“But I’m worried about you flying alone after drinking so much,” the secretary was genuinely concerned about him enduring the flight.

“I’m sober now, it’s fine. Call the airport and check if there are any tickets left.” Maybe he could still make it back to Haicheng tonight.

Mr. County Mayor’s determination puzzled and intrigued the secretary, “May I ask why you’re in such a hurry to return?”

Thinking of his wife, Xia Zhennan’s brow relaxed, and a faint smile appeared, “My wife might be pregnant. I want to be with her for the check-up.”

The secretary was surprised. He had been astonished earlier when he learned that the county mayor was eager to return because his wife was in Haicheng. But now, knowing that he was rushing back for such a small matter, he was even more amazed!
