Starting with a Cellar Safe House - Chapter 7
Su Xiao pondered and asked, “Aren’t white treasure chests the easiest to find?”
Master Roshi replied, “I don’t know. I only found four treasure chests in the desert; one white and three red. The information about the other chests came from others.”
Su Xiao recalled, “Did you find them during the Hurricane Disaster? Wasn’t the wind very strong?”
Master Roshi explained, “That’s what you don’t know. The energy around a tornado is tremendous, but right in the eye, it’s calm. My spot in the desert happened to be right in the eye, so I was able to find them.”
Su Xiao realized something.
So she was at a disadvantage because she couldn’t see outside from her cellar.
Su Xiao said, “There are many people at the communication center who want red treasure chests. You could exchange them for a lot of resources. Why not trade them?”
After a while, Master Roshi responded, “What about the information on weapons? Do you want to trade that? But I need you to tell me something I don’t know.”
Information that can only be exchanged must be very important.
Since it wasn’t their first time collaborating.
Su Xiao asked, “Do you know how to obtain a purple treasure chest?”
Master Roshi answered, “I don’t know.”
Su Xiao handed him some water and food, “You don’t know? Then you first.”
Looking at the water and food she brought, Master Roshi felt cornered: “The first time you enter the Safe House system with three Level 1 Weapons, you’ll be prompted that three Level 1 Weapons can be combined into one Level 2 Weapon. But you need a Weapon Stand to craft weapons, and I don’t know what that is.”
It turned out like this.
Su Xiao’s eyes sparkled.
This information was crucial and could be split into two parts.
Lower-level weapons can be combined into higher-level weapons.
This indicates the existence of weapons of different levels, suggesting that places requiring higher-level weapons definitely exist!
Also, the fact that three Level 1 Weapons can be combined into a Level 2 Weapon, with the Safe House also displaying Level 1, could it also be combinable?
Those red dots on the map that couldn’t be penetrated, could they possibly be unbound Safe Houses?
Master Roshi said, “It’s your turn now. What’s your information?”
Su Xiao replied, “The purple treasure chest releases blueprints. The way to get them is after I obtain a weapon, I can see special information on nearby vehicles. After attacking the vehicle, a purple treasure chest appears, and the blueprint is for a Weapon Stand.”
Master Roshi exclaimed, “Damn!”
He was baffled.
He was the first to get a red weapon treasure chest with a double Easter egg.
But there were no buildings nearby.
All he could see was sand, and seeing even a sand hedgehog or sand snake was rare.
This was also why he could find red treasure chests quickly; in the endless desert, red treasure chests are relatively conspicuous, while white chests during the day are easily overlooked.
Now knowing that the purple treasure chest releases blueprints from vehicles, does this mean he can’t get blueprints out in the desert?
After pondering, he sent another message to Su Xiao, but she did not respond, clearly no longer at the communication center.
Indeed, Su Xiao was no longer at the communication center. After exchanging information with Master Roshi, the space freed up from the resources she gave away was enough for her to take out the apocalypse resources from the warehouse and set them aside.
She planned to go out for resources, choosing not to open the chests on-site this time, but to first collect and move them.
Operating the joystick, she searched for those immobile red dots, but obviously, most of these had already been found, leaving her little chance of finding unbound Safe Houses.
Moreover, unbound Safe Houses require staying inside for an hour to bind.
Suddenly, she heard a loud “bang,” as if encountering an obstacle, and the joystick could no longer move forward.
Ahead was a blue water area, but her electronic map in the cellar scanned a red dot on the river, indicating a Safe House was there.
Su Xiao immediately left the cellar to investigate.
As soon as she stepped out, the scene in front of her utterly stunned her.
The riverbank where the cellar was located used to be the city’s most famous scenic spot.
But now, the beautiful scenery no longer existed. Far away, skyscrapers had collapsed into ruins, and not even a living person could be seen on the riverbank.
No, that’s not right.
Taking a few steps forward, Su Xiao saw a bloodied body lying by the river, her heart pounding.
She had never felt the apocalypse as cruel as this moment – not while in the underground warehouse, inside the Safe House, at the communication center, or even when chatting in mobile groups.
For the first time, she saw – dead people.
Many dead people.
All were people blown into the sky by the hurricane and then violently slammed back down.
Human beings are indeed extremely fragile in the face of massive natural disasters.
Su Xiao forced herself to calm down. According to the map, there was still a red dot on the river, likely an unbound Safe House.
Carefully observing the river surface, she noticed an unusual fishing boat with a canopy near the shore.
A 20-level hurricane would typically have destroyed such a wooden fishing boat long ago.
Yet, there it was, intact by the riverbank.
Approaching, she indeed found a doorknob on the boat’s body, and it was silver!
Without hesitation, Su Xiao dived into the water, swimming towards the fishing boat.
The moment she touched the doorknob, Su Xiao vanished, reappearing soaking wet inside the fishing boat-
[Congratulations, you have entered the Safe House. Stay in this Safe House for one hour to bind it. If you leave during this period, the binding time will reset, and the Safe House will open to other survivors.]
As expected.
Can a survivor bind multiple Safe Houses, making it a case of having more than one hideout? Or is it as she guessed, that collecting three Safe Houses could upgrade them like weapons?
But spending an hour inside seemed like a waste of time.
Su Xiao closely observed the fishing boat.
The boat was simple, with a canopy providing shade and shelter from rain. The space inside was only about four to five square meters, offering a clear view of the riverbank – an advantage the cellar did not have. Most importantly, it seemed to be a Safe House on water.
However, she couldn’t find any controls to move it.
Just then, a gust of wind blew.
[Wind speed has reached Level 2, movement possible.]
An electronic map appeared before Su Xiao, with a manual control lever beside it.
This device could only move when the wind blew!
This was truly an unusual, peculiar setup.
Using the boat’s vantage point, she surveyed the riverbank.
Indeed, she spotted a red treasure chest not more than three hundred meters from the fishing boat, and immediately maneuvered the boat towards it.
As her hand gently slid over the control lever on the electronic map, the boat slowly began to move.
But soon, Su Xiao realized something was amiss.
