward foreign woman said earnestly, “I’ll go with you to China to explain it to your girlfriend…”
“Explaining would only complicate things further… Let’s just part ways here,” Zhaozhao replied coolly, picking up his clothes from the floor. Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced his heart. What if one day Momo was with another man? Could he accept that?
Just imagining such a scenario made him feel like his heart was being ripped apart. If she did, and he saw it with his own eyes… he couldn’t fathom what he might do.
After Momo returned to Beijing, Zhaozhao quickly tidied up his home. While cleaning the bathroom, he spotted a test strip tossed in the trash. It clearly indicated that he was about to become a father. Momo must have known about this but hadn’t told him. A wave of emotions surged through him, leaving him at a loss for words. Deep down, he had always wanted a cute child, like Yanyan, and had hinted at it to Momo before. But she had made excuses about her body changing and her fear of pain, so he had never pushed the matter. However, she also wanted children, as evidenced by the fact that they hadn’t used protection during their recent encounters. Yet he hadn’t realized it, even though he thought he loved her. He hadn’t noticed such an obvious thing.
The mix of frustration, sadness, and anger boiled within him, churning over too many emotions to count.
He sank to his knees on the floor, overwhelmed by an indescribable pain.
As Zhaozhao stepped out of the airport in Beijing, he suddenly felt that everything around him was strangely unfamiliar. It seemed that he was about to lose Momo. A wave of fear quickly spread through him, as if the sky over Beijing had been engulfed by dark clouds. He dragged his suitcase behind him, contemplating how he would face Momo if he saw her at Linlin’s place.
While Zhaozhao’s mind was in turmoil, he suddenly felt someone tap on his shoulder from behind.
“What are you doing here? I told you this isn’t necessary!” he snapped, turning around only to come face to face with Linda. In an instant, it felt as if a powder keg had been ignited within him. His thoughts were already confused, and now here was this woman stirring up more chaos-wasn’t it enough already?
Linda stood there, momentarily stunned. She was taken aback by his reaction, her beautiful face reflecting disbelief. The refined, gentlemanly man she once knew was treating her so rudely now. Linda was furious.
“I came to Beijing just to see my cousin. It has nothing to do with you! Your issues with your girlfriend are none of my concern. Zhaozhao! I never expected you to be this kind of man. In your Chinese words, you’re the type who dares to talk but can’t act!”
After saying this, Linda walked away with an air of defiance, her graceful figure appearing so noble and elegant to those around her. This girl, who had always lived in a privileged family, possessed a natural pride within her. She would only lower her head for someone who truly deserved it. At this moment, Linda clearly felt she had misjudged Zhaozhao.
Zhaozhao felt embarrassed in the airport; he was infuriated by the situation. He had never felt so humiliated in all the years that had passed.
He took a taxi directly to An Jinmo’s house. During the ride, he mulled over countless reasons and excuses, yet ultimately realized each one was feeble and absurd. He had been caught in bed with a foreign woman by his own wife, who was pregnant with his child. Such a situation would be impossible for anyone to accept. He truly couldn’t come to terms with it.
Suddenly, Zhaozhao felt like a jerk. The gravity of his mistake weighed heavily on him, filling him with regret.
When Zhaozhao arrived at An Jinmo’s house and entered the living room, he saw Momo cozied up on the sofa. Despite her delicate makeup, she still seemed like an invincible warrior to the outside world. However, in his eyes, she appeared extremely fragile, as if she could shatter with a single touch. This facade of strength was the most sorrowful thing he had ever seen. He desperately wanted to walk over and hold her tightly, but that intense urge was abruptly crushed by the sight of Linda emerging from behind him. That woman just wouldn’t go away.
Suddenly, Linda walked over and embraced An Jinmo, causing everyone in the room to change their expressions. Linlin’s reaction was particularly notable; the astonishing scene left everyone unsure of how to respond. In the end, Linda unexpectedly received a phone call and vanished just as quickly as she had appeared.
The atmosphere in the room turned awkward, seemingly orchestrated to provide Zhaozhao and Momo with a private moment to talk, or perhaps to deal with An Jinmo. Linlin led An Jinmo upstairs, while Momo moved beside Zhaozhao and stepped into the guest room adjacent to the living room. They needed to discuss their own matters.
Momo settled onto a small sofa, draped in a huge Prada shawl adorned with a checkered pattern. The oversized shawl wrapped around her, making her appear cold. Was her heart freezing because of his actions?
Zhaozhao suddenly felt tears welling up in his eyes. He had never experienced such despair before. Momo seemed to be trying to convey that she could find warmth on her own; she didn’t need him. Her heart had turned cold. He had frozen her.
It was his fault.
Heartbroken, Zhaozhao approached her, wishing to embrace her. However, the moment he reached out, Momo quietly uttered a single word that stopped him in his tracks.
With her downcast eyes, a small shadow of sadness lingered beneath her long lashes. Her curly hair fell over her shoulders, framing her pale face.
She softly said one word: “Dirty.”
Zhaozhao’s hand froze in mid-air, unable to move for what felt like an eternity. Time and air seemed to stagnate around them, as if everything had come to a standstill. That single word rendered him speechless. He didn’t know how to respond; even the thought of what he could say made him feel shameless. He had truly hurt the girl before him. Physical betrayal was no different from emotional betrayal.
“I’m sorry…” After a long silence, he finally managed to force the words out of his throat.
Momo looked at the man before her, the one who once would have sacrificed his life for her, now betraying their love. The fact that she had witnessed his infidelity was something she could hardly fathom.
She had always believed he would never betray her, yet here she was, facing the ultimate truth…
“Do you know I’m pregnant?” she abruptly stated.
“I know…” Zhaozhao’s voice was low and heavy.
“Do you want this child? If you do, we should work through this together. Or, I could go to the hospital, and when I come back, we can finalize our divorce. Zhaozhao, I never thought you would come to despise me. I never imagined that the man who once claimed he would die for me would be unable to control himself. Or do you think I can’t satisfy you on my own?”
Even in this moment, Momo didn’t present herself as a distressed wife; she stood tall, looking down at the man she loved as she spoke her truth.
Zhaozhao looked up at Momo, fear gripping his heart.
“We can’t get divorced! Let’s go back to America, Momo. We’ll have this child together…”
Zhaozhao stood up next to her, taking her cold hand in his, his voice filled with desperation.
Momo instinctively closed her eyes, suddenly feeling exhausted. Was this the kind of love she had wanted? Or had she simply misjudged him from the start?
He had the same familiar features, the same intonation. So why did his face now seem unbearably irritating?
“Fine…”
And with that, the situation ended in Momo’s deliberate ignorance. They returned to America to start a new life together. But the damage had already been done. No amount of atonement could restore what they once had. Even though they tried to mend things, a perfect restoration was impossible. All that remained was an ugly scar; sometimes you might forget, but the scar would still be there. A mere brush against it could bring a sharp, heart-wrenching pain.
And that pain could tear you apart.
Although their lives appeared calm on the surface, deep within them lay an insurmountable chasm. Zhaozhao became increasingly cautious around her, while her happiness waned. They were clinging to the initial feelings, but those feelings had faded long ago. So, what was left to hold onto?
Perhaps it was just habit. It was hard to change once you got used to being with someone. That kind of change was agonizing.
Eventually…
There would be no more “eventually.”
