Spellbound Hearts - Chapter 93 - His Fiancée
A week-long business trip?
Upon hearing Wang Peng’s words, Ji Xuan slightly furrowed her brows.
A week was too long; she feared she couldn’t wait that long.
Not to mention that a week’s delay with no progress on Song Group’s end would be hard to explain, she also worried about other companies beating them to the punch.
Although Bi Sheng was a mess, there were quite a few people eyeing it eagerly.
After all, the profit methods she could think of, others could too.
If the two companies had a significant disparity in strength, it would be fine, but if they were evenly matched, it would come down to speed, seeing who could act faster.
Thinking of these things, Ji Xuan’s slightly furrowed brows relaxed, and she looked up at Wang Peng, “Is there a way to get an invitation to Miss Xie’s birthday party?”
Wang Peng looked troubled, “I’ll try to think of something.”
Ji Xuan had been navigating the business world for years and understood the importance of balancing kindness and authority, “I’ll leave it to you then. Once it’s done, I’ll treat you to dinner.”
Wang Peng was momentarily stunned by her words, verbally agreeing it was ‘part of his duty,’ but internally he began to reassess Ji Xuan.
She was poised, capable of reprimanding with a stern face, yet able to coax with a smile, adept at using tactics, yet flexible enough to soften her stance.
No wonder a young woman like her could reach this position.
While Wang Peng was still in a daze, Ji Xuan spoke again, “Go ahead, try to get it done by three in the afternoon.”
Wang Peng, “Alright, Manager Ji.”
Watching Wang Peng leave, Ji Xuan once again focused on her research on Bi Sheng.
She hadn’t had much contact before, so she treated it as last-minute preparation.
Wang Peng’s ability to get things done was stronger than Ji Xuan had imagined; within just two hours, he placed the invitation to Miss Xie’s birthday party on her desk.
Ji Xuan smiled lightly, casually took a pack of cigarettes from the drawer, and handed it to Wang Peng, “Thanks.”
Wang Peng hesitated, not daring to accept, “Please, Manager Ji, how could I accept this? I…”
Ji Xuan pushed the cigarettes forward a bit, her attitude leaving no room for refusal, “Take it; this isn’t part of official business. We must keep personal and professional matters separate.”
Hearing Ji Xuan say this, Wang Peng smiled awkwardly, “Then thank you, Manager Ji.”
At six-thirty in the afternoon, after leaving the company, Ji Xuan didn’t immediately head to the Xie family’s birthday party but first went to a mall to choose a dress suitable for the occasion.
Clothes make the man, and a horse is judged by its saddle; even if she were frugal, she couldn’t save on this expense.
To blend into this circle, strength is the capital, and appearance is the key.
At eight in the evening, Ji Xuan appeared at Miss Xie’s birthday party in a champagne-colored evening gown.
Miss Xie of the Xie family was indeed famous for being the apple of her family’s eye; a small birthday party attracted at least half of Qing City’s business circle.
On the surface, it seemed they were there to celebrate her birthday, but in reality, it was an opportunity to expand their network.
Ji Xuan casually took a glass of wine from a waiter and mingled through the crowd for about twenty minutes before finally spotting Bi Sheng’s president, Yu Hui, in a corner.
Yu Hui was in his early fifties, but thanks to good maintenance, he didn’t look old at all.
Coupled with his status and position, he stood there exuding confidence and vigor.
Yu Hui was engaged in a seemingly pleasant conversation with two men across from him.
Ji Xuan stood not far away, observing without approaching, wary of making a mistake.
Only when she saw the two men talking to Yu Hui walk away did she step forward in her high heels, greeting him while introducing herself, “President Yu, hello, I’m Ji Xuan, the Project Department Manager from Song Group.”
Upon hearing ‘Song Group,’ Yu Hui glanced at Ji Xuan.
Ji Xuan was well aware that ‘Song Group’ was a good brand to mention, so she continued smiling, “I heard you have a project you’re considering selling; I wonder if we have the opportunity to collaborate with you.”
Yu Hui held his wine glass and clinked it with Ji Xuan’s, his emotions unreadable, “Today’s a private party; we don’t discuss business.”
Discussing projects should avoid being overly eager.
Ji Xuan dared not push too hard, smiling back, “Alright, then I’ll just take this opportunity to familiarize myself with you.”
At worst, she could apply for a business trip to chase him to Changsha.
Having seen many people who cling persistently, Yu Hui appreciated Ji Xuan’s measured approach, “You’re quite interesting.”
Ji Xuan smiled, “I’m the one taking up your private time; you didn’t show me a cold face and spoke politely, which already gives me plenty of face.”
Yu Hui, “You’re very smart.”
Ji Xuan accepted the compliment graciously, “Thank you for your praise.”
While Ji Xuan was talking with Yu Hui, the crowd suddenly became lively.
Both turned their heads to see Xie Yao, in a white evening gown, appearing at the party with a shy face, holding Song Zhaoli’s arm tightly as if afraid he might escape.
Song Zhaoli had his hands in his pockets, exuding a cold and noble aloofness.
Yu Hui, “This Miss Xie, I recall she’s your President Song’s fiancée?”
