Spoiled by Love - Sweetheart, Don't Tempt Me - Chapter 104 - Taking the Family Photo
The family of three arrived at the largest International SK Mall in Haicheng City. When they reached the photography studio they had reserved, the Gong Family was already inside. It was understandable; Mrs. Gong was eager to see Xiaomai.
Mrs. Gong was almost moved to tears, watching Xiaomai from a distance. It was as if she was seeing a little Su Yiyi again. Although she had seen her in photos, nothing compared to the emotional impact of seeing her in person. She was so overwhelmed that she couldn’t move her feet.
The little guy, upon spotting the familiar Aunt Qiao, happily darted over like a butterfly. “Aunt Qiao, what are you doing here?”
Gong Xiaoqiao had already prepared an answer for this question, so she wasn’t flustered at all. “Aunt Qiao’s parents went on a trip without me. They took lots of beautiful photos, but I wasn’t in any of them. So they have to make it up to me by bringing me here to take some lovely pictures!”
Gong Xiaoqiao indeed had a knack for dealing with kids, being a big kid herself. Her way of speaking was childlike, and communicating with the little guy was seamless.
Hearing that Aunt Qiao was also there to take photos, the little guy got even more excited. “We’re here for that too! Dad brought Mom and me to take a beautiful family photo!”
“That’s wonderful, haha.” Gong Xiaoqiao hadn’t forgotten the two important people eagerly waiting behind her. She took the little guy’s hand and led her to Mr. and Mrs. Gong. “Let me introduce you to a handsome man and a beautiful woman. This is my dad and mom. You should call them grandma and grandpa.”
The little guy seemed puzzled by these titles, furrowing her brows as she looked at Aunt Qiao. “?”
Gong Xiaoqiao quickly explained with a smile, “You call me Aunt, so naturally, my mom should be called grandma, right?”
Xiaomai, being only five years old, thought about it and found it reasonable. She obediently bowed to Mr. and Mrs. Gong, greeting them with a sweet, melodious voice, “Grandma, grandpa.”
“Ah, what a good girl.” Seeing the well-behaved and sensible granddaughter, Mrs. Gong, despite her strong self-control, couldn’t help but gather tears in her eyes. She bent down to embrace the little guy warmly, which immediately made the little guy frown in confusion. “Grandma, why are you crying?”
Mrs. Gong froze, flustered and unsure how to explain. “I…”
Having observed for a while, Zhan Niantong quickly stepped in to help Mrs. Gong out of the situation. “Your grandma loves good children the most. Seeing you so pretty and adorable makes her so happy that she cried.”
The little guy nodded shyly, and Gong Xiaoqiao quickly stepped in to rescue her mom, taking Xiaomai into her arms. “Come on, Aunt will take you to pick out some beautiful clothes.” Then she whispered in her ear, “There’s your favorite chocolate over there.”
Even though Gong Xiaoqiao whispered, it was still audible to those nearby. But considering the special occasion, Zhan Niantong decided to let it slide. She could always keep an eye on things and manage them later.
As soon as Xiaomai heard there was chocolate, she happily followed Aunt Qiao. Mrs. Gong was about to follow them when Zhan Niantong gently stopped her, saying, “Auntie, please don’t be too obvious. Xiaomai is very sensitive, and I’m afraid she might…”
“I know, I just couldn’t help myself,” Mrs. Gong replied, feeling quite regretful. “I’ll be careful.” She was determined not to let Xiaomai discover the truth.
After the greetings, a friendly sales assistant approached them. The two gentlemen, uninterested in choosing clothes, naturally settled on the nearby sofa to discuss business opportunities and politics.
A sweet-looking sales assistant led Zhan Niantong to the clothing area to pick out outfits. From afar, she was captivated by a wedding dress displayed on a mannequin by the window.
It was a strapless mermaid-style gown with a unique design. Tiny pearls adorned the bodice, delicate and exquisite, resembling the sparkling ripples on Swan Lake. The fishtail hem was embellished with lace buds, lively and playful, adding a touch of youthful charm to the pristine and holy bridal dress.
Noticing her interest in the gown, the sales assistant immediately suggested, “Miss, would you like to try this wedding dress? It seems like the perfect fit for you.”
“No, no,” she replied. She was there to take a family photo, not a bridal shoot. Although she adored the dress and briefly imagined herself wearing it, she thought she would look stunning in it.
The assistant encouraged her, “Many ladies do wear wedding dresses for family photos.” From her professional perspective, this lady would look absolutely angelic in the gown.
“But…” She was tempted, but… oh dear, what if her husband thought she was hinting at taking wedding photos? They would take them eventually, but there was no rush. Better to wait until he was transferred back to Haicheng City and his work was stable.
Unbeknownst to her, her dear husband, though seated on the sofa, had been discreetly watching her every move, capturing her expressions perfectly.
Naturally, a secret surprise was quietly brewing.
Just then, Xiaomai returned after finishing her chocolate and spotted the beautiful wedding dress, immediately urging her mom, “Mom, this wedding dress is so pretty. You should try it on!”
“No,” she replied. Even the little guy was joining in the fun. It wouldn’t be good if her dear husband’s attention was drawn to this!
“Mom, you and Dad haven’t taken wedding photos yet. Why not do it today?” Xiaomai persisted, though her choice of words was a bit off.
Casually? Taking wedding photos is not something you do casually! It’s a significant romantic event in your mom’s life, not something to be done on a whim!
“No, let’s look at something else!” She quickly diverted her gaze to explore other options.
“Alright,” Xiaomai reluctantly agreed, respecting her mom’s decision.
However, her mom looked stunning in other outfits too. When she emerged from the fitting room in a new ensemble, everyone was awestruck. “Wow, Mom, you’re so beautiful!” Xiaomai exclaimed. She always knew her mom was pretty, but she hadn’t expected her to look as breathtaking as a fairy descending from heaven.
Zhan Niantong stood at the fitting room door, clutching the hem of her dress, hesitant to step out. The attendant assisting her whispered softly, “Miss, this dress looks stunning on you. Let your husband see it.”
Zhan Niantong felt awkward. The dress was strapless, and the attendant wouldn’t let her wear a shawl, exposing her shoulders. “Could you please get me a shawl?”
Gong Xiaoqiao, having snapped out of her daze, approached and pulled the shy girl out. “Oh, come on, don’t ruin the dress with a shawl.”
At that moment, Xia Zhennan rose from the sofa, his eyes fixed solely on his beautiful wife, oblivious to everything else.
Others discreetly moved aside, leaving the couple their private space, stifling giggles.
Seeing her husband approach with a warm and tender gaze, Zhan Niantong felt a sweet flutter in her heart, her cheeks turning rosy as she displayed her shyest side. “This dress is really-” too revealing!
“Beautiful,” Xia Zhennan interrupted before she could finish, taking her hand from the dress hem. His other hand gently adjusted the dress, ensuring it fit her perfectly.
Zhan Niantong, the obedient wife, stood still, allowing her husband to arrange the dress, though she felt shy with so many attendants nearby, lowering her head in embarrassment.
Xia Zhennan admired his rosy-cheeked wife, who looked like a little girl from a painting. His voice carried a hint of admiration, “You look great in pink.”
“Okay!” Since her husband liked it so much, she decided to buy more pink clothes in the future. After all, women dress to please their beloved. Naturally, she didn’t insist on changing clothes anymore.
The outfits were quickly finalized, and the photographer was ready, so they began posing for photos.
The scene captured by the camera was like a fairy tale: a tall man and a petite woman, one in a suit, the other in a flowing dress, one mature and composed, the other demure and delicate, along with a child as exquisite as a fairy. Their happiness was enviable!
The Gong Family also took many photos, with the playful little guy occasionally sneaking in, securing a spot in their family photo, which was precisely what the Gong couple hoped for and why they chose today for the shoot.
After the photoshoot, the photographer asked them to select the pictures they wanted printed. Looking at the screen filled with beautiful images, Zhan Niantong found it hard to choose, reluctant to discard any. In the end, Xia Zhennan decided to print them all, as it wouldn’t cost much more.
It was lunchtime, and Mrs. Gong had already reserved a table at a nearby restaurant, so both families headed there for a meal.
Gong Xiaoqiao chose not to ride with her parents but joined them in their car, giving Zhan Niantong a chance to discuss her clothing.
Starting with last night’s incident, she said, “Xiaoqiao, your bag was snatched yesterday?”
“It was recovered, so why bring it up now?” Gong Xiaoqiao was puzzled.
“I think you keep getting robbed or kidnapped because your outfits are too flashy, all custom-made by famous designers, marking you as a wealthy family’s child and attracting unwanted attention.”
“Ah…” Gong Xiaoqiao exclaimed in surprise, “What should I do?”
“Maybe change your style! Like the clothes I bought at the mall, they’re affordable and of good quality. You might want to try them.” Sometimes, wealth can be a burden and a mistake!
“Alright, dear, accompany me to the mall this afternoon, okay?”
